Dr. Belo is amazing! Even though she reviews your chart, she somehow remembers details from previous visits and conversations we had a year ago. It really makes you feel like more than just another patient. The gentleman who does the eye testing (I unfortunately didn't catch his name) is always professional and makes the process quick and easy. Stephanie has been there since my first visit about 2-3 years ago, and she's consistently helpful and welcoming every time I come in. The whole team is friendly and makes the office feel comfortable even though they stay pretty busy. Disgusting and disgraceful business practices. Claim to accept my insurance than once exam is over, they tell you it's cheaper to pay out of pocket, and want almost $500 out of pocket. How are you claiming to accept insurance then not until after everything is finished say it's cheaper to pay out of pocket $500? My vision insurance has a co pay of $10 and that's all I've ever paid out of pocket each time. Target optical will bait and switch you, be aware! Despicable behavior! I am extremely disappointed. I only have 1 day off every other Sunday as I am a single working mom that works 10-12hr veterinary shifts. I have to bring my 9 year old son with me as I have no child care so sometimes it's difficult to get him to get in the car. We arrived at Target at 2:07 for our 2pm appointment and by the time we were helped (they busy with customers) it was 2:11 and we were refused service for my annual eye exam. I see back to back appointments with walkin emergencies in my profession AND am a single mom. Two weeks ago I made my daughter an appointment here. I have been going here for years and never had an issue. My daughters appointment was for today at 4pm. I called them around 12pm to see if she could get seen early and they said no that they was booked. I told them fine I will see them at 4pm. I showed up at 3:56pm to be told that my daughters appointment was canceled due to them not being able to get in contact with me. I told them I called them earlier and they denied even speaking to me. I have a medical condition which makes it difficult to drive. After finding a ride to get her to this appointment they canceled and had no sympathy what-so-ever to correct it. I should of been told about the cancelation when I called the first time. Me nor my family of 6 will be returning to this place EVER. read more

After going years without an eye exam, I finally relented two years ago and made an appointment at Target with Dr. Avak. The reception staff is very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. They certainly give a great impression of what to expect from Dr. Avak himself. Dr. Avak has a wide array of state of the art equipment that he expertly knows inside and out. His knowledge in the field is without question the most up to date you will ever find in a medical professional. He explains everything in detail and in terms I can understand. All this and a wonderful personality! Usually easy to schedule an appointment, the staff are usually pleasant and efficient. Anjelica and Eduardo are always helpful and personable. They are ever mindful of your time. They are both very knowledgeable, do a great job on adjustments with your frames. Always a pleasure. My only regret is the Target policy/practice that you don't have the option to select a frame "design" on display and then have them build it with the "correct sized" frame at the lab - what you see and select is what you get. Sometimes I find frames I love, but they are too big in the size you have to pick from in the display. read more

Finally an optometrist that takes UC insurance that doesn't require a month wait to make an appointment. I live in Merced and it's worth it to drive a little longer to come here so that I can get an appointment right away. Dr. Ibanez is a great optometrist and the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable (I was helped by Jaime). So they ordered another pair, and they were completely wrong. i also complained that they were making me dizzy. the "dr" wouldnt even recheck me, he just ordered stronger lenses. they ordered new glasses, i tried them for a week, and now they wont refund my money. im out $220, and all the time off i took for the 6 trips. I like coming here for my glasses. The women who work in the optical department are very friendly and engaging. The selection is decent and I've been able to find frames I was happy with each time. They also helped me pick out a frame they thought would look good on me and everyone who has seen my new glasses say they look fantastic. Totally awesome! Broke my glasses last night (nylon string holding lens) and called Target Optical to see if they could fix for me (btw I didn't purchase my glasses at Target); they were very friendly on the phone and said sure, come in and we will fix them if we can. They immediately fixed them when I showed up; the lady remembered I called and came right out and in a very friendly manner asked if I was the one who called. She fixed my glasses while I did a little shopping and I was out of there in 10 minutes. They didn't even charge me. Great Job!!! read more

Dr. Avak is a warm and efficient professional; he greeted us and took time to speak with, and listen to, us. I was there for my 10 year old's eye exam. I was very comfortable with the way Dr.Avak interacted with my daughter. He took the necessary time to measure here optical needs, and invited us to ask questions and discuss concerns. If a 0 star rating was an option I would definitely give it to Target Optical! Since our insurance turned to poop overnight (thanks ACA) we could not go to our regular optometrist. I went to Target to see if they accepted our insurance. The clerk who helped us told he they were not on our list of providers but that they submit to this company all the time and patients get fully reimbursed. I was pretty skeptical and wasn't going to buy $300 glasses on a maybe but I decided to have my daughter's eyes examined since we would only be out $49 if we were not reimbursed. First there is a huge difference between the equipment used here and that used at an optometrist's office but you get what you pay for. After the exam the sales woman tried to again give us a guarantee that we would be reimbursed for my daughter's glasses. I didn't bite and left to find a place covered by our insurance to order her frames and lenses. Glad we didn't go for it as the exam that she promised would be covered was rejected by our insurance. Another issue, my daughter's prescription is totally wrong. She went from a very strong prescription the year before to an incredible weak prescription leaving her continuing to squint in class. Now we will either have to wait another year for new glasses or pay out of pocket. From start to finish Target Optical is an inferior choice. read more

Upon my first phone call the woman who was helping me was great! really patient (as I had to get some information together while on the phone with her) and accommodated our last minute appointment scheduling. An important thing for me was that my dad could come here and have a very simple and routine eye exam then get the appropriate eye wear for him when he goes to work (in construction.) They made the process very simple and got him eye wear that he loves (though he won't say it, the looks in the mirror are enough). read more

I've had an appointment booked for months. I got an email saying I needed to confirm it or it would be lost. Well when you click both the "confirm" or "reschedule" buttons, it just takes you to the reschedule page. I tried calling several times but it just rings forever until it eventually hangs up on you. In the email, it says if you don't confirm it then they could cancel it. As I have a newborn, it took me a couple days to physically go to the store to make sure it wasn't cancelled. Well when I got there, the associate said something like they had scheduled that appointment for me but it wasn't an actual appointment or date/time held for me and I needed to schedule and confirm a new one. What she said didn't even make sense. I showed her my email saying I had a held appointment and needed to confirm it and she just said I never had the appointment to begin with? Like what? I have no idea. I'll be going elsewhere from now on. read more

And she told me they will replace nose pads, and make minor adjustments for FREE even if you didn't buy your glasses at Target. That is awesome service. read more

The Ophthalmologist guy with a thick accent, IMPO is a scammer. He misdiagnoses you and refers you to his specialist friend ( he gets kick backs), he verbally insults you and lay hands upon you in an inappropriate way as he escorts you into his room, where the touching continues, he actually placed his hand upon my knee.This guy is a creep and is probably becoming unhinged, seriously I think he may be having a mental health problem, target needs to remove him he could be dangerous. We had a problem with an error Target made in billing, this guy went into meltdown mode thinking it was our mistake, even though the target employee is standing next to him saying "it was my error", this guy descended into a dark place and called us cheaters, scammers and freeloaders. He refused to look at the receipt and our break down of costs. Lots of weird things going on, example Target has no control over him, he essentially rents space from Target, so your frames and lenses come under target. Your eye exam comes under the independent Ophthalmologist. We have written to Target corporate as if this guy flips out, which we saw him do, he could really be dangerous. They are OK . I had to go here because of insurance. The doctor that gave my daughter the eye exam made her come back to get a second opinion. The second doctor said the same thing as the first. I lived 16 miles away so I wasn't that happy I had to drive back the next day to hear the same thing. They also told me I would have to pick up the glasses but then they where shipped to my house. I don't know I felt they didn't really know what was going on and also really didn't care. read more
