Dr. Tran is one of the nicest and most able medical professional I have ever encountered. With an office located in the Arundle Mill Costco, each visit is a breeze from a logistical standpoint. Her assistant is wonderful as well and really makes setting up an appointment very easy. I am not sure if the office takes insurance for regular eye exams (standard glasses and/or contact lenses) but the price is reasonable at $100 for my son's contact lens exam. Dr. Tran uses some of the latest equipment to conduct the exam. It looks like some futuristic Jetson's type stuff but it is very effective. However, what sets her apart from other Optometrists is that she always pulls out the the tried and true tools of the profession to check everything out. We never feel rushed with her and she listens to all of our concerns. Just a wonderful experience ensuring my son's vision is correct. The staff is not very competent, and more importantly lazy. They failed to find the VSP coverage that was active, and when they couldn't they kicked the responsibility to the patient and make the patient do their jobs. Rx check, which is the responsibility of the OD, is pawned off to the tech who does not have the clinical scope to do anything about the errors in Rx. This is done to reduce doctor's chair time, and it does not serve the patients well. I don't even know if these techs are licensed. Knowing what I know, I questioned their practices. When I did, I was met with super passive-aggressiveness and they tried to charge me for the Rx check that was covered under the VSP. VSP can help to accommodate many varying situations (like a pandemic), but this office was not even willing to try. I have spent many hours talking to VSP. They have NO intentions of doing so for their patients. This office will take advantage of you if you don't know what your rights are. If you do, then they try to weed you out by making your life difficult. This is not how you advocate for patients, and not how you run a clinic. However, it maybe a shrewd business tactic. You as a consumer and a patient, have the option of what you choose to accept as a standard of care.

I asked why my paperwork wasn't reviewed when received and was told that they do review it. I don't have any time off to waste like this and finally got upset enough to write this review. They should have reviewed my paperwork before I arrived so I could cancel the appointment. It did seem, based on statements made, that I could pay 100% out of pocket. Why in the world would I do this if I have good vision insurance? Just be honest and let me know as soon as possible that they don't take my insurance.

My friend told me that she purchases her eyewear from Costco and it is very affordable. I decided to come take a look and to my surprise it is very cost-effective compared to the optometrist's office. I came on a Friday evening and surprisingly it was sparse. Baby Jane was very warm and personable. She was very patient and answered all my questions, which I had quite a handful. My optometrist prescribed me with occupational progressive lens. Baby Jane explained the type of lenses that Costco provides and gave me a breakdown of the pricing. I also needed a second pair of glasses for nighttime driving. She informed me that there was a promotion that if I purchased two pairs, I could get $50 off. She helped me find pairs that were suitable for my slender face. I learned that each pair of eyewear has the size on it. That was something new and will be helpful to know when I make purchases in the future. Despite the bad reviews that I read online, I was very pleased with the prompt and friendly service that I received today. I will definitely be making purchases here in the future assuming that I am happy with my new progressive glasses.

It is the same visonworks that i have used in the past 8 years or so. My appointment was set for 10:30 am. I received at least 2 text messages and 2 emails confirming and reminding me of the appointment. I arrived on time and was told that my appointment had been canceled because I could not be reached by phone to confirm my appointment. If they had an identifier associated with there number, i would have answered the phone. With all of the spam calls these days, if i don't have any idea who is cqlling, i do not answer. if they called they would have reached my voice mail and i would have returned the call. I was offered a 1230 appointment that I declined. I went to America's Best in Glen Burnie, where I received a same-day appointment and excellent customer service. On top of it all, I believe I saved about $200 on my order. Some things are just meant to be.
