Totally good service here! From the associates to the pharmacy staff to the checkout. Everyone is helpful and not rushed! The pharmacy staff had helped me to get my drug coverage without hesitation. She explained everything that we were going to do- as this is the first time picking up medication it will take about 5 minutes to enter info. (Of course it was faster) and when my drug coverage wasn't accepting the medication and 255.00 was due - she somehow went into the system after asking me a few questions and later came back with 10.00 as my copay- I am appreciative as some would make us call ourselves. The VOG is affecting him and needs this medication in solution form for the nebulizer vs his inhalers. Even the checkout prison was friendly! She is an awesome packer (as this island has a program that the shopper brings their own bags vs using plastic bags with a charge of 0.05 each) It makes a difference to get good service! read more

Not really sure what happened today. I had been shopping across the whole store for about 45 minutes and my cart was pretty full. Cold medicine, snacks, water jugs, toiletries, etc. I passed by the Halloween candy section and it was pretty crowded, so I decided to park my cart at the end of the aisle to grab what I needed and come back. I wasn't down the aisle longer than 10 seconds and when I came back, my cart was GONE! I thought I was losing my mind. I went around in circles looking at other people's carts like a crazy person and didn't find it. There were many Target employees around and all I could think was that one of them grabbed it and took it to the back to put everything back. I went around and around for a few more minutes in disbelief - I was only gone for 10 seconds. I had to go all the way back up to the front of the store and get a new cart and start all over. Like I said , I'm still not sure who took my cart, but if it was an employee, I sure hope they'd wait at least a few minutes before they assume a cart has been abandoned. It all happened in a matter of seconds and it really upset me. I had been all across the store shopping and getting things for a sick husband waiting at home. Really bizarre and annoying. read more

This store has the absolute worst customer service‼I will never shop here again. I have made multiple trips to pick up items I was charged for, only to be told when I get there that the inventory was incorrect. Upon further query the item was in stock but had to be assembled. Causing me yet another return trip. The "guest services" staff are by and large rude. A customer in the aisle overheard my request and told me she closed her Target card because she was constantly double or triple charged. Today I was asked to call the store if I have questions and the phone rang 50 times with no answer. This has happened numerous times. I have NEVER WITNESSED SUCH UNPROFESSIONAL ATTITUDES. I was surprised by the lack of enforcement or required ppe that Target employee were wearing on my last visit to the store to buy essential needs. When I asked a young employee why she was not wearing a mask when even the governor of Hawaii asked that we all wear masks when in public, she said,"we are not required to". Of course my answer was I can't emagine why anyone should require you to protect yourself and others, it would be common sense." I have been shopping at this Kona Target since it opened about 10-12 years ago. I like Target- the merchandise, the store, the people who work there. That is why I was absolutely dumbfounded and outraged that they would not exchange the defective $169:Sonicare toothbrush I purchased on 7/15. They told me that it was not the same as the one pictured on the box! Apparently someone had inserted another model. Local goodies! This Target carries some local products and is good for a one stop shop. I got the medicine I needed, a post card, and they have the tea I like that's made in Hawaii! They also have local honey and macadamia nuts! This is a good place to stock up on gifts to bring home to the mainland. Bathrooms are clean and they have all the things you expect to find at a Target. Parking is easy, and I had a positive experience with the pharmacy inside. My only complaint is that the check out line was a bit long every time I went here. They could stand to open some more registers. read more

I was in this store today and I would like to know why this Target store and other Targets do not monitor "service/support" dogs coming into their stores. I know they supposedly are allowed, but almost all of the dogs I have seen are Not service/support dogs! There should be someone at the front door monitoring this? Are they not suppose to have some kind of identification? To me it is Very disgusting to see dogs sitting in the grocery baskets where food goes! And walking down the isle seeing them urinating! With Hawaii being so expensive and very little options for affordable shopping, Target has definitely helped out family and our budget. Because they are a mainland store, they honor all the mainland prices! It is wonderful and way cheaper than places like foodland or KTA especially for everyday items. They have a great selection of lots of items but they dont have a lot of organic items. However there isnt a lot you cant find. My favorite option about target is shop online/on the app and pick up in store. With this option, you can buy things and groceries from your bed or late at night and then just walk to the customer service desk and the items will be all pulled for you. Great if you are in a rush or just lazy like me. ONLY downside is that you cant get fresh items like Milk, meat or fruits. IDk why, walmart has this option. They also dont have an area where they associates can just drop off your groceries like Walmart. Overall great experience everytime! The same grocery and regular store as at home. Bags are cloth(ish) and you will have to buy, but great carrying bags for beach trips. Prices aren't overly expensive. Recommend local farmers market for produce and Hawaii printed clothes or items (prices are high at Target). While I really enjoy this Target and all it's beach amenities and vacation must-haves, I really enjoy it more for its daily offerings of SM. Now for all you haters you poo-poos on Spam, try it. You might really like it. It's a great snack and so compact you can stuff it in your purse. For vacationers- don't forget to stop and peruse the gift items to take back home. Maybe one of the few places in Kona that tourists and locals can agree on. This Target is huge, and if you are visiting and forgot some toiletries, they have that. If you need to buy gifts for the person getting your mail or walking your dog, they have that. If you are staying in a condo and need some basic food staples, they have that AND the coolers/freezers light up only when motion-activated. How neat is that? Need some more batteries or memory for your camera? Check. This Target is less than 6 months old and they are conveniently located close to the touristy part of Kona. To start, I am a moderately, borderline heavily, tattooed woman. I am not ignorant to the fact that presenting myself this way comes with it's level of social judgment. However, when shopping at a business, I do expect a level of professionalism from the employees, regardless of their personal opinions. Especially because my entire career is in customer service and management. After trying on some clothes and talking to the cheery women manning the dressing room, I walked away with a cute bathing suit and a light feeling from the kindness of the ladies employed in that area. HOWEVER, as soon as I turned the corner, they started talking about my tattoos. One woman was sweet and open minded in expressing her opinions, but the other stated that she couldn't understand it and that she thought I was DISGUSTING. Now, whatever stigmas that apply to "the tattooed" absolutely do not reside within me. I am sensitive and caring. I, much like the next person, am not hardened to the point that when someone calls me disgusting that I can just walk away. I am a woman that takes pride in her appearance and I love to feel beautiful. After hearing her comment, I began to cry and put my bathing suit back with the intention of walking out the door. I did quickly stop at the customer service counter and asked to speak with a manager before leaving. This is LITERALLY the only reason why I even return on the EXTREMELY RARE occasion. She assured me that it would be handled and encouraged me to report my experience in whatever way I felt necessary. But, that was really where it ended. I have returened twice. But, only out of necessity. I avoid it to the extreme because I want nothing to do with contributing my business to a company that would employ people that say such mean and hurtful things. If you work in customer service there is a level of expectation that you refrain from saying cruel things about your customers when you are on the clock and representing your company. I am very sad that this was my experience (especially because while living away from home Target was my #1 retailer for literally everything) and thinking back on it still makes me tear up. I don't know what it is about Target Stores that make them different from the others... Yeah, it's Target, but for some reason, everytime you walk in, you are greeted with a clean, brightly lit and welcoming store. No exception here! After walking around a bit, I noticed this Store was exceptionally clean. The racks weren't in disarray, like the Walmart down the street, and everything seemed to be set up as it is at almost every other Target Store I've visited. Plus, the bathroom was clean! I walked around to check out the stuff, looking to price compare. Same prices as the Maui Store and it seemed they stocked the same products. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, so I can't rave about their prices being better than the competitors on the Big Island, but my only disappointment was they did not stock much of the local Omiyage (take home gifts) such as Big Island Candies products or the potato chips made on the Big Island. If the Store Manager or Merchandiser is reading this, stock more Big Island made products! I'm pretty sure you'd attract the mainland tourist who is a frequent Target shopper, who is looking for something different than what they have at the Target back home! We were looking for stuff to take back to Maui, but unfortunately, had to leave empty handed and drive to KTA for these items. Quite possibly the biggest target that I've ever been in! It's great to have the comfort of being able to find almost anything and everything you can on the Big Island. In the beginning section, you can find a plethora of souvenirs and even their famous spam section. We came here thinking, it would be one of many stops during the night and ended up being able to get everything we needed here. It feels kinda weird writing a review for Target. I feel I must though, as it is my duty in that it appears my ever so frequent check ins here has made me the Duke. Life before Target was much different in Kona. Tha could be said before every big box store that has opened its doors here over the last few decades. I do remember Kona before ANY big box store. How we survived, I don't know, but we did. It would be much more difficult to do nowadays though. Anyhow, Target is Target and super Targets are the same as well. Not all are created equal though. I have been to many a Target on the mainland that do not come close to Konas in service and cleanliness. What I love most about Kona Target is no matter when I go, it is clean. When I go to the other big box place in town (I won't mention names), I leave there wanting to take a shower. Seriously so nasty. Target seems to have a million people working there, I see red shirts everywhere. I wear a blue shirt everyday with my company logo on it that ISN'T Target, yet somehow so many people come up and start asking me questions until they realize I don't work there. Haha The store is always super clean, that goes for bathrooms and the parking lot as well. Next time you go to the other big box store, look down when you walk and you will notice 4 million black spots- hardened gum that dried up will stay there for a few more decades until someone decides to learn about power washing. Target is not only very clean, but the service is always good. The prices can vary. You may find some things cheaper elsewhere, but I stick with Target. I feel any negligent difference in cost is worth paying, to keep my sanity from the drama that is omnipresent at the other store. Plus, I often use Carthweel (Target's coupon app), and there are frequently pretty good deals. Lately, I often like to purchase small stuff online, and pick it up after work on the way home. Saves me time from having to walk around the store and succumb to impulse buying, which I can be a sucker for from time to time. Not to mention, I just bought a TV, and the special discount was 10% off if you order online and pick up in store. That saved me $30 for zero effort. Lastly, after your shopping is over, you can hit the Starbucks which is in the store right before the exit. Convenience at its finest. read more

Normally I stay away from places like Target when I'm on vacation but, I'm glad I threw that rule out the window this time! We were on the Big Island just after Christmas and thought it would be fun to pick up some Hawaiian style ornaments during our trip. Places like the ABC Stores do not have "After Christmas Sales" but Target does! The same ornaments we saw at the ABC Stores for $5.99 were $1.25 at Target! This Target is brand new, beautiful and set up to appeal to both locals and visitors. Why else would there be a shelves dedicated to SPAM souvenirs? My friends tease me and say that Target is my mother ship. Well, I guess I proved it to be true because when I saw this big Target, I had to go check it out. It was calling to me I swear! And...wow, if only Targets in CA were this serenely quiet, well stocked and well organized. *sigh* I actually had more than one Target employee ask if I needed assistance in finding anything. I didn't even chase them down, they came and found me! They must have confused the look of awe on my face as being lost. What's different about this Target is that instead of the dollar shop, they sell Hawaiian souvenirs, which as a tourist, I found really cool. They also have Aloha shelves at each section, which would sell Hawaiian-related items associated to that area. For instance, in bedding, the Aloha shelf carried Hawaiian quilts. In cosmetics, the Aloha shelf carried typical Hawaiian scented soaps and lotions. You get the idea... Their clothing choices aren't nearly as cute as what we've got in CA. Clearly they have different buyers and different demands. BUT if you find something here that you've been eyeing at a Target back home AND it can fit in your suitcase -- here's your excuse to get it because sales tax is about half of what we pay in the states!!! Leave it to me to find a Target while vacationing in paradise. I legit needed some saline solution, though. If you forgot something while packing for vacation, this is the place to get it-very conveniently located between downtown Kona and the airport. This Target is HUGE and seems pretty new-jealous of how well stocked and spacious it is, in comparison to other Targets on the mainland. The best part of all? They sell souvenirs at a great price! Amongst my finds-a vintage Hawaiian travel poster series 2015 calendar for $13.99 and Hawaiian host chocolates for $2.99. They call it the Aloha shop! It's got a treasure trove of other items in this section, which is front and center when you enter the store. It's a great one stop shop for both practical and fun needs. I'm semi-jealous of this Target because it's newer, bigger, better than all of the Targets we have in our Bay Area. They've got all the amenities and space that we wish we could have back at home! I'm not sure how the locals feel... especially the local business owners, but It's very convenient and you can pretty much buy everything all in one places. I'm a huge fan of their souvenir section as you can't always find something to bring back home. We buy all of our groceries here for breakfast/lunch. Whatever you do, do not purchase the extended warranties from Target. I bought one for my XBOX and just to get a giftcard (for the price of the item now which is less than before) to replace it after it broke has taken over a month and I'm still waiting. Here's how my experience has gone so far: I bring in my broken XBOX and the "Manager" named Rachael takes my receipt and says "You shoudl've got the extended warranty plan". I show her on the receipt that I indeed did purchase the warranty plan. She then tells me I have to "Bring in the little yellow paper with the plans code on it". I then show her that it is on the receipt itself. She tells me without the code that there is nothing she can do. I ask her to get someone who can do something. She then grudgingly dials the number for the warranty plan. I talk to someone and give all my information. This takes approximately 20 minutes. They then tell me they will email a mailing label so that I can send the unit back in order to get my card. I have to email them three times before I finally get it. I drive to a ups store and buy a $7 box to ship it in. I get confirmation emails a week later saying they are sending out my giftcard. After 6 more emails and three phone calls I'm still waiting. Target extended warranties suck. The regular employees are very helpful and accommodating...Some of the managers suck. One in particular named Jennifer extremely sucks and is very unhelpful...I hate to give this shop a bad rating based on one person but when that person represents management then i have to. This is the second time that I've been screwed when trying to use one of their coupons. I bought $10.25 of baking items (I read the fine print and everything I got was NOT qualifying as "excluded") to get a $3 coupon and I was told the stuff I bought actually didn't qualify. All this Target does is bait and switch. The last time I was screwed over was for a $5 gift card with a purchase of $50...I bought over $150 and customer service still wouldn't give me the $5 card. I think that Target is a little bit pricier than WalMart, but I still come here anyways to check out their selection. I love it when their items go on sale. I once got a super cute purse at such a reasonable price. I also got some "ballet flats" for a cheap price too. They have a nice selection of groceries as well as frozen foods. Near the entrance/exit is a Starbucks and Pizza Hut express. I'm not much of a coffee person so I don't go to Starbucks, but they have a decent amount of seating. The Pizza Hut here sells things like personal pans and whatnot. They also sell popcorn! The parking lot is nice and spacious, with AT&T and McDonalds (and some other businesses) being on the other side of the parking lot. This shopping center is actually across the street of Petco and Office Max and whatnot. read more

My husband and I stopped at the Target store in Kailua Kona. We just needed to purchase a gallon of a fantastic organic milk they stock, Horizon Organic. It is the best milk we have ever purchased. There were only 1/2 gallon cartons in the refrigerators. A Target staff member was near by and offered to check stock for the 1 gallon size. She said they had it in stock and she would meet us at customer service. In just a few minutes Noti came with the item as promised. She rang up up and we were on our way. They just arrived on Maui and everyone is very excited. One of my favorite stores for this type and badly needed on Maui. They did a great job on hiring their staff. Each associate I ran across had a great Aloha spirit even though they were slammed. Found everything I needed and no problem checking out because they did a great job staffing for the grand opening. Target to hold their Grand Opening for their first Maui store on March 8. Located in a former sugarcane field and in the shadow of the historic Pu'unene Sugar Mill, it is the main anchor store in the yet to be completed Pu'unene Shopping Center. This will be the company's 6th Hawaii location (a new store in Kailua, O'ahu will also be opening). An invitation only preview was held on March 3, giving Maui residents an opportunity to see what Target has to offer (The store will be open to the general public on March 4, as part of their soft opening). This store provides all that you find in a Target: brightly lit and shoppable aisles, great and trendy merchandise, and comparable priced or less expensive items. It also offers a pharmacy, a fresh grocery department, Cafe, Pizza Hut, and a Starbucks (yay!). The thing that I love about going there is that you KNOW you're at Target: the red accents, the red round bollards at the entrance, and the bullseye logo (fact: 96% of people recognize the Bullseye logo nudging out Apple and the Nike swoosh **). Unlike most Big Box retailers that just put up a nondescript building and make it "fit in", Target is not shy about saying who they are, and a prime example is the exterior appearance of their stores. Albeit that this store follows a general template (red accents, the neon, the large glassed-in entry, AND those round red bollards), they've added a decidedly local touch while keeping their brand identity. Vertical bands of the chevron pattern are integrated into the walls of the structure, and in the metal wall trellises. The faux stone on the exterior walls and planters mimic quarried white coral. The pergola columns are also wrapped in this stone, and topped with stained wood beams and purlins which add warmth and finishes the look. It's great that they've finally opened here on Maui, and I'm sure they'll shake up the Big Box retail experience!
