I walked out wondering if I should update my passport photo, LinkedIn headshot, and possibly my entire personality to match how good these glasses make me look. Tammie and Rachel are that rare combination of enthusiastic, deeply knowledgeable, and wildly intuitive. They see possibilities you don't. Frames I would have dismissed in 0.4 seconds somehow became, "Wait... is this me? Is this my look? Have I been living wrong all these years?" Their eye (pun absolutely intended) for what works is remarkable. And here's the part that truly sets them apart: I brought in a broken pair of frames that I've kept for nearly a decade because I loved them so much. Most places would've politely nodded and sent me on my way. Not these two. They went above and beyond to repair them -- treating them not as "old frames," but as something meaningful. That level of care is rare. Eye-Q isn't just a place to buy glasses. It's a place where people genuinely care that you walk out seeing better -- and feeling better about how you look doing it. If you're on the fence about new glasses or sunglasses, stop thinking and go. Ask for Tammie and Rachel. Trust the process. Try the frames you think won't work. Prepare to be pleasantly wrong. Five stars isn't enough.

The level of service is top-notch and they truly make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Tammie's expertise is a standout feature. She has a remarkable talent for selecting frame shapes that perfectly suit your facial features, often suggesting styles you might never have considered on your own. The technical care is top-tier. I've purchased five different frames from Tammie over the years and I'm very particular on how my frames feel. Tammie always takes the extra time to detail each of my frames to the perfect fit. If you are looking for high-fashion brands paired with expert attention to detail, this is the place to go.

Upon walking in, the place is clean, well run, the staff is courteous and polite. Online appointments were easy to make. I thought the screening and the exam were good. I give the staff an A in that regard. Upon leaving the exam I needed a new pair of glasses. So I went to pick out 2 pairs of glasses. I was asked if I needed help, I didnt. I picked my frames out, and went over to pay the bill. The exam was free, the frames were actually buy one, get one half off. Where you pay the extra is the contact lenses and the lenses for the eyeglasses. I picked the cheapest lenses, and a 6 month supply of contacts. My total bill was about $375. I did add an extra $15 for a specific eye test. They did add a $100 to become a 3 yr member, I go when I have to so that was an unneeded expense. So take the $115 off the 375 and I was at $260 for the exam, 2 pairs of glasses, and a 6 month supply of contacts. That isn't too bad. The moral of the story. ..don't walk in thinking you are going to pay $69.99 for 2 pairs of glasses and walk out. I also would have liked a little better explanation of the bill before I paid it. I most likely would have not bought the 3 yr plan and I'm not even sure what I even get with it. Overall a positive experience.

Mayo Clinic has two Optical Shop locations in Rochester…read more One is in the main Mayo Building on the 7th floor. The second is this location on Stonehenge Drive. I go to both locations because the selection/stock aren't exactly the same in both locations. At the Mayo building location, you may need to pay for parking (depending on whatever thing is going on there). At the Stonehenge location, you do not have to pay for parking. I appreciate how their staff helped guide me to selecting frames that fit my face, and advised me on how some frames may be problematic on the bridge of my shape/type of nose. I appreciated how the optical staff kept adjusting the glasses to sit on my face properly when I picked up my new glasses. They keep taking it off and adjusting it until it sits just right on the nose and around the ears. I also really like the service and guarantees you get from purchasing glasses from Mayo. It is something I have not gotten from my eyeglass purchasing experience at two other popular optical shops in Rochester. (I have attached a photo of Mayo's glasses service/guarantees sheet that they hand out when you go to pick up your new glasses.) I have had issues like screws falling out (the way children handle their glasses!), or a frame being bent by accidental use (again, children), and Mayo optical staff will do the best they can to fix and adjust it before telling me what next steps I can take. They also easily take walk-ins (I think even if you didn't purchase your glasses from them?) for frame adjustments, for free. I feel comfortable asking for their help anytime when things come up or when I need additional adjustments after getting my new glasses.
