Paella

Had paella, cod, fish soup and Portuguese style steak. Paella was very nice, a large serving but was on the dry side.

Seafood stew for sharing
Gino B.

There are so many seafood restaurants to pick from in Albufeira, Algarve but somehow we landed at this restaurant which has been in business since 1895. It did not disappoint. The service is pleasant and friendly with a good mannerism to describe the menu items. For starters we tried some shrimp sautés in a garlic infused sauce along with some friend calamari rings. Both were delicious and set the stage for the main event: a seafood stew. The stew consisted of shrimps, mussels, monk fish, sea bass and dorado. All were cooked in a tomato based sauce with potatoes, tomatoes, onions and proprietary spices. It was all cooked to perfection and was like a ragu sauce with seafood. This paired very well with a bottle of white wine from the Algarve region. The wine is relatively rare as not too many cases are made per year. All in all we feel lucky to have enjoyed such a wonderful meal in such a beautiful setting and seaside town.

Fish Cataplana
Anna P.

Went there and had an awesome time, with delicious food. We shared a Fish Cataplana, which was just amazing! Unfortunately the Menue is a little confusing.....we all 4 read that the Cataplana is 16,50Euro for 2 people but it's actually 16,50 each. That was kind of a minus, but like I sad the food was really good. Oh and the service was great as well! :D

Octopus & shrimp cataplana

Ordered the octopus with shrimp cataplana. Overall, service was good and this particular dish was alright. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had as I find the water consistency (juices from the seafood) wasn't as thick. If the stew broth was thicker with more flavour then it'll be perfect. Maybe worth trying something else on the menu.

Sea Bass. Very delicious

Next to the beach. Service is good, though clams and mussels in cataplana are too small by size and not much to eat at all.

Shellfish Cataplana was really delicious and white wine of the house was crispy and fresh. Friendly stuff and good service.

Everything we ordered was delicious from the clams bulhao to the arroz marisco to the Algarve tart (best algarve tart we had on our trip). Even the homemade garlic bread was good. Seafood all tasted fresh, staff was pleasant, and the restaurant had a catchy playlist going too. Only downside was how long it took to deliver our main course after starter. We were seated at a table near the front door; perhaps sit at a table closer to the front for better attention.

We spent a month in the Algarve and ended up dining here at least 10 out of 30 nights. We kept trying to find another restaurant that could compare--and never did. The food is authentic Portuguese cuisine at its finest. The clams, made from the owner's grandmother's recipe, are hands-down the best I've ever had in my life. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you order--everything on the menu is exceptional. Be adventurous. You won't regret it. The restaurant is family-owned and family-run, which adds so much to the experience. Vitor runs the kitchen and delivers incredible food every single night. His wife Ines runs the front with grace and warmth. Luan and Joah were there every evening we visited, offering some of the best service we've ever experienced anywhere--professional, kind, and genuinely caring. The ambiance is casual, quiet, and cozy--it truly feels like home. Every guest is welcomed like family, and this incredible team goes above and beyond to make each night memorable. If you go (and you absolutely should), tell them the Fanellas from Florida sent you. Jardim Rústico is a gem, and dining there was one of the highlights of our trip.

I went with a large group of coworkers around 11 of us during this dinner. The staff were all very attentive. They have excellent Sangria. Too bad I couldn't drink more than a small cup as I have medicine that keeps me from drinking too much. Anyways, I reviewed the menu and they have many good choices. At this point in the week I was feeling a bit tired of seafood so I decided to order the Portuguese Steak. Also I had what is a must try appetizer the fried sardines. OMG fresh sardines are amazing. If I had these at home I would certainly eat many more sardines. The flavor was great, and the cracker breading very tasty. The steak was very tasty with a topping of ham and a good juice it was cooked in. I would guess more garlic and olive oil. Also they offer the usual olives and bread to eat before your meal but you need to request those and they are worth requesting. I finished my meal off with a piece of coconut cake. It was quite good as well and wasn't to sweet. It was pretty unique and hard to describe other than a cake with lots of coconut but not frosted. I loved it. The restaurant may offer the best views in this area of the ocean as well. It was getting surprisingly cold after the sun set but they offered guests blankets to stay warm. It was a great dinner and note it may be slightly hard to find so use google maps to get there if walking.
