Though the service isn't the best here, their food is really good. I really enjoyed the Monk Fish w/ Shrimp in Cataplana. The sauce is full of umami flavor and they are generous with the shrimp and fish. For appetizer, I wouldn't recommend the Prawn Cocktail. Instead the prawn cocktail that we commonly have in the US, their prawn cocktail is more like a shrimp salad with thousand island sauce. The "prawns" are very small and there's only a handful and the dish is soaked in a dressing that tastes similar to thousand island sauce.

They serve the Cataplana table-side.

We came to Reis on a recommendation from a local who told us this was the best place in Lagos to get fish stew (Cataplana with shrimp and monkfish), and we were not disappointed! It is served with potatoes, and a sauce made from tomatoes, bell peppers and herbs. So delicious! And it pairs well with the local green wines (called "green" because the wine is made from grapes that are still green - the wine itself is a light, crisp, low-alcohol white that sometimes has bubbles and sometimes not!). The staff was warm and welcoming. Overall, a great experience!

Amazing fresh seafood food by the ocean, what else can I ask for? We got the fresh sardines, clams,…read moresalmon, and sea bass. We loved everything including the dessert and coffee. The staff was extra nice and helped us money exchange situation.

Lota is good for groups and families, wielding picnic style benches, quick service, and affordable prices. But make sure to bring cash! We couldn't believe our eyes at some of the prices (pâté for only 0,6€?? squid for 11,50€??), but quickly learned that this was because the pâté came in a little peel-pack, and the sangria tasted like artificial strawberry juice. However, spend wisely and you will get full. The fish is mostly grilled, with minimal marination or fuss but it does taste pretty fresh. We were brought boiled potatoes and salad to accompany our meal which was a nice balance to the meal. Everything came out pretty quickly and it seemed like the vibe was to get diners in and out just as efficiently. No one was rude per se, but the staff very clearly were just waiting for their shift to be over so they could close up. Despite how convenient this eatery is, it probably wouldn't be on my places to return to when I'm back in Lagos.
