As a person who lives and works Downtown, and doesn't drive this store is a blessing, without it this car free lifestyle wouldn't be as practical. It's currently the only large grocer Downtown, and you can get pretty much everything else you'll ever need here as well, at affordable prices. Unfortunately this store still falls short of the offerings of an actual grocery store so you'll still end up having to go elsewhere for some things. It's a 15 minute walk from the Eastside of Downtown where I live but I love walking Downtown anyway, certainly enjoy it more than being in a car. In non snowy weather it's easy to bike here too and that only takes 5 minutes from Downtown East. If you've got a heavy load you can always take a bus to and from Target as well, Public Transportation Downtown absolutely rocks. For a company that is mostly thought of as a bix box retailer this Target is extremely unique, and I know I've never seen another one with escalators for your carts. Love the area it is situated too, right on Nicollet Mall across from some incredibly charming large Historic Department Store Buildings. I really enjoy shopping here during the holidays, nothing beats Nicollet Mall's holiday displays and wintertime charm, and you can take in the sites indoors in the Downtown Skyways if you don't wanna go outside. read more

This was actually cool. I mean, in lots downtown locales its hard to find a simple store. A store to get drugs (I was sick). A store to get bags of candy (I was exhibiting at a conference and candy is an attention grabber). A store to remind you of home (yeah, I'm a country hick). But yeah, having a Target right downtown in Minneapolis was muy convenient. For my drug fix, I ended up going with some of the super cheap ibuprofen ($7 for Advil vs. $2 for generic...totally easy decision). I also went with some cheap nighttime cold medicine as well. And yeah, this Target is two-stories, and yes, they have a cool escalator for your cart! Now, if I went to my hotel or tiny drug store down town, all of this would have been hecka expensive. I'm grateful for this Downtown Target for a few reasons, but really turned off by Target corporation as a whole. (spending 5 years working for this company I have some personal experience with the negatives.) I would never go out of my way to shop here, but have found that shopping here for emergency wardrobe malfunction supplies, last minute, OMG I forgot the present items and lunch and office party supplies have really helped me in a bind. What I'm happy to avoid is the lay out of this store; who ever is in charge of schematics has a malfunctioning program! The best thing about the Target downtown is the shopping cart escalator. Oh yes, the shopping carts get their own special little shopping cart escalator to bring your goodies from the first to the second floor and back again. Seriously, its cool enough for tourists to stand in front of it gaping before they whip out their camera phones and digital cameras and send pictures back home. Its fancy. Second best thing? This is "the" Target. It is located in downtown right next to Target headquarters, which means it is the place for CEO and higher up walk through. Its the place where the design and advertising team check out product and come up with strategy. Its the place target brings vendors to show what a Target store is supposed to look like. The result? A store so bright and clean you could eat off the shelves, and every new product and line of clothing Target sells. Plus amazing amazing clearance racks. With 20 dollar purchase Target validates parking for one free hour on the weekday and two free hours on the weekend. That gives you time to shop and eat! Bottom Line: This store hits the bulls-eye. Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Minneapolis with it's own parking garage! I do appreciate that it's a Super Target for one stop shopping. They have a full grocery store. It's not a huge selection, but it has everything one needs (I'm no master chef, OK, but you can find fruits, veggies, and fresh meat here in addition to the frozen stuff...even if I'm only really interested in the frozen pizzas). They do tend to run out of stock occasionally on things like yogurt, but I may just be shopping at the wrong times. They also have a pharmacy and photo center, which is pretty great. I had to print some photos for a gift, and if you have pictures to print on your phone, you can use an app to send them directly to the kiosk, customize your print, and have it ready to pick up by the time you finish your shopping! I would highly recommend avoiding this place during lunch hour during the week as it is completely packed. The parking garage is also usually pretty full during this time of day. Judging by the abundance of suits, I'd say everyone who works at an office downtown takes their lunch break here. Other times it is perfectly manageable for shopping. Also, they do offer free parking for up to an hour during the week and 2 hours on the weekends if you make a $20 or greater purchase, which, I mean, it's Target. How can you not? read more

This was my first 2-story Target and I think I saw a glimpse of heaven. I am also one of the people called out in the reviews for having an interest in the cart escalator (sorry, we don't have those in our 1-story Targets back home!). I have never had a reason for complaint regarding this store. It has everything you expect, and even surpasses my expectations for a clothing selection. I have never waited more than 5 minutes in line, so I feel like I could run in here really quick if I was in a rush and be fine. I would note that there is a spending minimum to receive validated parking, but I'm confident you can find something you like in the store. read more

My husband & I live downtown, so this is the Target that we frequent. Heck, we can walk there.... it's right by Target Headquarters, and we are clearly in the mecca of all that is Target. Impressed? Yeah, I didn't think so. ANYWAY, I like Target. I'm not ashamed to admit it, (though maybe I should be??). I like looking at the clothes (though, admittedly, a bunch of dudes carousing the 35%, 50%, 75% markdown WOMEN'S racks was a bit alarming last week. I couldn't handle it and had to go look at the shoes instead (did try some cute flats out of that "deal").... because THEY looked at ME like I didn't belong there.... with the women's clothes. Who knew? This is one of those Targets that has SOME groceries, which is very much needed in downtown, because we don't have anywhere to buy groceries otherwise. It could and would be better if they had some produce, if it were a "Super Target". But hey, I can buy some necessities here, and that's pretty good. Plus, we drive to Cub or Rainbow foods, and their prices aren't usually as good as Targets... on a lot of items. Plus, they have sales on candy (2 for $4 bags on m&ms is probably not the best thing for me, but gosh darn it, they have sales like this just about every other week it seems). I think I died and gone to Target heaven. Two floors and a cart escalator? What else can I ask for? From this point forward, no other Target will ever compare to this one. Located right in downtown Minneapolis (right next door to Target Corp. offices), this Target is what dreams are made of. I only ran in for a few snack but I definitely had fun perusing the clothing section on the second floor...and even walked away with some cute tops. Here, they offer your typical Target findings, but with what seems like a more expansive selection (compared to my shitty Target at home). They also offer small grocery area which was perfect if I wanted to grab some fresh fruit during my stay in town. Check out staff were also nice and friendly. Oh yes, I'm definitely a fan of Target, and especially this one. Not sure when I'll return to MPS, but if I do, I will definitely will be visiting here again. I feel like this Target is especially hilarious to me...I can't really explain it, but if you ever come here like once a week, as I did when I lived downtown, you probably would understand. There is always tons of people here, especially during the work week lunch hour... mostly corporate-life women. They all have chips on their shoulder.. god forbid if you ever end up in the same aisle as them... watch out! I had some friends who used to work here, one as a check out lady, and one in returns. How they did it, I'll never know, they used to tell me some of the most horrendous stories about the people coming in off the street sand trying to return things that were stolen, and stories of old bitchy women who try to talk down prices with them... Come on, we are dealing with a corporation.. good luck naming your own prices! Overall, I am a fan of target, its a convenient place to get all your basic necessities and what not, but downtown, it is a completely different store. This is my favorite Tar-zhay to go to. If ever there is a new designer debuting his/her collection for the masses, come here (as soon as the store opens) to purchase all of it! So far, my most favorite collection for Target has been Rodarte. Btw, anyone know what's going on with Liberty of London? Is the collection a new Target staple or just an all-encompassing collection for a few weeks/months? This location is also awesome because of the multi-level layout. Suburbanites are always amazed by the cart escalator. Their little eyes get as big as saucers when they push their cart into the gate. It's true, folks, there is an official Sexiest Target. It's the Target that dares you to be a fat/old person and carries more stock in women's shoes than in the pharmacy. It's the Target containing primarily express registers for the 87% of customers purchasing only Diet Mountain Dew and condoms. I think this is the flagship Target store in downtown Minneapolis! It's located fairly close to the Target Center, and Target Field, so there's a lot of Target around downtown Minneapolis! This is a gem of a store, not set up like your normal Targets, it's got levels, and more stuff packed in! Like other Super Target's it's got pretty much all the essentials from Food, to beer, to Cds, to Movies, to toothpaste, to dog food.. Not in that order but you know those might be essentials to some people! The staff is really nice, probably due to the corporate heads are right around the corner buying there Food, beer, Cds, Movies, toothpaste, and dog food so you best be on your toes.. read more

Each time I enter Target I *try* to keep to my list. I really really try! The problem (although, it's not really a problem at all) is, Target has everything. Everything. So even if I enter knowing exactly what I need, I always realize when I'm there that I "need" a lot of other things, too. I've resorted to writing "miscellany" at the bottom of my list, so that I can actually stick to it. The downtown location is always busy, but never to the point that I feel uncomfortable. The cart escalator never ceases to amuse me, either. It's easily accessible by numerous bus routes, which is always a big plus. read more

However, this particular location has the WORST team members ever. Rude, unprofessional, unkempt (they smell), never a thank you or excuse me. Target, you stupid soulless corporate bastards. I bought Christmas presents online. The big ticket item, a Keurig, was supposed to come with an e-gift card. Days went by. I reached out to social media, and they quickly pushed my order though, even sending an additional e-gift card for my trouble. IT WASN'T A FREEBIE FOR MY TROUBLE. THEY CHARGED ME 20 DOLLARS THAT I DIDN'T ASKED TO BE CHARGED FOR. The presents arrived. The stuff I bought on clearance were fine. The Keurig however, was a cheaper model than what I paid for. It retails for about 20 dollars less and I was not fooled. The box arrived damaged as well. Target does not do exchanges for online orders, only refunds. In order to repurchase my item, I would not have gotten the sale price, nor would it have arrived by Christmas. I called about an exchange only to have an operator tell me to call back during business hours. I was literally speaking to a human being, but I had to call back during business hours? Two tries later I reached someone who was willing to do an exchange and send me the item I paid for, only to have the operator tell me it was all sold out. ALL SOLD OUT. I can't wrap all sold out. Here Honey, I got you the all sold out you wanted. How about you don't oversell? I am still waiting on confirmation for my refund for the Keurig, and now a refund of twenty dollars on top of that. Target stole Christmas, stole 119 dollars, stole my time. EDIT: The result of my return thus far? The "FREE RETURN SHIPPING" has somehow also cost me about 10 bucks. By and large a good store; I'm only giving them 3 stars at this time because they have not been forthcoming with regard to the status of their Wine and Spirits department. Back in early 2020 they said they were closing it temporarily and that it would be reopened in a few months. Now here it is, late 2021... that department is still closed and they're still giving the public the same "temporary closure" spin. The reopening is beginning to sound more like a lie every day. Living 8 blocks away from a Target has its benefits and its drawbacks. One, there's no desire to drive there; two, there's no way to buy a ton of stuff if you can't haul it back on foot. Thus, downtown Target is my emergency top-it-off for virtually everything I usually buy elsewhere. It's comparable to other non-Super Target stores, which is to say it has a lot that I want and is missing a lot that I want. Somehow it seems to stay better organized and more tidy than most other Target stores. I'm sure being right down the mall from corporate is a factor, but considering the rabble that often passes through, it's still impressive. The staff seems more hands-off than other Targets, but I prefer that anyway. Now if only I could learn to stop going in after happy hour. It's bad enough when you over-shop and have to walk 8 blocks with too much stuff, but it's even worse when you have to do it drunk. read more

Living and working Downtown, this is my go-to Target...to the point where I go to Target at least three times a week. I love the two story design. The cart-scalator is awesome, even if it seems to prove tricky to some patrons. The fast pace of the store is nice, as I'm often breezing through on my lunch break, or picking up a quick grocery item on my way home from work. My only complaint is that they don't always carry everything that I need/want. The area I have run into the most trouble is with groceries. If you get there first thing in the morning, they aren't always stocked and ready for the day. If you get there during lunch, it's such a zoo that it's hard to get your hands on what you want. If you get there after lunch, shelves are bare from the lunch zoo. They will often have different offerings than their NE/Roseville stores, too. This is understandable as a smart business decision - catering to their market - but it's frustrating for people who live Downtown. I think more businesses need to keep the DT residents in mind when setting their inventory/hours. Other than that, it's a great store. Friendly and helpful employees are abundant in the aisles, the pharmacy department runs smoothly, and they always have enough check out lanes open to get people back on Nicollet Mall and off to their final destinations. One thing leads to another and next thing you know you've spent more than intended. Such is the way and pull off target. I'm this locations regular shopper since it's right by the st Thomas campus. This location also has more new trends and business office attire being downtown. You'll see a bunch of target employees and analysts here since corporate is right around the corner. Overall I like this one because it's cleaner and well stocked compared to others. Only downside is the higher taxes since you're in downtown. read more

This Target is well planned as it's easy to navigate the two floors of merchandise. With a street and skyway entrance there is a lot of hustle in the commons area. I have seen security shaking down those that "forgot" to pay for an item twice in this area. There are also guards standing watch if for no other reason than to give a sense of security. Even during the weekday there are ample check out lanes and of course the popular automated self-checkout which seem to be popular here. The urban Targets are placed in large cities around the country and I really like the format better than the typical flat footprint suburban stores. read more

I live and work downtown, so this is my default stop for groceries. It gets points for being the only grocery option downtown. It loses points for having nothing fresh, particularly produce. I dislike having to buy vegetables like spinach and scallions and squash of unknown provenance wastefully wrapped in plastic. At the same time, I'm not going to find them anywhere else downtown, and I don't always have the time or energy to venture down to Truong Thanh on Eat Street for real veggies. Staff have usually been friendly with me. I don't blame the store for the usual crowd of able-bodied panhandlers out front. read more

This place it pretty large. It is two stories. They have elevators and escalators between the floors. It seems to be pretty large. A bit larger than a typical target in California. It is definitely not a sight that I am used to. They also have a starbucks and another food place located near or inside the target. Very clean, well-kept store. Two floors, so they always have great assortments of products and merchandise. Lots of nice sales and extensive clearance sections. I always seem to find things on my list in the clearance endcaps. Best of all, combine my RedCard debit card with their Cartwheel app and I end up saving 10-20% on my purchases every trip. read more

Shopping at this location is kind of like shopping at Trader Joe's on a Saturday--you should always know what you want before you go, because, browsing is not an really an option. Like other reviewers, I've found that this particular Target inflates its prices. I am so angry to find out that Target has closed my account after 22 years. They sent me a letter telling me I had 60 days to use my card. I finally went into Target, during the pandemic, and tried to use my card, at about the 30 day mark, only to find out they had already closed my account. Calls to their "customer service" were of no help. They informed me they could not reactivate my account of 22 years, but was free to apply again. This affects my credit score and is LOUSY customer service. I have limited shopping during this pandemic, and you would think they would have been a little more lenient. I am so angry I cannot see straight. I will never, ever, purchase anything from Target again. read more

This is supposed to be the address for Target World HQ in Minneapolis, so here goes. Sunday, 1PM: Target in Colma, CA- I pick up a gift card for a friend's baby shower gift... throw it in my bag, figure I'll send it later that day. Sunday, 4PM: Everyone else is napping, I figure I'll write the card now..... digging through my diaper bag with its many many pockets, nooks, and crannies.... where is the gift card? It cannot be found! big d'oh! For a few moments there, I'm thinking I'm SOL and out the $$ I spent on a gift card (stupid me!) ---- but I give a call to the target anyway, to see what I can do..... They tell me that as long as I have the original receipt, I can call another 1 800 number.... After making a 5 minute phone call, I'm assured that (after I fax a copy of the original receipt,) they will mail me a replacement! HURRAY! That was last Sunday. My replacement arrived less than 8 days after I faxed over the copy. Lesson learned: When buying a gift card,guard it with your life! : ) Or at the very least, put it in a very safe place! (I have no idea where it went!!) Of course, I love Target in all its forms and the fact that there is one in Colma, and another in Daly City- literally a THREE MINUTE drive from each other, is just one of those funny and fabulous things in life. It was refused. 12/28/12 - I call Target cust svc who told me that 10 days after they receive it back they will credit our debit card. 01/06/13 - Expected return arrival date. 01/16/13 - Possible refund date. No apologies for damaged merchandise. The problem is that our $250 will be in Target's hands for 30 days with nothing to show for it. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, the rep said he was "just following orders" and there's nothing else he can do. Once they see the package is back to UPS via the tracking#, they should provide a full refund...with an apology. I told the rep that I would yelp, tweet, reconsider doing business with Target in the future, and otherwise let people know about this. He said that was fine with him. read more

Oh I know Big Brother is watching me, I know they are frothing at the mouth to make sure that I am attracted to the sales bins, the food aisles, to the numerous other places that contain all of the shit that one would need only to amuse themselves and not live. But unfortunately for Target, I go in to get what I need at that moment in time, and that's pretty much it. I am not bothered by the behemoth Target, I'm not bothered by the corporate employees, I'm not bothered by the creepy people. What gets me about this store is the fact that it's uber convenient for me since I am definitely not driving down to the Lake Street target, and to be honest, the Target in St. Louis Park is full of snobby people that stare at me anyways. It's within walking distance of home for me, carries everything (and in some cases more) that all other Targets do, and the people that work here have always been super friendly! Now I can understand that some people don't really like this place... that's a matter of opinion. I guess it's just one of those places, like many stores downtown, that is going to be filled with the young business professionals and an interesting mix of homeless people. If you don't like it, there's always another store somewhere else you can go to. Otherwise, grit your teeth and bear it. Target is a really great store! And let's be honest... how many of us can get out of a Target on a regular basis without spending at LEAST $100?? I sure can't! read more
