They had both a Spanish and English menu for convenience. I tried the al pastor ($24 MXN), lengua ($34), and suadero ($24). My favorite was the al pastor that they shaved freshly off the trompo. As we continued to order more tacos the food came out blazing quick. Of all the taco places we went to this was my favorite. It was the closest to what I'm familiar with but the meat was also more tender and flavorful. It might not be known as a top-tier taco spot, but it was simple and the tacos hit the spot.

Interestingly, the three taquerias located near one another on this block each had their own vibe -- this one more low key, the known touristy one next door, and the hipper spot around the corner for the younger local generation. The al pastor de trompo tacos were quite flavorful though the al pastor with cheese rendition they offer was rather laughable (see photo). The LENGUA here is most revered and comes pristine -- raw and whole. It does make it quite the adventurous eat, in the end, since although it is JUICY, it's also got a gamyness to it. Every place after 2300 was either closed or it was a sticky weakly heated cart on a lone street corner. With one last hurrah, I found a location that took us on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride towards midnight. Every dark street corner was scary, and the narrow, wet pavement was rickety. There were fewer and fewer street lights, or decent looking folks on the streets. They were shouting at me to abandon this fruitless venture as the church bells tolled 12. Right then, we turned the street corner and saw in the distance a dim yellow flame. That flame was heating a huge rotisserie of beef and framed by a line of young hipsters waiting for a table. As we approached the flame wondrous aromas of beef, pork and corn filled our senses..."La Chula" we whispered in unison. Servers were attired in white uniforms, like "In & Out Burger" employees. Cooks worked tirelessly to flip, spread, fry, paste beans, season and plate never-ending platters of sizzling planchas of hot tacos, cheese, soups and Chiles. I noticed groups of runners, workers and a table of chefs enjoying the late night venue. We ordered a legendary amount of a great many tacos. Had cold beers and marveled at this brightly lit and clean 24 hour location near Reforma. The chips were fine, but the guacamole had a smoothie-like texture, which I am not a fan of. There was a 20 minute wait, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it gets after lunch. Service was quick, which was nice, but our waitress wasn't very inviting. Interactions with the staff could be improved.

I had one with meat only and the second "con todo" which in this case means served with both a red and green salsa. This is probably a minority opinion but I preferred the meat-only taco. I could really appreciate the flavor of the meat and the texture of the crispy edges with just a squeeze of lime. Service was fast and easy. I can't speak to the atmosphere so much as we ate outside at the small bar on the street. Well worth the stop.
