I saved their takeout menu from our takeout sometime last year in order to remember to write a review - NOT to order from them again! Spouse: "not impressed"; I was realllly disappointed/unhappy. You know what I miss the most these days? Indian buffets. Period. I miss the variety of all those delicious flavors. I miss them for lunch, I miss them for dinner, if I knew someplace that did an Indian buffet breakfast, I'd opt to miss that as well. Taste of India is the closest Indian restaurant to me, and they offer pick-up and delivery. I can't say that I was wowed by my dinner, but I was very much satisfied, and I'd definitely order again, but perhaps with some modifications to my order. The dinner for 2 is a great option, because it includes the naan, an appetizer and dessert in the deal, at a significantly cheaper price than ordering separately. They were very quick to process the order, too. I thought the meal was a little inconsistent, but not bad overall. My favorite part of it was the Chicken Tikka Masala. The sauce was the right color with the right amount of tomato base and taste, and the chicken was tender. The Lamb Saag was nicely spiced, but I was expecting it to be quite a bit greener, as in make the saag more prominent. Also, the larger chunks of lamb were still a bit chewy. The pakoras and samosas have a very heavy batter - if you eat too many of these, you will fill up before getting to your entrees. The garlic naan was actually the most aromatic part of the meal, but the naan was also a little more chewy than crispy. You get more than enough rice with your meal. The dessert was rice pudding, which had an unusually distinct lemon flavor, was less creamy than others I've had, and it was warm, though that could have been because it was mixed in with all the other hot items on its way to my house. Once I find the dishes on their menu that satisfy me the most, I can see getting meals from Taste of India a little more often. read more

Quite good! I think they're mostly takeout, so don't expect standard restaurant service, but the owner was very kind and they served some very satisfying fare. I had the Chicken Motor, which was similar to Tika Masala, but with the addition of peas. Yummy! My wife had the veggie Masada which was very tasty, though the carrots appeared to be factory cut. My son had fried shrimp in a mild curry. Also tasty. The samosas were excellent and served with two chutneys. One sweet, one spicy cilantro. The naan basket was FABULOUS. If I could give negative stars I would. I ordered from them, my items were missing. The first person who picked up didn't understand english and while I was talking hung up on me. I called a second time and spoke in hindi/urdu, and he gave the phone to an elderly man. He was rude, arrogant, and had the worst customer service skills. I told him some items are Missing, he stated " not my problem, that is your problem." Then he hung up on me. They are cheats and frauds. I would never order from here again. I love Indian food and hole-in-the-wall spots. I wish Americans ate more Indian food so it pains me to give a negative review, but this food was awful. The lamb in my Rogan Josh was basically undercooked gristle, sauce was a good color but tasted of nothing but an inordinate amount of salt. I think they had not washed the cilantro on the garlic naan as it left a gritty, sandy texture in my mouth. Samosa was OK, and generous portion of rice, though. I moved up north from the Bronx. I've always been a fan of Indian cuisine. I tried so many different spots and nothing ever comes close to the aloo jeera from home. I came across Taste of India last night and they didn't have what I wanted on the menu but they said they're still able to make the dish. I almost cried with how delicious this jeera aloo was. I can not even describe the wonderful flavors I was blessed with last night. The samosas are incredible and the naan bread is soft. This place just won a customer for life. So disappointed. Last meal here was great but takeout tonight was not good. Regret being a return customer due to the complete inconsistency of the food. Chicken tikka masala was suuuuper dry and chewy and boney and literally looked like it was died with orange food coloring. Vegetable korma was way too salty and had no other flavor. This place defines the term "family restaurant," it is run by a family of four that's dishing out delicious curries but still trying to figure out how to run a restaurant. I visited on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was not very busy, the sever seated me and then proceeded to apologize for almost everything moving forward, you could tell he was a little nervous about the restaurant. I ordered Vegetable Pakora and Lamb Vindaloo. The Pakora came out quickly but despite being listed as mixed vegetables, was really just some broccoli and mostly potatoes deep fried in chickpea flour. Most pakora I've had in the past will be more of a blend of vegetables as fritters, not just deep fried whole vegetables. I would probably skip getting these. The Lamb Vindaloo on the other hand was tangy and full of warm Indian spices. It came out quickly after the pakora and was not mouth-numbingly hot like some other vinadloos. The lamb was extremely tender which was a great change from most Indian restaurants where the meat will be overcooked quickly. At the end of the meal, I tried to pay but the credit card machine was not working. Definitely bring cash and maybe wait a week or so to let the family refine a few things. read more

I rarely waste time leaving negative restaurant reviews... I just never go back. However, we food I just received from them was close to inedible. They forgot the naan in my order. The tikka masala was watery and more liquid than chicken. The Tandoori Chicken was charred and I couldn't identify what part of "chicken" they came from. Ordered at 2:45, was told it'd come by 4:15, didn't get to me until 5:45. I had hope since the bag was hot. Wow, was I wrong. Got Naan, Rice, Coconut Soup, and Chicken Dildar Curry. Naan- Fine; nothing to write home about. Rice- Very dry, almost to the point of undercooked. Coconut Soup- Closer to Coconut Water, next to no flavor, none of the cinnamon listed in the description. Saw some bad reviews and read them. I am sorry for the bad experiences you had. I've never been to the restaurant...only delivery. All menu items arrived hot and totally delicious. There were a few times that the orders were quite delayed due to the fact that staff didn't get the order (not sure why). It is alright with me since I ordered so many times from this place. There are numerous menu items so you won't get bored easily. When I bit into the curry, I got a really nice exotic sensation of spices. My neighbor tried the food and he said it tasted like what he ate when he was much younger: "This is how I remember it!" It is a nice change from the majority of foods available in this area. We tried this restaurant because, for some reason, it's suddenly impossible to find masala dosa anywhere, and this place has it. I like to give places a chance. I've also eaten Indian food my whole life and never had horrible Indian food, no matter how whole-in-the-wall a place is. This place is a hole-in-the-wall, and not in the prettiest of neighborhoods, but some of the best food comes from such places. Not from this one, though. Sadly, the masala dosa (a supposedly paper-thin rolled crispy lentil pancake filled with curried potatoes was the furthest away from that dish that one could imagine. The pancake was thick, doughy, and greasy; the filling mushy, bland and sparse. The other food we ordered was bizarre, bland, and swimming in grease. I'm never seen anything like it. I don't understand-- how hard is it to cook authentic recipes. If a restaurant has bad reviews, why not hire an experienced chef to teach them how to make these dishes? So !!! This place has DEFINITELY re-opened , same name same street , I believe the location is new like down the block from the original but not 100 percent on that . What I am sure of is the fact that this place should have stayed closed . Went there today , a Saturday, around lunch time , not a soul in the place . I'm not sure why there are so many negative comments. I have been coming here for 6 months, they keep changing their restaurant name but food has always remained the same. Delicious! Chicken Tikka Masala is very good, their vegetable samosas are awesome, they added a citrus element to the filling which is very satisfying! The Garlic Naan is a hit or miss, sometimes they cook it too thick but for the price it is very good! I do take out but the inside of the restaurant has lots of space for dine-in customers and the owners/employees are extremely friendly and polite! I recommend this Indian restaurant! I've been to this restaurant many times, but not lately. We ordered a pickup dinner with Spicey Lamb Vindaloo for me, and a nice vegetarian dish with a cream sauce. The vegetarian dish was very good, very flavorful with fresh ingredients. The vindaloo was pretty spicey, not over the top the way I like it. However, it was filled with little sticks which were probably part of the spice mix. Fresh, but not really wanted! My big problem was the unfriendliness of the place and even more importantly, the lack of face masks by the staff. Hey, I'm 66 and have cancer, what are these people thinking? Are they thinking at all? What should I have to do, get in an argument with the owner/manager ? I chose to do my business and get out quickly. We won't be back. read more

Went there a few years ago with family pre-covid, and really wanted it to work out, as good Indian food is sparse around here. Our entire party got sick that evening into the day after. Didn't write a review then, cuz I figured maybe it was a one-off. Finally tried it once more a few days ago, and this time, just picked up 2 of their rice pudding desserts for my wife's birthday, and it tasted spoiled/rice was hard. we called them at 815pm (they close at 9pm on Sundays), and it rang, then went to fax tone. did it again two more times after that, all before 9pm, and the same thing happened. Called the next day to let them know, and the old man on the phone said he wasn't the person who sold it, and to call back tomorrow when the younger man would be working then. Hesitantly, I agreed. Was too busy to call that evening, so I called back the day after, reaching that same old man, who said we called back too late late, and would only give us 1 rice pudding, even though I explicitly told him we called the night it happened, and he accused me of lying about calling back then. Ordered the lamb biryani & chicken tikka masala to go. The first thing I noticed is that their prices are pretty reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants. Good, right? The quantity of the food given is also decent. BUT..my lamb biryani barely had any lamb, and the chicken tikka masala had like 5 pieces of chicken. Pretty disappointing. WOW. I have NEVER been so disrespected by a restaurant. So I placed an order for pickup. Arrived 15 mins or so after it was supposed to be ready. They said it was going to be another 10-15 mins (but that's not the bad part). 25 mins later I walk out with the food. I get home, and I realize everything is wrong (I ordered vegetarian, it all has meat, it is hard to tell something like that just looking at the containers because it looked right at a glance). I call and tell them, the guy gets mad at ME and tells me he gave me someone else's food (duh) and that what I took was more expensive that what I ordered (like I care lol) I'm already home now, it's dark out and pouring rain now, so I'm not going back. He expects me to go back and give him back the wrong order!!! So I didn't get my food, he was rude to me and refused a refund, and suggested I owe HIM something. UNBELIEVEABLE!!!
