Curt and his furry friends are AMAZING hosts! What a way to experience the Big Bend for the first time (for us). Maggie, Billy, Cody and Ilene (burros and horses) kept us entertained during our Happy Hours on the patio each night. And, Curt is simply the best tour guide around. We were relaxed, comfortable and simply in awe of this amazing place. Popcorn and Margaritas upon arrival = awesome! AM burro wake up calls / visits = hilarious! Peace and tranquility = priceless! Thank you SO MUCH to Curtis, Maggie, Billy, Cody, Ileen, Haagen, Daz, Pepper, Helen and all the rest. We loved it at the Tarantula Ranch! Highly Recommended!!! Simply in Awe of this Amazing Place!

We have been staying at this amazing property since 2012 and have visited twelve times! The reason we love Tarantula Ranch so much is due to the remoteness of the area, the wonderful hospitality from the owner, the animal friendliness and the gorgeous vistas. We love to hike several different areas of the property and feel safe during every stay - no keys needed. The cabins have what we need for a comfortable stay, and we enjoy cooking in the well equipped kitchen. Our teenager likes that there is WiFi and Direct TV. Simply put, this property is a superb example of why the Big Bend area is so special, unique and unlike any other place you have visited. Well worth the drive to the end of the road.

Highly recommended for anyone wanting a genuine Dark Sky stargazing experience!…read more Our family of 4 visited Big Bend National Park as part of a cross-country trip and wanted to experience stargazing for the first time. We found Astro Mucho through a google search and called for more details. Immediately it was easy to sense Devo's enthusiasm and friendliness even over the phone, and we booked a tour. He was very communicative prior to the event, checking in about weather conditions and special considerations for our handicapped son to ensure he would be comfortable and be able to participate fully. We arrived to the site (only 10 minutes north of Terlingua) where we found an intimate set up with comfortable chairs and groovy mood music that set the tone for our celestial experience. We lucked out and were the only 4 guests that evening (think it usually may be up to 10 guests per event). We found the laser pointer helpful during the guided tour of the sky. Everyone got a pair of binoculars to use and a red light flashlight as a gift. Good mix of telescope time, real time astrophotography (on a tablet), background astrology info, and guided tour of the sky/ constellations. Devo was patient with our questions and was knowledgeable. Devo nailed it!!

So relaxing and peaceful even with others around. I would say that I am a novice hiker and hiking through Big Bend is quite easy though I have faced some challenges. Be sure to wear proper shoes and clothing. So very thankful that we are still able to have this national park as it is now. The trails, views, landscaping, all of it...simply breathtaking. I have found park rangers to be extremely helpful and friendly. Can't wait to get back again.

The dessert was beautiful and the park as a whole was very well taken care of! Old Mine Trail: Since we went around "Spring Break", the parking lot was very busy and spaces were limited. I would recommend downloading the "All Trails" app to gauge how busy the trails are. By 7:30, all the spots in the small parking lot were already taken. The trail itself was very well managed. Although the parking lot was busy, the trail was not bad! We were pretty spaced out between hikers! Take lots of water and snacks! The views up top are spectacular. Star Gazing: We were at Sotol Vista (for panoramic stars). The stars were especially beautiful inside the park because there was no light pollution (aside from the headlights from passing cars down below us).
