Super friendly service at this community favorite. The prices have increased a little over the last several years but still relatively cheaper than other fast food establishments. The Freeze which use to be Tasty Freeze is not so tasty anymore!! To include the prices that are on the receipt differs from the actual charge. It almost seems as they are trying to charge a little more instead of just having their system fixed to reflect the normal cost of whatever the charge is. Don't make this difficult people. Fix your system!!! I ordered a small fry, small drink, and small shake. Well, I was charged .31 for a small and .80 for small shake. Per owner the system charges this for small unless you specify you want kiddie size! What !! The menu doesn't even say that! Ordered a burger with a side of fries, pretty good. The staff god the food out fast which was very convenient. There is parking out front and accessible restrooms. The tables and inside could be a bit cleaner. If you aren't feeling like indoor dining, there is a drive thru. I for sure need to check out the ice cream in the future as I hear great things. read more

This place has been open since my friend was a child. It used to be the high school hangout and was filled with video arcade games The menu has a lot more than the website. We frequent Tastee Freez due to it's location & convenience. The ice cream is good, they have plenty of options to choose from. They have good burgers & their fries are always nice & salty. My only issue is that we have up-sized the combos to larges almost every time we've ordered & we never get large fries, despite paying for them. So I'm not too happy about that, but otherwise, we have no complaints. It does take a long time at the drive-thru because it's usually packed. read more

We have been coming to this establishment over 30 years and Bill's workers can not get a simple order right. When you say 20 tasty burgers with cheese and 2 TASTY burgers PLAIN MEAT AND BREAD how hard is it to get that right? Then when you go in to have the order corrected the so called Manager and another co worker is pulling the cheese off and throwing it across the kitchen into a garbage can when I told them do not pull off the cheese to make the correct order. He then got belligerent threw food back at me saying there was 2 plain burgers and there is not told me to leave his establishment because I loudly corrected him and the co worker. I've got video of the fact they did not get the order right. The person that eats two PLAIN BURGER MEAT & BREAD IS ALLERGIC TO DAIRY Bill I will be in to talk with you about this. Tastee Freez is a small restaurant located beside Summerville high school. There isn't too much I can say about this place, but I'll try to elaborate The set up reminds me a lot of Dairy Queen, and the food reminds me a lot of sonic. As my mother said, it's gas station food without the gas station. The food is really cheap, but it's well worth the price. At the end of the day you get what you pay for, so I wouldn't expect anything super nice. But it is decent for the price. The one thing I have to give them, they have excellent ice cream. I got a marshmallow sundae that was beyond belief, so props on that. It's good for a cheap bite for the family. Try it out! read more

Absolute garbage food, you're better off eating from the Summerville High dumpster across the street. And that's if you can even GET your food, it's common to wait 30-45 minutes for your gas station quality burger and fries (which can't take more than 5 minutes to make). There are not enough Tastee Freez left in America. Dairy Queen has about run em out. It's one of the very few chain fast food joints that sell honest to goodness decent pit smoked pork bobbycue. Burgers are fair to middling but the chili dogs are world class. Cheap, not trying to bake more out of them than they are, the serve a good, solid chili dog. It's the kind of chili you can eat with one hand in three bites while riding a bicycle. The weenie has never met a rabbi. The chili had never been to Texas. But the pickles are cold. The bun is fresh. The feller making it is happy and knows his stuff. They don't cost 4.99. There's a lot to like about this place. It's clean but doesn't wreak of pinesol. read more

Little ditty about Jack & Diane... I can't see a Tastee Freez without thinking of the line, "sucking on a chili dog outside the Tastee Freez." Now you have that song stuck in your head, right? The reason Mellencamp wrote that lyric is because Tastee Freez is an icon. This one did not disappoint. I had a Big Tee burger and it was fantastic - piping hot and full of yummy goodness. The cheese was gooey, the pickles were abundant, and the condiments were just right. My wife had the corn dogs, and she loved them. They were nicely sized for a good amount of money. She did say that she had to use more ketchup than usual because they were a bit dry. The fries are shoestring and not the most flavorful I've ever tasted. The banana split (yep, we split one) was gooey, yummy, and fully loaded. If you like the burger and fries along with ice cream, you'll love the iconic Tastee Freez in Summerville. Keep in mind that this is right across from SHS, so the restaurant is often full of high school kids. They can be annoying (super annoying), but the staff does a nice job of keeping them under control. read more

Hi, We have been going to Tastee Freez for many years. But, it has been going down hill. The last 3 x's we've gone very disappointing. One time the shake was very liquid & did not taste like a banana shake at all. The last time I had a banana spit, it was half way melted. I use to eat here where I ate meat and consumed dairy products. I loved this place as it was nearby, prices beyond reasonable, and the food was always good. This place receives a ton of business being across from summerville high school. Worse time to visit was during the School lunch hour and Friday evenings. We love going here for classic soft serve ice cream. They remain open with the drive through during the C19 pandemic. We stopped by for an old fashioned sundae and a Freeze (equivalent of a DQ Blizzard). They do an awesome job of getting the balance right, assuring that the candies are well mixed into the ice cream, and they actually ask if you want vanilla, Chocolate or twist instead of assuming you want vanilla. I love Tastee Feez chocolate malts. OK...I am a relic of the 50's, but that's what I like. Good chocolate malts are getting harder to find, so when I see a Tastee Freez (they're getting hard to find as well), I have to stop for the malt. Kind of like In-N-Out meets Sonic. Maybe? I grew up in Summerville but since i didn't go to Summerville I never went to Tastee Freez (I'm assuming that's how most people get indoctrinated). I don't think i'd ever say "hey i know let's go to Tastee Freez" but I don't think I'd ever turn it down should someone else say that. We went at lunchtime on a weekday right after they opened so it wasn't busy at all, we were served promptly, the food was all tasty and not greasy. All in all it was a good experience. read more

This place was that spot when I went to school. There's was always great people with great service but that was the original place before it was rebuild. Tonight I experience the worse service every. I just got off of work and decided to try this place out before I headed to my meeting. Worst decision ever! My card was swiped but I sat at the second window for 10 minutes. Two cars were served before I was even recognized that I have an order at this establishment. Two workers walked by the window along with a young man horseplaying with a girl in a red shirt the back. It's was until I saw a third person and finally got her attention and informed her that I've been sitting here and paid but haven't been served. I love this place! I've been going here for years and the food is consistently fresh and made to order. The prices are reasonable and the service is fantastic!
