Two front desk employees acknowledged that they received my vision insurance card. Rather than tell me before I arrived or even after I arrived, I was told after waiting to be seen by the Dr that they didn't take my insurance. I could have been notified before I took an hour off work and driving time that my insurance wasn't accepted. I asked why my paperwork wasn't reviewed when received and was told that they do review it. I don't have any time off to waste like this and finally got upset enough to write this review. They should have reviewed my paperwork before I arrived so I could cancel the appointment. It did seem, based on statements made, that I could pay 100% out of pocket. Why in the world would I do this if I have good vision insurance? Just be honest and let me know as soon as possible that they don't take my insurance.

She is great with explaining things (if you are the kind of patient who wants to know the details !). And she took the time to understand the needs of my "middle-aged" eyes with a complicated prescription. I started with a pair of computer glasses, and intend to go back for a pair of driving glasses. From Susanna, who fitted my new glasses, to the young lady behind the reception desk, all were professional, welcoming, and helpful.

When I called to let them know we were running a little late. They said that it was "too late" and the doctor needed to take their break. They also informed me that my entire appointment was taken "off of the books" days ago because I didn't "confirm" with earlier texts. If I was taken off the"off the books" why would I get that text message an hour before my original appointment telling me it was moved up 10 minutes?! The one star is kind considering there was no service at all to rate and the phone conversations were unprofessional, defensive and frankly rude. The good news is...the doctor did get their break and THAT is apparently what matters most.

The general manager however (along with other staff members) didn't offer honest or healthy engagement. The girl who was to assist me in getting glasses did not know what she was doing. She couldn't offer a real price on a 90.00 pair of glasses with what I would need. She said they would be like 800.00. She wouldn't tell me her name and talked defensively and in circles. It was wild and weird. I called to get information on my rx. The general manager (name starts with a "C") refused to provide it because I wasn't purchasing glasses from them. In fairness, there is at least one guy who does well with people. I found the rest of the "team" unprofessional, unpleasant, and completely disengaged from the process. I don't understand why any of them are in any aspect of healthcare given that they don't actually care.

The appointment process and check in was timely and easy. I felt from my first interaction with Dr. Stanchel, she was cold and off putting. It could have been a bad day for her but she never warmed up and made me feel cared for. I knew I would not return when she was untruthful with me. When she provided me with an updated prescription for my glasses and I asked her for my pupillary distance measurement because I order lots of glasses online and that is required. She told me she couldn't give it to me?? I was unsure why as it is needed to order any pair of glasses. It felt like the problem was I wasn't ordering her IMO over priced frames so instead of saying that, she said she didn't have it. Well how about get it? I have had multiple providers give me that information whether I was ordering glasses from them or not. If I had been ordering glasses with her that day how would that have happened without my PD and where would she get it from? I cannot support dishonesty.

From the get go, I was immediately greeted upon walking in, no more than a 5 min wait to sign paperwork, & then we immediately got started. Being a novice, I was questioning everything and Dr. Stanchel had all the patience. The facility is clean and all the equipment seemed top-notch. The exam was thorough...a lot more so than I anticipated but I appreciated it. Nice frames to choose from and about a week for the glasses to come in. More expensive than I anticipated but I didn't have a good reference to work from. Even still, based off the experience, I'll be back. In fact, my husband needs an exam so we'll get around to that eventually w/ Dr. Stanchel. Only thing that would be nice is if we have the option to choose an appt online for the eye glass pickup.

I have a daughter who has Strabismus (condition where your eyes cross without proper eyewear), so finding eyewear that allows her to feel confident and beautiful is always a challenge I dread every year. The lady who has taken care of us for years, moved away, so we had to find a new spot. We went to My Eye Dr in Columbia where we encountered a very friendly front desk. She then had Dr. Cathell who was just really sweet and made her feel at ease. Afterwards she met with Ms. Cyndie who helped her find the perfect eyewear that fit her style and level of teenage glam she wanted and was looking for. We will be going back.

I feel like they rush your eye measurements, and then pressure you into picking "the one that looks best" after you're clearly struggling to see either options. Just trying to get to the next patient. Then when I had to do a reexamination after my new power was just awful, they wanted to charge me for trying to see another doctor instead of the same one. I explained why I would rather have someone else, but it "would not count as a reexamination." So I went with him.. they called me several times trying to "remind" me to come in early. I figured I was the last patient and they probably wanted me to get there early so they could wrap things up.. which already made me feel this would be rushed. Again. (They want you to come in 15 mins early, no matter what, but the the amount of "confirmation" calls I got, emphasizing it, was surprising). I arrived early and there I overheard the doctor checking to see if the last patient, me, arrived (this was 20 mins before my scheduled appointment). So my feelings were correct. Finally, the doctor saw me and when I explained he immediately became defensive, and basically blamed me for the wrong power. After I explained that my old (2 glasses ago) glasses are clearer than the power he gave, he left the room with my old glasses, came back and said "okay I have your new power." I asked what did he do, he said he's using my old glasses as the power because "if it works for you why bother change it?" No rechecking or retesting. Just giving up, giving me my old power and quickly rushing to leave. I'll just have to deal with it for now. But I will not be returning to MyEyeDr again, anywhere. I need to find a proper optometrist next time. If you need simple vision corrections, maybe this will work for you. But if you need someone who will spend time with you, to make sure you get as close to correct as possible, these guys are not the place to go to.
