I have always loved shopping at this Target location before, but recently I've been extremely disappointed. So many of the items in the store are locked behind glass (I get it...theft is a problem), but the problem is they don't have associates available to get the locked items for you when you "ring" the bell. I've waited for a good 10 minutes, and no one comes to get you what you need. I mean does $6.00 eye makeup remover need to be locked up? So I'm buying more on Amazon now so I'm not standing there like an idiot assuming I'll be helped. Another issue at this location is that they don't have any lanes open early in the morning. Fine, but then why aren't the 4 self check registers available? There has only been 2 functioning for the past month at least, the other 2 say "closed". So customers have no choice but to self check, and there's only 2 self check registers available? So plan to have to wait in line, even early in the morning. Lastly, the last two times I've shopped there I have parked over on the side parking lot (by the Chronic Tacos and the movie theater) as opposed to right in front. But be warned....your shopping cart will lock up before you get to your vehicle! So if you have heavier items like soda cases, etc., plan to have to carry them by hand to your vehicle. So why Target do you have cart returns there when your carts are programmed to lock up well before getting there? So frustrating, and as I said, I'll be buying more on Amazon to avoid the frustration of shopping here. It's sad because it used to be a great place to shop. Step it up Lakewood Target! read more

Worst Target location. I walk in and a thief passes by me. Heavyset walking slower than a toddler and the employee was pretty much whispering .. hey please stop.. then he stops to hang out with female employee the remainder of my 30 min trip there. I needed the wheelchair because I had a surgery it stopped in the middle of the store and broke. Which was fine I was only doing to make my friend happy. I asked if they had another one. She was rude said no and went back to talking to her co worker friend. I bought a tank top and didnt know it had been worn, stained and ripped so I went to exchange it 2 weeks later. The return counter had 3 employees taking returns I got in line behind one other person. 2 of the employees finished with their customers and disappeared to do non customer related tasks in front of us. When it was my turn the lady said oh wait I don't know how to do returns (why are you working the return counter) she asked me 3 times if I had the receipt. YES I DO!!!!! So she gets one of the employees to help, that lady came up and took another customer to help first and told me to wait. What? I had been waiting 10 min and a person who just walks up gets to be helped first? I was shocked. I grabbed my things and left. Will never go to this ghetto, dirty, and rude location EVER again. read more

It's Target, so they're all similar in layout and carry similar items. Just that this one is extremely small for how big of a market they have here. Also, prices on shelves are not consistent with UPC code. There has been many times I've bought something with the price ringing up differently but didn't notice until I got home. I don't ever bother to run back because it's usually less than a dollar per item, but it adds up after multiple trips. Anyone who knows me, will know that I usually drop $200-300 on one trip easily. With that being said, I didn't feel like I was treated like a customer today (2/14/2015). Anyway, so the story is that I had purchased a grilled cheese sandwich for our son on our way out. The first time, the lady left it in the toaster for too long and she handed me a burnt sandwich with unmelted cold cheese. So doing what any mother whose intention was to feed this sandwich to her 2 year old, I told her I don't want to complain and asked her to please make me a new one. So she did. The second sandwich, the toast was fine until I opened up the sandwich and saw that there was still an unmelted slice of cheese. My first instinct was to test it with my finger. Yup, cold hard cheese. Then I overheard the lady muttering under her breathe to the other girl that I wasn't happy with the sandwich. So I went back up to the counter to ask if there was any way I could have the cheese melted. The lady and the other younger girl didn't acknowledge what I was saying at all and just grabbed the sandwich with this look on their faces (the resting bitch face). No response. No apology whatsoever. So I said, forget it and give me a refund. I then went to speak with a manager (young, Hispanic girl) and after explaining what had happened and how I wasn't upset because of the sandwich and that I was only upset due to their non-apologetic, poor customer service, all she said was "I'm sorry. I don't know who is working over there but I'll speak with them" then went back to talking to her friend. Most likely, she won't ever do anything about it. And sorry, but that isn't the response you're supposed to give to a customer. Didn't they teach these people anything about customer service before throwing them onto the floor? I am guessing NO, because of the way most of the employees act. Even management. Don't work in retail if you have no desire to provide great customer service to PEOPLE. OUR satisfaction should be top priority. But I guess it doesn't matter at all when this is just a McJob paycheck to them. tl;dr - extremely poor customer service and management is a joke. Shop here if you like being treated like crap when problems arise. More than likely, they won't get to the bottom of things. Anyway, I will take my complaint up to corporate and hopefully, they will trickle it down and pound the importance of customer service to the entire store. read more

Used to love coming to this Target but recently been confronted with disrespectful workers who make me feel uncomfortable to the point of not wanting to shop here anymore. Girl at checkout looked at me like "ugh why are you in my lane" and a girl stocking the beauty department got annoyed at me for no reason as I was trying to get out of her way so she could stock. When I worked in retail/fast food I was never rude to the customer, never had a reason to be even if I was having a bad day. If you hate your job I don't care, it is your choice to work here and be a representative of the company. When you are kind to the workers and they are rude to you what is the point? I hate to give bad reviews but when I went I did not have a pleasant shopping experience. Items on the shelf and racks were disorganized. It looked really messy. The bathrooms were worse. I haven't shopped much at Target before last week. But my goodness they have changed! I went in to buy a vacuum. They had several listed on sale but there was none there on the shelf. So, I flagged down a young man and questioned him about product versus sale. He called a supervisor and asked if there was any in back that hadn't been put out yet. They were in the process of restocking shelves. Yes, there were! He said it might be a bit to get it out. Less than 10 minutes here he was with my vacuum and a sale ticket on it! Excellent service! They have really upgraded the store merchandise. From groceries to clothing to kitchen items etc. Their pricing was in comparison to WalMart. The store is clean, calm, bright with excellent service. I think it's awesome that Target has food (real food that I can cook) that I can pick up at the same time I pick up my prescriptions - and pay for everything at the pharmacy counter. So there is nothing technically wrong with this location other than they normally only have 2 cashiers open during the afternoon rush. Bring pretty close to jblm everyone flocks here for generic needs and getting out of here is the hardest part. I wish my wait time wasn't longer than my actual shop time. My review is based off my recent trip where my friend and I came to this location to browse Christmas trees. We were sad to find that the trees we wanted were not in stock and asked the staff nearby if they had any in the backroom. They scanned and told us that the South Hill mall had a lot of our trees in stock. We asked if they could call up the other store and they flat out said No, turned around and started chatting away. NOT COOL! I don't live in this area anymore so I don't frequent this store, but it's still a great Target and it's located in a shopping plaza with lots of other shops. read more

Buying back to school clothes and found a cute baby today shirt for my daughter. Went to check out and there was an issue. Apparently shirt wasn't suppose to be on the floor until later that evening. This particular location is so-so, meaning that it's definately not the biggest but tends to have items that other bigger stores don't and I can't quite figure out why the reason for this????? Went in this afternoon with my teenage daughter and decided to wait in the cafe area. The first thing I noticed upon entering the store was the amount of litter and leaf debris in the front area near the shopping carts. But it's been super rainy today, so I figured the maintenance folks would surely be around at some point in the next 30 minutes or so to clean and sweep. When I walked into the cafe the clerk told me the soda machine was broken (no problem, life happens), so I picked out a soda from a cooler near one of the main checkout areas. I paid for my popcorn and drink in the cafe and then turned around to find a table. The entire cafe seating area was a mess: food and wrappers littered the floor (it wasn't just one errant paper from a straw, trust me), tables were very dirty, and there were no napkins in either of the napkin dispensers. I went back to the counter to ask the clerk for a napkin and to let her know that the dispensers were empty. She was at the end of the counter refilling the popcorn machine (no problem-it's a task that needs to be done), but she saw me standing there for minutes and didn't even acknowledge me. At all. Finally she was done with the popcorn machine and she came over and half-heartedly asked what I needed. I politely told her the napkin dispensers were empty and she turned around and ripped off two paper towels from the food workers' sink area. Okay, no problem, that was probably quicker for her to do than to run to the back and bring back a supply of napkins and give me one from there. I used one of the napkins to wipe off the one table that didn't have a wet mess on it and I sat down. The clerk disappeared to the back, out of sight of customers, for a good ten minutes (I had a view of the area behind the cafe's counter) while no one was up front at the counter. When she returned, she did nothing to restock the napkins or clean anything. I thought, "well, they may have a policy where workers can't leave from behind the counter, so she has to wait for another employee to show up so they can get the seating area cleaned." Another worker showed up for his shift and as I waited another fifteen minutes for my daughter to finish her shopping, no one came out from behind to tend to the seating area. Astonishing. I was absolutely stunned. As we walked out the entry way was even dirtier than when we had arrived. We moved here from a much, much larger city and have been consistently disappointed with how this Lakewood Target is maintained. It is obvious there is no pride in ownership among the employees. Target used to be a fun "escape" for me and a pretty significant shopping destination, but no one likes to sit in filth. I'll find a new happy place. read more

Went to target the other day to pick up a few items one of them was a iTunes gift card after I had left the store I tried claiming it in the car of the parking lot of the store but it said the code wasn't valid. I went back inside to ask for either a refund or a replacement of the card most of the employees were ok but the manager by the name of dee was useless saying the card was successfully activated at the store and the receipt had said no returns. So the manager was completely useless. I just tried to rectify the situation but nothing was done. I've been going there for years but after this experience won't be buying any gift cards from them at all anymore my brother looked it up and found a bunch of articles that it was a scam so don't buy any gifts cards. What happened to a company standing by its customer? Worst service I have received at the store and won't b rushing back anytime soon. read more

This is pretty much your standard Target. It has all your red bullseye apparel and products as well as an enlarged grocery area. The location of this target is in the Towne Center, so of course it's going to be fairly busy during any time of the day you go. And I do recommend going during the day... this place seems to lack significant lighting around the outside of the store and in the parking lots. So if you're parking in the Target lot because the AMC theatre lots are full, just be careful! And on a side note... All of the Target's around here are backwards! The Target that I live by is an exact mirror image of the two tacoma/lakewood area Targets but I suppose that's okay if you can get used to it. read more

I've always been a fan of Target and remember when this store first broke ground. It's the one place in town where you're guaranteed to run into someone from high school who still lives and shops in the area (oh fun!) I stopped by yesterday to pick up some eye drops for my Dad and discovered they are mid-renovation. The signs & giant storage containers seemed to say they were being upgraded to groceries and a "Super Target." It's been almost 20 years since that Target first opened and I was over-joyed. After talking to the rude pharmacist to ask where the eye drops were, she told me it's only getting frozen foods & light fruit. What a buzzkill. Typical Lakewood shops. Came in and purchased a bunch of stuff for my sons 1st birthday. Got two of the same beverage dispensers that were on sale for $23.39. Cashier couldn't scan the barcode for some reason and looked up the item on her phone. Then she charged me $25.99 when I told her it was $23.39 without telling me that the item rang up for $25.99. I told her that I saw it on sale for $23.39 and she told me she couldn't change the price without proof. I then asked if I could go take a picture of the price for proof. She changed the price down. It's not about the savings but the principle. One of the beverage dispensers were leaking so I wasn't able to use it. Went in to return it today and because the original cashier didn't ring up the correct item the first time they were not able to find the purchase on my Alaska card so were only able to refund me $7.77. I've never had such a poor experience at target in my life. I'd rather shop on target.com than set foot in the stores. Also I did happen to find my receipt right after but do not feel like going back and wasting more time. read more

So I love shopping, I mean seriously I am a shopoholic! However, my experience at Target last night left me frustrated to the point of hating it and thinking of it as a chore! I go in for a gift registry for a baby shower, the list prints and immediately I think "good, there are still plenty of items that the registry says they have "in stock" (you can tell this immediately because if they don't have it it says "N/A" under the item where the price would be.) So I grab a cart and head over to the baby section. After walking around for about 30 minutes, not able to find a single item that's SUPPOSED to be there I'm now at the point where I'm about to just throw the registry on the ground and walk out defeated. Keep in mind during this 30 minutes, there are 2 employees working in a nearby section, observing the whole thing and offering NO assistance what so ever. I decide to make one more pass around and spot another employee who just seems nice (you can always tell). I ask her for assistance and she then spends what amounts to another 15 minutes attempting to help me find items they are supposed to have...her conclusion? The only thing she found was a $6 hat and sock set. Sorry I'm not cheap, and just buying a $6 hat set screams cheap. I decide to wing it and just grab a bunch of cute baby stuff then head off to the basket area (I'm a queen when it comes to gift baskets) I find a cute white plastic carton that could work to store diapers then make my way over to cards and gift wrap. To my utter dismay I find hardly any ribbons or bows...seriously why even sell gift wrap if your section is going to be this sad?!?! By the time I make my way to checkout I have been here shopping for a baby shower gift for well over an hour and I just feel defeated. At the register I mention to the cashier (as she is scanning the registry since on a clearance rack I was able to find one of the onesies on the list) that their gift wrap aisle was lacking and the cashier without saying a word nodded and gave a face like "yep it's pitiful isn't it" I then mentioned I would have to go to the dollar tree and she mouths "yeah they have a much better selection" and nods again. So now your employees have more faith in the dollar tree than the company they work for...that's just great. Oh and the cherry on top....remember the ONE item I found on the list and purchased? I checked the registry today....it does NOT show it has been purchased, and yes it is the exact one listed. Should be interesting to see what she ends up getting since target's registry is basically worthless. read more

This is one of the most horrific stories I have ever seen! It was extremely extremely messy! Words can't describe. There were more clothes on the floor and rolling warehouse racks then the actual display racks. The shoes covered the isles along with boxes. Nothing on the shelves! Once you enter, the value area is all over the floor no rhyme or reason. Potatoes for sell had rotting ones and reeked when you walked by. Unbelievable poor managment. How ironic as we seen the employees by the fitting room having some sort of meeting. Target, you failed at this Lakewood store. read more

The employee are always super helpful and usually go above and beyond... and most of the time the lines aren't that bad. They usually have what I am looking for in stock! I work at the theater right next to target. I go here almost every weekend. I always check out in the cafe' because lines are always long. Staff is super friendly and nice. Love seeing the friendly faces. They are quick and helpful. Store is very clean and easy to find everything. read more

Always super busy, never enough cashiers, and they can't seem to ever get their coupon policy correct. The coupon policy seems to change every time I go in there. I was extremely excited to come back to the US and shop at Target again after my husband and us were stationed in Germany, but this Target just ruined it for me. The only friendly people in that entire store are the Pharmacists. They are always helpful and super friendly when I ask questions about what OTC medicine I should get. read more
