The food was your typical Chinese food. The crab Rangoon were good but the house special rice noodles dish was dry. I never thought to order extra sauce. My husband ordered Orange Chicken, more breading than chicken. The fried rice was on the dry side but it was tasty. I'm not sure if we would order from there again. Just not impressed. read more

I have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants, here and in other cities and states - NYC including Chinatown, all over NYS, San Francisco Bay Area and LA in California, Massachusetts including Chinatown in Boston, to name a few. I understand reviews that are negative for less than stellar customer service but I think the food is pretty decent. I never had a bad experience here in terms of food or customer service. Always been fine and definitely much better food than another place in town (which has five star reviews, very strange considering my own experience with their food). There is better Chinese food in the capital region but I do not find this disappointing at all. My boyfriend has been pleased with the food he's gotten here as well. Never had anything that was super greasy as others mentioned. Mine has always been pretty low on the grease factor. Maybe it depends on what you order. Where's the partay??? It was at a very plain looking Chinese takeout place called Oriental Chinese Restaurant in Mechanicville. I stopped in here for some early dinner takeout over the weekend. Upon entering this place from the frigid cold, it was defintely hot in herre!!! BA-BOOM-BA-BOOM-BA-BOOM!!!!! I was very surprised to hear Chinese club/techno music pumping throughout the entire open kitchen and out into the dining area as the clubbers (oops, I meant cooks) in the kitchen were really enjoying themselves and having a grand ol time! I felt like I was at a disco club in Beijing, love it!! They did turn down the techno music down a bit as I placed my order. The menu offerings include the standard Chinese fare and specialties as well as healthy options, 58 Daily Lunch Specials ($3.99-$4.99), 24 Combination Plates ($6.25-$6.99) and 8 Family Size Winter Bargain Deals ($22.99). I ordered the Combo 13 ($6.25) Pork Lo Mein served with pork fried rice and egg roll. The food was cooked to order quickly by several "clubbers" in the kitchen. From experience, more sh-t usually gets done quicker with some very upbeat music playing in the background. The good amount of food I had was pretty good. The lo mein had a good balance of roast pork, vegetables (carrots, sprouts, cabbage, onions), and noodles, though the noodles were overcooked and very soft, like ramen. The fried rice (yellow color) had roast pork, onions, and small pieces of whipped egg. The egg roll was nice and crispy outside, stuffed with a good mix of shredded cabbage and ground pork. We have had Chinese takeout from many different locations around the capital region, but this one is certainly a gem. The quality of the food is what you would expect if you went in to sit down at a nice restaurant. I would note, this place is only a take-out spot. Not a place to go sit down. But if the quality is this good, who really cares? We have had a lot of sesame chicken plates from places in the area, this one is the best. Feast on! read more

A lot of folks in Mechanicville go there. I've never found it to be overly clean. I consider it clean if the ceiling fan is maintained clean; which for the most times...is not. The boneless bbq spareribs are always over cooked and shoe leather hard. House Rice is good. Sesame Chicken is more like Orange Chicken. They do meet the 10 minute time. read more

Absolutely awful! We ordered 2 combos and both lacked flavor and looked pretty sad as well. When did Chinese fried rice suddenly become plain yellow rice, which made me think it was Spanish rice??? I have two experiences from this Chinese Restaurant. One back in 2015...i was inside the store for the first experience. "Staff has been ignoring customers who are standing in front of them for ten minutes while the worker continues to answer phone call after phone call. Chinese food was good. Limited parking." And my second experience was today and it was for delivery. I ordered a combo dinner and told the guy that I did not like pork friend race and asked for white rice or more lo mein. The guy had a hard time hearing me and it was hard to make out what he was saying but I thought he said ok to the white rice. He then tells me there is a ten dollar minimum for delivery so I added crab ragoons to my order. He said it will take forty minutes to deliver and I got my food in fifteen (which was a plus.) The delivery guy tells me it is 15 dollars. I thought that was high so I asked him if it was free delivery. He said no, they charge a dollar to deliver which is fine but I wish they told me before hand. I opened my food and mixed in the lo mein was pork friend rice. I threw the rice in the garbage. The lo mein, crab ragoons and egg roll was very good. Overall experience I would rate this place a two out of five stars. read more

this place serves great Chinese food! I have missed great Chinese food since moving from metro NYC to the capital region of NY. I finally found a restaurant that makes GREAT chinese food. It is not much for physical surroundings but the take out I ordered made my mouth water all the way home from the place. We ordered Wonton soup, steamed dumplings,Chicken Lo Mein, Moo Shu Pork and General Tso's chicken were all the best we had had in about 8 years. It's worth the drive to get the food you are craving! Clearly people in Mechanicville will love this place, but if anyone in this town ever ventured out of their little town they would realize this food is disgusting, the chicken is like eating animal bone shavings and fryer grease. After going to the other Chinese restaurant in town, I figure I should give this place try. I ordered their General Tso chicken combination platter which comes with pork fried rice and a egg roll. I also order a pint of their chicken and broccoli. I will say this, the pork fried rice is really,really good here. I also like their egg rolls better here. The chicken and broccoli was fresh and hot. I also have tried their lo mein which I didn't care for at all. I will definitely will be ordering from here again. The staff who answers the phone was very rude, not sure how they stays in business, worst customer service I ever had. I put in an order last night and just being around the corner and not during the peak hour, they told me it will take an hour for delivery with the worst tone it possibly can be. The food here is pretty good overall. One of the women that answers when you call is just awful. She is rude and rushes through your credit card number. Then calls you back 5 minutes later telling you there is no money on your card and she couldn't have possibly taken the number down wrong (this has happened three times now). Everytime I ask her to take my card number down again and magically it goes through that time. I have tried many different items on the menu and it's all pretty good. Yes it is a plain looking take out place but it has the best chinese food in the area I think. Had wonton soup, egg rolls, fried dumplings,vegetable fried rice, 3 Muskateers and Singapore Rice noodles for dinner. All was amazing except the fried rice was a different color (orange) than we had ever seen. Tasted ok just different color. The Singaporre Rice noodles were just as good as what I had in China Town, NYC years ago. I am willing to drive the 20 minutes to get this food wish they would move closer to CP I would be a more frequent customer. read more
