The Green Line trains may be getting better but the last ride I had I found myself standing in dried urine, and I'm sure it was urine for reasons I won't go into. This is a typical situation the last few years. Most of the riders are decent citizens who just want to get from point A to point B. If someone is troublesome it's best not to stare. If you are feeling really uncomfortable exit on the next stop and take another train, or if you are speedy enough you can hop on the next car. I keep seeing media reports of civilian helpers andmetro transit police on the trains, platforms and bus lines, but I haven't seen anyone official since the program started. To place in context, I'm not a daily rider, just occasionally.

Being aware of your surroundings is always a good thing at any transit stop.

They have something for every biker, no matter what skill level you are. This event is definitely family friendly. In the beginning years, I would ride the longer 50+ mile routes. Now, they have shortened the options down to 16, 25 or 32 miles that day. With multiple routes to choose from you can't go wrong! It's a beautiful experience to view the city and see how all the paths connect. Minneapolis/St. Paul have hundreds of miles of paved paths, so this ride can show you how to navigate them, rather than be intimidated. There is great signage to know which ways to turn to stay on course. The helpful rest stops supply delicious food and often music/entertainment along the way. The best part is the finish line! Here, you can get your free beer, visit the vender village and listen to a live band as you sit with fellow cyclists feeling proud of yourself!

It is pretty cheap ($4.50 for 6 hours per person)! It is very punctual as well. It has two lines: blue & green! Two of the exits are perfect for customers staying at the Marriott at the Mall of America as they are terminals for the Minnesota/St. Paul International Airport.

We parked at Mall of America, found a kiosk very easy, bought a 6-hour pass for the Blue Line to Target Field, and waited for the train. Trains and markings were easy to see and, it was hard not to miss other Twins fans milling around in the area waiting like we were. Took the train about 35 minutes or so to make it in to town and drop us off at Target Field, but we didn't have to look for a place to park, and pay a high price for parking. So, we were both very happy. You couldn't beat the price for the 6-hour pass for seniors ($2.00) and we got a nice ride back to the Mall with our drop off about 100 yards from the car. How sweet is that? Now ... if only the Rays would have won!
