As tourists staying in M'polis for a week we tried to visit this visitor center twice, but it was closed. The third time was a charm, but that was already halfway through our trip. It would have been nice to have been able to visit at the beginning of our stay when we needed information. We also found their 10-4 hours a little inconvenient as we like to get up and out early while on vacation. Besides that, the staff were very friendly and the store/info center is nicely appointed, if a little sparse. They do sell postcards if you're looking for some. Located near the Nicollet Metro station.

They sell souvenirs - including some from local artists. But the tourist information with maps of the metro, downtown, and tour info was what I needed. Thanks to the helpful staff, I learned about a Twin City Highlights bus tour that I'll take tomorrow. I loved the accents of the staff too! (I have a strong Boston accent.)

The street entrance is on the corner of Target Field, pay your fare in the lobby and then take a short flight of stairs down to the platform and you are set for the train. The free wifi on the train is an extra help to make your conte better. Just look for the cars that are labeled.

This is a handy stop to cross the river to reach the East Bank of the U of M campus. The Green Line trains may be getting better but the last ride I had I found myself standing in dried urine, and I'm sure it was urine for reasons I won't go into. This is a typical situation the last few years. Most of the riders are decent citizens who just want to get from point A to point B. If someone is troublesome it's best not to stare. If you are feeling really uncomfortable exit on the next stop and take another train, or if you are speedy enough you can hop on the next car. I keep seeing media reports of civilian helpers andmetro transit police on the trains, platforms and bus lines, but I haven't seen anyone official since the program started. To place in context, I'm not a daily rider, just occasionally.

Being aware of your surroundings is always a good thing at any transit stop.

It is an underground station (69 feet down), protected from the elements but still quite chilly on a cold day. The great thing about it is that it is very close to the exits of Terminal 1 airside, with clear signs to get there, not difficult to walk and easy to take escalators down. It opened in 2004, as part of the expansion of the Blue Line. It uses one platform, with one side going north and the other south. I understand due to existing limitations why other airports can't do this so conveniently, but in my opinion, this is the gold standard for how a modern airport should connect its passengers with mass transit. My wife and I took the train to downtown Minneapolis. Some things to notice: - no gates, making it easy to enter with baggage - train seems to run every 10 minutes - it took 20 minutes to get to the U.S. Bank Stadium station. Stations seemed to be placed at every 2 minute interval between downtown and the airport. Pretty sure that was not coincidence.

And the shopping options abound. One of my favorites is the Minnesota store. Some of the gates are quite a walk but if you have a short connection time a gate agent will page a golf cart for you.

When I flew into MSP, I took a ride-share to my hotel in Downtown Minneapolis. The signage was clear and it was easy to find where to go for pick-ups. This was my first trip to and time staying in the city, so I went with the Uber. However, after learning more about the city during my stay there, I learned about the METRO BLUE line train (light rail transit) and how it costs just $2 to get to the airport. On the way back home, I took the light rail to the airport. It was easy to navigate my way from the light rail to the Terminal. I made it to security and my gate easily. Security at MSP were friendly and professional. The is amply seating at the gates with many seats with power for charging devices. Lots of cute shops, artwork, and eateries to preoccupy yourself while waiting to board. Bathrooms are so clean! Terminal 1 MSP is a really nice!
