Wow, as many times as I have been here, I can't believe I haven't reviewed it yet. This Target is well organized. I like the fact that the home goods are on the first floor. The food section has an abundance of choices, but they usually only stock one or two different brands. They have a nice selection of clothing and a cute Sefora on the first floor, as well. They do need to hire some more people. Finding an employee to answer a question is a challenge. Truthfully, my secret reason for going to Target is the snacks. Yes, they always have my Baked Cheeto's and pineapple upside down cake LaraBars. I also really like their book section and I can always get my book club books here. I find Target to be a good value on some items and a little high on others. So, know, before you go! I will always be a Target shopper and I really like browsing through the store. I like this Target. I come here often enough - usually when I'm stopping in the garage to charge my car. I actually appreciate that this Target is two stories - I don't know, something about the set up just feels right to me. The things I usually come in for are on the main floor (food items, personal care, women's clothes/accessories), and on the second floor you'll find electronics, books, men's clothes (pretty sure), stationery, and home storage. The service here is fine - its definitely nothing to write home about, but I haven't had any particularly negative experiences. I will say that this location is quite often relatively busy, so you may want to pay attention to what time of day you're visiting if that is a concern for you. The prices here are just like any other Target - I don't necessarily find anything here that's a deal in comparison to another location. It took me a minute to remember this Target when I finally got to this review until I looked at the map, and it all came back to me. Since I first marked this one I have visited a few times out of sheer necessity and it was close by. Upon looking at the map, I remember the parking garage the most. What I remember about the parking garage is to not park on the second floor, it is the only floor that doesn't have a direct connection into the store. With it being a two-story Target you would think it would be nice in here, but what you find, at least to me, is confusing. I don't know how many times I had to go up or down before I just decided to aimlessly walk around the store. However, if you become smart to this, pull up the Target app and type in what you are looking for and it will guide you right to it. That happened to me here. I had aimlessly walked about the store looking for an item in departments I thought it should have been and could not find it, I was about to give up and pulled out the app. Interestingly enough the app took me to the shoe department for this item and it did not lie. Took me right to the item. The store has a cart escalator and elevator for your shopping needs. Trust me on this, use the escalators, they are much quicker to use. Selection appears to be good, the few times I have been here, I was able to find what I was looking for and more. However, what seems to be the major downfall here is the checkout area. No matter which floor you are on the lines are always backed up. And with the shortfall of registers being opened a majority of customers funnel into the self checkout line. Each time that I have been here, at least one of the self checkout lines is out of order, opened, with its guts pulled out. This always leads to a very slow exit of this place. read more

Getting in and out of here is challenging. The Rio Complex is huge. Then again so is this Target. Was pleased yesterday, to get a new Bluetooth speaker, as have to get bass and sound quality up. This is one of their busiest locations. Yet they seem to always have what's in stock. That's not always guaranteed. This company and others online counts aren't necessarily accurate. Yet this stores batting average is excellent. Got a nice deal, and the lines weren't too bad. This is a large location. Good employees and value for your money. This is a good location for Target - easy to get to in the Rio area. There is plenty of parking in the garage but finding is good spot can be a challenge. The staff is friendly and helpful. They do have all the stuff generally found in any Target. The store is well laid out and easy to navigate. They do have self checkout stations that makes quick shopping trips even better. read more

I thought I had reviewed this location, apparently no. However its long overdue. I had higher expectations at this location. They sure aint friendly or fully staff. I had a return and an employee stood at a cart scanning stuff, no hellos.. without looking up, said someone will be right out... well ok. Then some young guy comes out at was like Yeah?!! Im like what?? I was like I have a return... long story short, kindness goes a long way. The store is divided in 2 levels. Help is never around especially at night. Theres always price discrepancies. A-Okay, Target! This Target is very large. Similar to the one in Merrifield, VA. Two levels and I love that. I unfortunately made the decision to come on a Sunday the day before Christmas eve. It was PACKED! There was even a man directing people into the register lines. Probably won't make that mistake again. Aside from that, this target is awesome. I love their women's clothes selection. I always find cute work clothes and work out clothes. I literally always get lost in here. The parking is great because of the parking garage but also because there is a parking lot directly to the right of the target (bottom level). That's where I prefer to park versus the actual parking garage. I find this target to be well stocked with super affordable items. I could spend all time here. This Target in particular has self check out lines which is a win for me!! read more

I waited in the long line to buy my bag of potting soil. Drove home, opened the bag to find it filled with mold. Okay, not their fault I guess, drive back, wait in customer service line. Finally gets to my turn, and at this point it's been an hour of my time to buy a bag of soil. Can I do an even exchange? No. So I have to get back in the line again for my new soil? Yes. Can I check it first to make sure it isn't moldy? No. Can an employee check? No. So I have to get back in line, pay, then if it's moldy again you want me to get in this customer service line again and wait again to return it and repeat this process until I get a bag that isn't moldy? Yes that's our policy. If that's their policy, Target is garbage. If that's not their policy and they're just hiring lazy workers, Target is still trash. Turned out the price was wayyy cheaper at Home Depot anyway. 11/21/21 After the party and after Kohl's, It's off to Target for the underwear show. I did not find the u underwear size I need, but this Target had a lot more of the v shaped purple underwear by A Pair Of Thieves Once again I was looking for the Extended Breifs in XL, but the biggest they had were large. I am no longer a size 36 to 38. It would be nice, but my butt is a little bigger than it should be...no it not, it is my gut that is bigger. I don't have an ass like Olivia O' Lovely. If I did, my wife would have questions on her mind. Anyhow, I asked an associate for assistance, but this was her first day on the job and did not know how to look up things on her PDA. She got me someone who could help me and he look for it in the stock rooms. Unfortunately, this Target did not have it. I appreciate the effort he went through. At one point in time, I did not think Target have good clothing. This was because I replace my wardrobe with Kohl's Department Store Merchandise. I have since been replacing my Underwear with A Pair Of Thieves underwear, under shirts, tank tops and socks. Some other clothing like sweaters have been added too. I might end up finding something else this year for Winter. I've been stopping by this Target to pick up staple purchases for my family since I'd rather have me go than them. It's like the tables have turned, with me telling them that they can't go out and there's food at home. Teenage victory. For those wondering how this location has adapted to this covid-19 normal, they are doing a really good job at following rules and precautions. I saw all employees in facemasks and gloves, posted hour changes on all doors, covered trashcans, and an employee wiping down carts at the entrance. Each time I go, the paper towels, toilet paper and cleaning products have been emptied, with aisles looking like an abandoned ghost town. I'm not sure of their stocking schedule, so it could be me going at bad times. There are notes taped to the aisles about quantities, though. A bit of a warning: I did try to return something and was told no returns accepted between 3/26/20-4/26/20. Actually, she pointed to the sign and walked away, which seemed a little crass. Sensitivity and kindess go a long way during this time and I genuinely had no idea of the policy switch. read more

I went for one thing. Himalayan sea salt. I asked many of the staff for directions and I was unable to get help due to the language barriers. I only speak the Kings English, college level Spanish, and high school level French. These didn't help me yesterday! The store has a unique setup and nothing was where I expected. It has two floors and an escalator. Most of the staff was either talking to one another or shopping for themselves. This was my first time in the RIO area and I almost got hit by 56 van driving mothers around those crazy circles. I'm not a circle stopper. In jersey we don't stop at circles we drift around them... lol Overall it was a wal mart experience at Target and I learned a lot! read more

This Target is so cool, there is an escalator FOR YOUR SHOPPING CART. Yeah you read that correctly. You start off parking in parking garage and then head into the Target...and at first you are a little taken back because it seems a little small. Where is the Christmas section? Where is the electronic section? And then you walk into the middle of the store and notice that there are TWO FLOORS! I was a fool and didn't have a cart. I hopped on the escalator and starting looking around, the person behind me had a cart, and what did they do? They put it on the escalator! It is so cool, take your children here and trust me, they will look up from their smart phones. The rest of the store is just the same as any other Target, you will come here and find what you need. It is also very close to other stores that you can access from the same parking garage. Beware, I had to take 2 roundabouts to get to the parking garage. read more

As much as I love Target, this particular location struggles with their customer service, particularly at their customer service center. I have never had a positive experience with the retail sales associates at customer service. Most of them have terrible, negative attitudes and they project that onto their customers with their curt responses. Beyond the customer service center, other retail associates throughout the store have the same miserable attitude when asking a simple question or trying to ask for help. Also, a majority of the time this location goes months at time with many of their products being out of stock and sections of their stores will be bare. There are times the sales floor itself is incredibly messy and disorganized. I would skip this location and visit one of their other locations in the area. read more

Jeff went all the way to downstairs to get a flat shopping cart, helped me lift up, delivered, and uploaded it to my car in the parking lot. This store is in the Rio Lakefront shopping center. It is a short walk from the Barnes & Noble store that I like to go to when I am in area. In March 2022 this store was being remodeled. Masks were still required. The mask mandate has now been dropped. I stop here for grocery essentials from time to time. You would not believe how fast my 3 year old granddaughter & always hungry 5 year old grandson go through snacks and food at home! Pink lady apples & Good & Gather nut and date chocolate bars, apple sauce pouches, organic pasta sauce & tomato ketchup and Chick-fil-A sauce are just some of the stuff we buy at Target. I buy men's clothing and shoes here also. The store brand has a very high quality.The regular price of groceries is good but have risen recently. The sales are even better like 25 percent off two 10 packs of nut and date bars. With 5 percent off when using the target card and target circle deals you can get even better prices. When I did have trouble finding non food items during the remodel the employees were friendly & helpful. Whole sections of the store were moving around. Parking is free in the garage across from the store's front door. There's plenty of parking with 2 more free parking garages just down the street. All free! Thanks target 3 out of 3 preorders arriving damaged. I preordered back in November to ensure I got a preorder. I spoke to customer service 5$ gift card I don't care about I didn't want to return a item that I can't buy retail anywhere this damage was done on purpose and warehouse people who couldn't get one slashed both seals!!! Same with the charizard upc returned both. Apparently the lady I spoke to said this is the way target ships things and there's no issue. Worst part the damage is not from the packing packed better than usual both seals cut. TARGET HAS LOST ITS JU-JU BY NOT HONORING PROMOS. I used to LOVE Target. But no more. In the past seven months I have come to think that Target is simply money-grubbing - at least the Gaithersburg store is. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've been to this store in 2020, an advertised promotional price has not rung up. I've had to engage cashiers and customer service people to get the promotional prices. Come on, Target. You know what you're doing. Think you can get away with being SNEAKY?!? Today's example (8/3/2020): A promotion offers a $5 gift card when you purchase $20 of beauty products. Of course, my receipt did not provide the gift card so I had to go to customer service. This has happened to me, endlessly. It seems like Target is just counting on people forgetting the promotion and/or not wanting to stand in line for customer service. Another example today (8/3/2020): A promotion offers $8 t-shirts (specified brands) for $7 each if you buy more than two. Nope! Per their mode of operation, this discount did not ring up. I had to engage a cashier who spent several minutes changing the receipt. I have seven months of examples like these - examples where I figured I'd have a problem at the checkout and took photos of the promo items on the shelf to quibble with the check out staff about the advertised price. Shameful! I've been told by Target employees that this happens all the time! So .... Target shoppers, beware! And when you find you're being ripped off (and believe me you will) register a complaint. I've definitely lost my groove for the Gaithersburg store. I will try another Target. If I find the same thing, it will be time to ask for consumer agencies and media and to look into this. Target delivery: just don't. They have a whole lot of changing to do if they want to keep up with Amazon. This is the third shipment where something liquid has spilled. The first two were ordered by my husband who then warned me never to order liquids but I ignored his advice; I thought- maybe they fixed the system. Surely they can't mess it up this many times without making significant changes, right? Wow was I overestimating Target's Quality Management program. My thought now is that Target probably doesn't even have a Quality Management program. So on my last order, the Woolite leaked and went EVERYWHERE!!! They (of course) packed all the paper products in with the liquid products so everything in the box is ruined. I don't typically write many reviews of chain/big box stores. When I do, it is usually in response to a poor experience or something extremely positive. In this case, it is more in response to disagree with other poor reviews. While I can't dispute other people's experiences, I can say I've never had issues with this target location. I often stay in a hotel in the Rio while traveling for work. Over time this has meant plenty of trips to Target for forgotten items, quick snacks, or to get some routine shopping done while I've had time. The 2 floors may make the layout a bit unique, but I've always found what I'm looking for with a variety of options to select between. The store is clean and the staff has been nothing but nice during my few encounters with them. Basically, I'm saying its a reliable target. read more

I've gone to this Target for years, but recently I've been disappointed with some things I believe are noteworthy. As I went to check out, I noticed there was only ONE open register (which is already an issue alone because rarely do I see most registers even open) and the line was extremely long at self-checkout. I went into this register line and the cashier became increasingly frustrated as more costumers entered his line. I understand that having this job isn't always easy...but as a cashier and staff member it is the bare minimum to treat your customers with kindness and put your personal issues aside until after you leave. read more

The Starbucks team is great! They are friendly and get orders out quickly. Upper store management is also good and tries to make things right. However, the Guest Services team is consistently AWFUL. They are consistent in making up policies on the fly and only offer rude and impolite customer service. Management at the lower level covers for the incompetence and disrespect of the employees working for them. Frustrating to no end...expect a battle or a war over a 25 dollar transaction which will take you through a 25 minute more more ordeal. Sad that these are the folks who interact with customers...how many unpleasant experiences will customers have to endure until they change out this part of the store team? read more

Ideal location...beautiful establishment...but I'd drive miles out of town before I shop here again. VERY poor inventory management! I frequent the location only because it's the closest to my home, but at this point, I'd rather go without. How is it that I order online for items that show in stock, yet 90% of my online orders come back that the item is not available!! HOW!?! It's either the people in the store are too lazy to search for the item, the crew doesn't purge the shelves for misplaced items and put them in their designated location, or they don't electronically keep track of items available in the store. It sickens me that this happens over and over again. I'm part to blame for even shopping here, but here I am...AGAIN! Let me start by saying I love Target in general. Ever since they started the no hassle return policy, I've been a fan. Target is like Walmart's fancy cousin as it offers a higher brand and of course "targets" a different customer base. I hate Walmart. Anytime I go to one, I feel stressed. It's not the quality of products cuz I get that part. It's just the whole look and feel of the place. Maybe I'm just spoiled now that I have money and I've visited my share of Kmarts, Walmart's, and other lower end discount stores when I was poor. I've evolved and changed. I've become the person that I used to hate. I didn't "keep it real". You know what? I don't care and I embrace it now! I will pay for quality and value both. Which finally brings me to why I love Target. This location in Rio is my favorite. Far better than Germantown and Rockville location. I know they all look similar but I just like this location. Parking is easy and I can easily walk from the garage from the bottom or 3rd level. I go there frequently with my 2 year old to let him play with toys. I also like that I can purchase groceries too which means I don't have to go somewhere else. The red shirt workers are friendly and helpful. The return area has been renovated and their policy is awesome. They truly value customer service and make it a priority to make it super easy to return items. Food court area is well...food court area. I don't go to bootleg Starbucks (Starbucks in Targets, bookstores and airports is considered fake to me). But it's good if you need a quick pizza or just a drink. The Good: - return area is nice, policy is great, customer friendly - checkout counters where you can swipe your card at anytime to save those extra 20-30 seconds in your life - decent prices for better quality - great parking, easy access - close to other Rio spots - great for kids! The Bad: - the goods can be bad for kids as they may want every toy, candy, junk food as you pry them off the floor during a temper tantrum - supplies can be lacking at times for popular items The Ugly: - bathrooms can be gross sometimes so they prob need to do better job of cleaning constantly read more

Went here with my 5-year old son tonight. There were 10 - 20, maybe as many as 25 teenagers here all together running around the store, playing tag, and generally making a nuisance. No employee said anything, no security, nothing. At one point, one of them ran by us through the aisles at full speed, turning corners without knowing if someone was on the other side. I wonder what would happen if they ran into a little kid or in any way hurt someone. read more

Came in to get a tv remote and security cam. Associates have no customer service skills. When I asked where is the remote associate just Pointed with her finger instead of escorting me to the location of it. When I asked for the security cam which states it's on sale for $60 it was inaccurate. What was on sale was in a different isle. Very misleading information. Associate acted as if I was going to steal the item. Bathroom also dirty. It gets 2 stars because I was in and out and was able to find help. Came back to return the Ring security cam because the bottom piece wouldn't click and asked for help. Associate in tech states he knows nothing about it. This store has become a hot mess in the last few years. It used to be well run, but it's a disaster every time I come in here now. This evening when I checked out they had *zero* checkers working and a giant line extending all the way down the store for the 4 self-check registers. Here's a tip--tear out half of the (mostly un-used) registers and put in another 6 self-check registers. There were plenty of employees standing around chit chatting, and doing nothing to help customers. Multiple times I've stopped by do do some light shopping, encountered a giant checkout line and just given up. Yes, there are supply chain and staffing issues everywhere, but this store is badly managed and the staff that is there is beyond caring. Target has turned into the K-Mart of yore. read more

Please Read To the End!!! I shopped here because they had the Kahlana Brown Collection and I wanted to support Black designers. I bought a vibrant sexy purple sweater with back cut outs. It's not that off color either like so many Target pieces. Then on my way to the check out I find a beautiful oversized mustard color v neck sweater and while I'm looking in the mirror I spy a rack of colorful $5 tees. I grabbed an orange one. I'm so happy now that I also buy some cosmetics to go with my new tops. Um, only the $5 tee had a sensor‍. This Target at the Rio is awesome!!! The problem is I live in walking distance of the Rockville store and only 2 miles to their other step child's store in Wheaton. It's like they RE-routed all the good stuff to Rio. They treat Rockville and Wheaton like the poor step kids of the first wife who was there when dad had nothing!! read more
