I think it's been a month or longer since I've seen produce in this Target. Everytime I go I meander into the refrigerator aisle and to my surprise every time there's a length of refrigerator that's nearly barren, with no produce. I'm not sure what's been holding up the already very limited (non Super Target) supply. Everything else here was good today. Dave up at the front was helpful, I was greeted coming in TWICE! There was neat stock of new springs and summer arrivals and dollar things to peruse. They had a super selection of all things leftover packing, food storage, and home packed lunch. We recently made a quick stop at Target Tikahtnu to grab toddler medicine. Target South is definitely more organized and put together. Though, Target Tikatnu's children's section is noticeably larger and with more product. I'll have to keep that in my back pocket for future baby showers etc. It's a trek to visit north Anchorage, but that trek may be worth it, in this case. read more

I stopped at this Target location as it was the closest one in the area. Just needed to pick up something while visiting Anchorage. It's the typical Target that's anywhere. It was easy in and easy out. I'd recommend this location if you need anything from food to clothing or over the counter medication, toiletries, etc. Also note that there's also other stores, restaurants, a movie theater, and Costco located in this same shopping plaza. read more

Happy to know this town has Target. Man does not live by Walmart alone. They have a pretty decent variety and the prices equal the economy. Honestly, if they didn't...the place would close. Analytics, don't ya know. The workers are accommodating, but I've noticed the shoppers are super friendly and helpful. Every trip in here has resulted in a conversation, out of the blue, with tips on other places to try or sights to see. Incredible folks in this town! I rarely go to Target. Every time I do go, I have a same thought that always seems novel: "I love Target, why don't I come here more?!" The other day I ordered a product online, for local pickup. I went on my lunch break to pick it up. I was at the wrong Target. Oops. I google map'd the other target...30 minute drive. Wow. This town needs more than two Targets! THAT must be why I don't go often, I'm located smack-dab in the middle of the two locations, so both feel far. Anyway, this Target is very well-maintained, like most Targets. You've been to Target before so you probably know the drill it's like Walmart except: slightly higher prices, slightly higher quality, way less grocery options, WAY better upkeep. Only bummer about this location is that it doesn't have any alcohol, probably to protect the revenues of Brown Jug, which is also located in this shopping center. read more

For the most part, I'm generally happy with shopping at Target, however I am only there a few times a year. There is an unfortunate stench when you walk into the store and it's quite gross. I think it's the wet rugs they have at the doors. It dissipates as you get further into the store, thank goodness. I've utilized the buy online and pickup in store twice and it went fairly well. Easy to do the online portion, make your way to customer service and you're generally out of there in a few minutes. This specific trip was dealing with a lot of items out of stock, which I don't generally run into, but a few itEms I specifically went for, I was unable to get. The app stated another items location and it was nowhere to be found. I wandered aimlessly and managed to find it. Whew! The customer service is hit and miss. I remember a few years ago, a cashier mentioned how Target will never have self checkout because they don't want to lose the customer contact, but they do have a few of them. I tend to prefer to check out myself for ease most of the time. It's very awkward now how they place your items at the end, you're trying to bag them up yourself, you then have to run back around the counter and cart to pay, and of course go back to finish up your bagging... all while the next person is already being helped. I'm by no means helpless or not willing to bag my things, but it was awkward nonetheless. read more

Since moving to Anchorage, I have stopped here many times. I have always found it to be clean and well stocked. The staff have been friendly and helpful and I have never had to wait in line too long. If the lines do become long, they are on the ball with more lines opening to accommodate the customers. I have been very impressed with supplies of several things including pill pockets for my dogs and plenty of protein bar choices. read more

This update is based on shopping during the holiday season. My most recent visit was a pleasant surprise when it came to some very reasonable deals and hidden sales throughout the store. This Target is one of the anchor tenants for the Muldoon shopping plaza in the northeast part of Anchorage close to the Elmendorf Air Force Base. Parking can be a challenge sometimes but the lot here has always been bigger to me than the one down in South Anchorage. It won't take long to secure a spot close to the entrance as people come and go constantly. I've seldom had to park all the way out especially during the rush hours. The employees have always been more readily available here than at any Walmart in town if you have questions on pricing or locating an item. The unexpected deals I found here merited the four stars from three on my last visit and made Christmas shopping a lot easier without having to jump from place to place. Some of the great deals I found here was the TV show American Horror Story: Hotel priced at $8.99 (yes, $8.99!). Walmart was asking for more than $30.00 in comparison. I also found a Pokémon shirt with a complete lineup of the cartoon characters priced at $12.99 as opposed to some other novelty stores or E-bay that had theirs priced several dollars more. These two purchases took care of both a co-worker and a family friend and eased the financial torture on my wallet. Of course, the best part of this trip was treating myself with the Christmas money I received from my father. I found a fantastic deal on an old-school vintage-style vinyl record player that doubles as a 6-in-1 entertainment center. The record player had a wooden finish with classic 1940's-style radio knobs that switch between phonograph, CD player, cassette player (yes, you read that right), FM radio, and even Bluetooth features! I was like a kid in a candy store after purchasing this item. My parents used to have a large vinyl record collection of bands from the 60's and 70's when I was a kid and this was when I was first introduced to musicians from that era. I now have that opportunity to start my own record collection now that vinyl is making a comeback. I have always thought that vinyl had a clearer sound than CDs or cassettes which made this purchase all the more sweeter. Not to deviate from my review, this shopping experience has effectively cut my holiday shopping time by a significant amount. Here's hoping that everyone had a similar shopping experience during the month of December and that this is proof that the deals are out there if you look hard enough. read more

I've made two trips to this store and both have been less than impressive. First stop I was looking for legal sized printer paper. The crew was in the middle of taking down the entire office/school supply section and all the shelves were bare and I could see the spot where the paper SHOULD have been sitting. I asked for paper and one associate told me to try electronics...."look by the printers". Nope. 2nd trip I spent about an hour loading up a cart with supplies I'd need for my stay only to find that there were no (ZERO) cashiers in the checkout lanes. I asked the genius at the self checkout if there would be any lines opening up and he simple stated that the cashier must have left for the day (this was about 8:45 pm) but that another one might be coming. Then he walked away. I had an entire cart of stuff - not exactly the kind of load you want to try to take through self checkout which alarms every time to take a bag away before paying. I waited 17 minutes until FINALLY a cashier arrived. Never one did Mr. Self Checkout come back to give me an update or offer to help me. I can deal with the empty shelves and the total lack of assistance out on the floor. But WTF.....NO CASHIERS? I've seen Walmart drop to 1 cashier quite often - but even Walmart always has at least one person checking people out. read more

In fact, I had it all planned - - and I bought my shiny new iPad here. (Saved the 10% or $50 in taxes I woulda spent in Arizona!) Plus.... put it on my cute little Target redcard, for a - -cha ching - - 5% discount. Score! I hit the bullseye. (Pun totally intentional!) Also being that I was visiting Alaska, I appreciated that they have some Alaskan souvenirs in the front entrance area. I love going to this Target, I have no issues at all with the service or anything else. Though, this Christmas my husband bought me the Legend of Zelda Nintendo 3DS case, and without us checking the item first I opened it to find parts missing. Just the two styluses, that are pretty cool if your into the legend of Zelda. We can't find the receipt anywhere and called Target to figure out if we could exchange it since he bought it with missing parts. They can't and will not do anything even though he bought it like that, and they sold us an incomplete product that should've been traded for the full product. I'm guessing someone stole the missing parts or the manufacturer didn't add them accidentally. Overall, be careful, save receipts and double check your items before buying it, they won't let you return it if anything is missing, even if it's not your fault. So don't expect them do go "Above and Beyond," for something like that. It's really disappointing... read more

While I like browsing the store for discounted food items and home goods, huge value centers aren't where I like to spend a bunch of my time. This store is super clean. What I love about this store is shopping online for things that are available in store. They pull your order and in about an hour you go up to the customer service desk and retrieve your items. I'm in and out in less than five minutes and on with things I prefer to do during my day or evening. Whatever is easiest is what makes me happy. read more

I'll admit it, I was one of the overeager Target-ites who counted the days until this store opened and then stood in line, breathless with anticipation, giddy at the thought of strolling down the wide aisles the day this store opened. When they opened a few days earlier than expected, I was one of the obnoxious few who called my friends and neighbors and happily chirped, "Target is open!!!" It's not that I'm a fan of Target. But after two years of living in the barren shopping wasteland that is Anchorage, I was thrilled to have a new but familiar place to spend my husband's hard-earned cash. With no Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Williams Sonoma, L'Occitane, Sephora, Sur la Table, Crate and Barrel, Ann Taylor, White House Black Market, or Macy's to woo me and seduce the cash from my frozen fist, Target is like a shopping Oasis for this mall deprived, reluctant Anchorage transplant. I've heard the complaints. The sales staff aren't friendly (few in Anchorage are - see: Barnes and Noble). The prices are higher than in the lower 48 (Duh! Welcome to Alaska). I don't care. At the end of the day, I'll keep Target. Their SUPER BRIGHTLY LIT store is like balm to my SAD inflicted soul. Their cheerily painted Starbucks reminds me of a chic cafe in Seattle (if you squint and inhale deeply). I'll take their inflated prices and sometimes surly staff because pondering the alternative (that wretched Wal-Mart) makes me want to scream and tear at my hair like a Bellvue bound lune. Granted it still suffers from the same screaming kids and slow moving senior citizens I have to deal with on my real vacations, but at least it's cheaper than flying to Hawaii once a week. The store was clean. Not very crowded for a Saturday afternoon though the complex was very busy. There were a lot of empty places on shelves and I really could not find what I was looking for. Hardly anything in the children's shoe section. The rubber boots they did have (not in the size I needed) ranged in price from $30 - $36, which I think is high for boots that will be outgrown in six months. BTW found them at Walmart for $18. Good supply of DVDs, which is getting rare, since most just stream videos. Good prices on kids" movies and on the older movies too. I remember how excited I was to go to the new Target. Not so much anymore; I find the store boring. The checkout was not efficient. The checker kept trying to let someone know there was a spill in front of his checkstand and that one of the other checkouts had bad card reader. Don't know why he couldn't get help so he could help the lady in front of me. I bought that canned air that you use to clean keyboards etc. Checker asked for date of birth. I gave it to him and he explained I had to be over 18 to buy the air. I had guessed that was why but I smiled and said I was over 18. He said 'OBVIOUSLY." Although I have ordered from Target for over a year, my account no longer will allow me to add most items to the basket. My neighbor gave me her list of groceries that were delivered from target last week, and I tried unsuccessfully to put those into my own online cart. The customer service rep insists that groceries can't be shipped here, even though many other people in this town are able to get groceries dry groceries shipped directly to them from Target. The agent then "highly suggested" that I go pick up the items from the Target store. The nearest Target store is 500 miles away. The agent, Rica, shows almost complete indifference, does not have a good grasp of the English language, and never does clearly seem to understand that I only want to be able to buy the exact same items that are shipped to others in this community. I had this same problem approximately a year ago, and they were able to fix it quickly. Me: I'm unable to get groceries shipped to my address, although I have been able to do so multiple times for over a year, and a friend who lives two doors away and orders the same items is able to get items shipped to her. You are telling me that Target recognizes that there is an error that allows some people to get items shipped to them, but people who live across the street aren't able to get those same items, and that Target has no interest in fixing this issue? Rica: I see. Now I know what's the problem on this issue. As what you've said, you're on Alaska. Just to inform you, based on our policy we have a restriction about shipping the items on your place. And Groceries are include for the exception to be shipped on Alaska. Rica: That's why there is a two remaining items that can be shipped because the item is not part of grocery. Me: Again, my neighbors who also live in Alaska - who live within two-hundred feet of me, are able to get groceries shipped to them from Target. Every single item I put in my basket was shipped to my neighbor last week. I used her grocery list to make mine. Can i make that any clearer to you? Rica: I understand. But please understand as well that there are some items are restricted to be shipped like groceries. At this point I gave up. I am a target fanatic and this specific store made me just as happy as always. Great size selection in all clothes and shoes, great BOGO 50% off on shoes going on that I took advantage of, and the cashier went above and beyond to give me the online discounts that were not marked in store. My preferred Anchorage Target due to it's easy access for those coming from or returning to the Valley. Getting on and off at the Muldoon Exit makes it convenient. I find myself stopping here almost every time I go to Anchorage since I live in Palmer and it saves me a separate trip to Wasilla. If you're leaving Anchorage during rush hour you might as well kill a half hour or more at Target - you'd just be sitting in traffic anyway. This store is laid out very much like (if not identical to) the one in Wasilla. Everything is easy to find, well stocked, and the staff if friendly and helpful. read more

Along with my previous review, all of which still stands, I find that I still have a distaste for this place. My mother wanted to stop by, so we did. It was a slow time of the day so there was no problem with parking or getting inside. Their "clearance" items on the end caps are a joke and not much of a savings. Also, as we were already there, I checked out the athletic clothes. That's when I noticed that they apparently have started taking the bottom MSRP price tags of the bottoms of the tags. Maybe they've wizened up and decided that they didn't want you in such sticker shock when you find out how much they have marked them up for the Alaska market. Cleanliness wise, it was acceptable, which seemed comparable to the Dimond area one as well. Staff seemed to be equally as invested as the Dimond as well. Meaning the customer service is average and what you would expect from anyone of these department store type places (Fred Meyer, Walmart, Target, etc.) Having come from Juneau, where the only comparable things were Freddies and Walmart, it was kind of neat getting to walk around a different store, but the allure wore off after 17 seconds. While Target is usually spot-on in their content, they are certainly beginning to miss their mark in terms of customer service. Large-scale department stores should rarely have just one register open. It has certainly dissuaded me from buying more product. Instead I purchase from a location with better service, and then I only buy items that are cheaper or only available at Target so the option to self checkout is available. I know I should be happier, but I really thought they would bring lower prices, and help bring the prices around with their sales down in the area. So far...ehhh. Absolutely the worst target I've ever been to! Makes me not want to even go in because of how bad the cashier lines are. Target needs to get their act together - their cashier lines are TERRIBLE! Every time I go it takes forever. Walmart and other stores don't have this issue? What is the deal here? It just took me 30 minutes to check out because, after spending 15 min in one line, something happened so we all had to go in other lines. Then when I found a different line, the cashier was more worried about flirting with the guy in front of me than being quick. She pulled out her Personal phone and was scanning items in order to do price checks and give the guy cheaper prices. Great customer service IF there's no one else waiting forever in line and if the guy asked her to do it, however he was silent and awkward and glanced at me like he didn't know what to do because she did it for every item in his full cart! He never once asked for her to do that. It was hilarious to watch but also terrible customer service because once I came up after just watching her do all that... Do you think she price checked any of my items? No, because I'm not a 20 year old guy. Not only was she taking money away from her employer, but she provided me with terrible customer service. I've never had a fast and good experience going through the cashier lines at the target off Muldoon. I won't be returning. Editing my review on 9/24/16: this target has now gotten self checkouts!!! It is much quicker and now i dont have to deal with the very slow cashier workers... I still try to avoid coming here at all costs but at least they improved the cashier issue. read more
