Tasty Chinese continues to be better than most takeout places I've tried north of the Twin Bridges. It's not on a par with Ocean Palace or Northeast Chinese in Albany, but well above most places in Saratoga County. On a return visit I had Wor Shu Duck, which I would recommend to anyone because it's a Polynesian mashup (supposedly developed by Trader Vic in Oakland) that is hard to find anywhere these days. A deboned duck is formed into a sliceable loaf with wonderful duck skin on the top. It's usually served with a sweetish almond sauce, but Tasty had a brown sauce I didn't love. Still a must in my book. Also tried the Double Sautéed Pork, which sounded like twice cooked pork belly but isn't. Tender velveted pork loin slices are mixed with a lot of vegetables and served with the same brown sauce as the Wor Shu Duck. Get one of these dishes but not both. Also got a tub of hot and sour soup for $6.15, a bargain these days. It's good with heat, vinegar and bounteous ingredients. Tasty has bowed to peer pressure somewhat and they now serve those fried noodles American-style with your take out order, though the noodles are fresh and probably made in house. Surprisingly very good. Not from the area so stopped in for a quick lunch. Ordered the lunch menu a Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. The Shrimp were properly cooked, plump and hot, the sauce full of egg white and finely diced vegetables. The fried rice was equally full of pork and vegetables. All was very good. The Crab Rangoons were very good. A great SURPRISE! Go there. read more

My parents have been trying to find a good spot for Chinese take-out since moving to the area a few years ago, and this is another one crossed off, but might be one we return to. It's not bad, but it just doesn't quite hit the spot when you're craving the flavor profile of solid Chinese take-out. Tonight we got a good variety of menu items & continuously ended up with the same opinion: it's okay, just lacking some seasoning. Between the three of us, we got the following: - a pork lo mein combo platter - the pork fried rice was under seasoned & veggie heavy, the lo mein was the favorite of the night, but the pork was a little more garlicky than anything else - a spare rib combo platter: same thing with the rice, and ribs were a bit tough - crab Rangoons: good crunch, wontons needed a touch of salt - fried wontons: needed a touch of salt, but great crunch - egg rolls: good crunch, a little on over-fried side though Everything was hot & ready to go quite quickly, and portion sizes were a fairly good size; it'd be easy to have leftovers for the next day. The location is right in the Market32 plaza so parking is easy too. It didn't quite satisfy the craving for good take-out, but it's the closest my parents have found so far, so it might be one we return to. read more

Tasty USED to be the best... recently, the last 2 times, the food had no flavor, smaller portions, and soup cold on a 7 min ride home... how can soup be cold in 7 min? Spicy chicken items used to be crispy, now soggy, with smaller portions of rice, with higher prices. Actually, a local market place has better options in the freezer department. Walking into the place gave us second thoughts because it was real dirty, but we ordered over the phone. On what planet is this food!?!?! We ordered sweet and sour chicken and a pu-pu plater and this is what we got....Three of the items in the pupu platter were mystery items that we just threw in the garbage,in addition, the pork ribs were charred beyond edible, the shrimp had enough batter on them to cover a piece of meat as big as my palm..wow! My barometer for Chinese food is General Tso Chicken and pork fried rice- USUALLY! I have never thought about how clean a place may be. I was in a hotel nearby and called in my order. I got here and was shocked how gross this place is. The girl doing the cash register, many times, touched food. I know that is a health violation. The food was fair, chicken was overcooked and pork fried rice had no flavor. The Coca-cola was excellent! I will not return and I would not recommend this place. I never noticed the "health department" rating on Yelp. Now I will check all the places I eat. I travel a lot. I try to eat at local places and not chains. Located in the Shops of Malta, this family operated Chinese restaurant is an order at the counter place with open kitchen and a few tables for eating in. Very disappointed. Argumentative on the phone was the first thing that should've clued me in. The takeout bag smelled delicious but boy what a disappointment when I opened my volcano beef to find the onion to beef ratio was 4 to 1. It was all onions with only black pepper for seasoning. The meat was not tender at all very chewy in a way like how uncooked meat chews and tears. The spring rolls were all dough with little filler and also so chewy you had to use sauce. General Tso's chicken First you have to understand this is primarily a Chinese takeout place with only a few tables that can barely fit 4 people elbow to elbow at each (see photo). I decided to eat lunch inside one Sunday and I had a great meal. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and had the Hot & Sour soup in lieu of the canned soda. Total cost was a little over $5.50 for the lunch special and it was way more than I could eat. I should mention I am a good eater at 6'0" and 225 lbs. and previously lived 10 years in Asia. What I received was both excellent and a large portion. The soup is about 10oz and the plate of General Tso's chicken, rice and broccoli is stacked high (see photo). It was super tasty and more than I could finish. This is clearly a great takeout place or a spot to nip into for a fast lunch. There is no atmosphere aside from the Chef's talking and laughing amongst themselves and the clanging of woks and cooking utensils. With a Cantonese Chinese background, I am open to all food from different culture but am particular about the quality, quantity, and value. With that said, Tasty Chinese Restaurant is not an ordinary American-Chinese restaurant and is worthy of my review. Located at Shops of Malta and being only few miles from where i live, this place is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Southern Saratoga. Having read decent reviews, I decided to bring my family there to eat. We each ordered individual lunch specials (from 11 - 3 pm everyday), each served with a side (choose soda, soup, egg roll, or crab rangoon) for $5.25 each. With around 20 specials to choose from, I chose shrimp with mixed vegetable. A sufficient & generous portion with white rice and dish equally balanced on a plate, lots of shrimps (or meat), food prepared fresh per request, delicious smelling rice, good value! Crab rangoon was chewy inside and crunchy outside. Only downside I see is the dine-in area is not the cleanest with limited booth seating and the meal may be a bit oily. Next time, I will try to ask them to ease the oil and order another lunch special. This was the second Chinese restaurant in Malta that we tried and it's by far our favorite. Both the veggie lo mein and shrimp lo mein are BOMB! That's what we order the most. The shrimp with broccoli is good. When had my sisters and little cousins for a couple weeks and they loved this place as well. They had sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken, plain fried rice and shrimp fried rice. They loved it ALL. I've had the chicken wings maybe 4 times, 2 of the times they were amazing the other 2 they were just meh. But we don't eat chicken often and just decided to skip that menu item. We had the shrimp dumplings and noodle soup here before, and the shrimp and snow peas. They were pretty good. This is the first time we ordered the General Tso's chicken. It was awful, barely edible. Over cooked, hard to chew, and almost no broccoli. We ordered the butterfly shrimp as an appetizer. Awful. We stopped in on a Wed. night. It wasn't busy but the customers were very steady. We ate in the restaurant. We ordered: Chicken Lo Mein Egg Foo Yung Sesame Chicken Spicy Beef with Vegetables Boneless Spareribs Crab Rangoon Egg Rolls The lo mein was delicious with veggies that had a nice crunch (but not too crunchy). My mother had the egg foo yung and said it was excellent as was the accompanying sauce. She also loved the egg rolls. I liked them but I didn't love them. The only thing I wasn't that impressed with was my son's sesame chicken. The batter was very crispy and The beef was great with a nice assortment of fresh veggies. It could have been spicier but the person who ordered loves his spicy meals very hot. The crab rangoon was standard fare, homemade and yummy. The boneless spareribs were SO good and I don't even like spareribs. They were made with that red sticky sauce, Ah-So sauce. The ribs were an unnatural red, with a little char on the ends. Mmmmmm, they were sweet and meaty and flipping delicious. The portions were very large and we brought home tons of leftovers. Service was speedy as well. Another bonus is that they use NO msg in their food. Overall it was very, very good and we were happy with our meal. I would recommend Tasty Chinese. read more

Chicken with vegetables and beef with snow peas were tasteless and dripping with sauce. The vegetables were soggy and the pork egg rolls were overly spiced with something that covered up every other flavor and they were very hard, couldn't find any pork in them! Egg drop soup was ok. We used to go there all the time, maybe this was a fluke, but it was so bad, we threw away the leftovers instead of saving them for lunch. I have been eating at Tasty Chinese for over ten years now. In a nutshell, it isn't the best Chinese take out I've ever had and it isn't the worst. It is middle of the road quality, thus the three stars. My favorite dish my them is the General Tsao's chicken, ordered mild. The egg/spring rolls are also good. They serve you a decent size portion on the main dishes, where as some places use rice as a filler on their plates. You won't be disappointed eating here, but you won't be raving either. read more

Unlike other places, this place has oolong tea packets you can grab to go; it really makes your day whether you use the tea now or later. The oolong provides you with a warm, spiritual hug to your belly - the only known counter to the temper-tantrum in your tummy that inevitably results from eating Chinese food.
