OMG love this bakery. They have the best cake pops and homemade cookies. I haven't bought one of their custom cakes yet, but they looked phenomenal, plus the cake I sampled was delicious. The prices were not bad for the high quality and the service was great, too. This place has great selection and good service. You have to get the cookies, they are so good, not too sugary sweet and they are little mini works of art. The peanut butter chocolate was my favorite flavor. They had some special brownie cookie that I bought and it was so gooey delicious that I almost ran back in the store and bought more, but they were about to close. I'll be sure to get some more of those when we come back. I can't wait to try this bakery again. My wife likes it a lot, too, and is a big fan now, especially of the cake pops and chocolate cookies. read more

I was emailing with this company for a few days before I called and made the order. They were so accommodating, everyone was nice, helpful, and attentive. When I saw the finished product I was amazed! Turned out better then the picture I had sent as an example! It was $105 cake - but I thought it was worth every penny. Once we decided to lock in our baker, they sat down in a one on one with us to make sure that our desserts were exactly what we were looking for! We used Tasty Layers for our wedding and I would not recommend going here. We should have picked another place from the start when we got to the store, but had already paid a deposit. The customer service was subpar as I felt the employees were unwilling to help and answer questions. One of the women helping us was training and provided almost no helpful info whatsoever. As to the quality of the desserts, they very underwhelming and extremely overpriced. The wedding cake was mediocre at best. We wanted a simply looking cake, but it seemed as if it was lazily done. As for the taste, the cake was dry and tasted as if it was stale. Almost everyone we asked said it was not good, which we obviously agreed. Lastly, we ordered a dessert table that was okay. The cupcakes were good, but expensive. The cookies were average and something that could have been done by any other bakery at a fraction of the cost. As for the cannolis we ordered, I would absolutely recommend NOT ordering these. They were some alternative version of cannolis that were not good. Also, the amount they charged for the cannolis was unreal given that they were mini cannolis. Would absolutely not recommend this bakery, especially for the cost. Please take my advice and find somewhere else to go. read more

We stopped in after calling to talk about a wedding cake for our daughters wedding. The woman who waited on us was so rude and acted like she was doing us a favor by waiting on us. She asked us for a $50 deposit to hold the date until my daughter and future son-in-law met with the cake designer. After I gave her the $50, she told me it was nonrefundable. To make matters worse, you must purchase cupcakes in the flavors you are considering for your tasting! Of all of the bakeries we visited, not one asked us to pay for a tasting. We did wind up purchasing cupcakes and it was obvious they were made from a box mix. The frostings were Somewhat unique but not super special in anyway. I would purchase a cake from Sam's club before I purchased a cake from this place! read more

We used this bakery for our wedding for the wedding cake and dessert. It seemed like everyone liked the cupcakes. The cannolis we had were good but very expensive since the actual cannolis were mini compared to what I have seen at other bakeries. Our wedding cake was marble with buttercream layers and it was so dry. I would not recommend this bakery for wedding cake. I was definitely disappointed. The design of the cake was fine as it was what we asked for. Lastly, it doesn't seem worth it to get the dessert setup through Tasty Layers for the wedding as it really wasn't worth the cost. Overall, this was the only vendor I would have changed for our wedding if I could do it all over again. read more

We used Tasty Layers for our wedding cupcakes and cutting cake and couldn't have been happier with process, the prices, or the outcome. We were planning a wedding at the Flint Institute of Arts from out of state, meaning most things needed to be done via phone or email, and we had problems with many Flint-area vendors working this way. Not Tasty Layers! They responded to email promptly and we never had a single frustration with them. We stopped in for a tasting in July for a January wedding, and had fun trying their many flavors. We ordered 12 dozen cupcakes in a variety of flavors and a small cutting cake, and also rented stands from them. Everything was delivered for us and set up, with no problems that I know of, and we ended up spending about $500, which I thought was very reasonable. People RAVED about the quality of the cupcakes, and my only regret about the whole day is that I didn't get to try one! I had a small piece of delicious cake during our cutting, but honestly I could not fit any food into my dress ;) Highly recommended, either for popping in for one cupcake when you need a treat (they always have a variety made for immediate purchase and consumption), a dozen for a party, or for a wedding order. read more

The staff was easy to communicate with throughout the whole process of picking out and deciding on a cake. My husband and I went to their shop and tested out different flavor combinations by tasting their delicious cupcakes. They have tons of examples that support their intricate cake decorating skills. On the day of, the delivery went smooth with no complications. The actual cake was incredible. It was moist and we could not get enough of the frosting. Very disappointed, I found this place at last looking for birthday cakes online, there pictures looked very nice and thought why not give it a try? So I went to the store and I asked nicely if it was possible to get a custom cake for my daughters birthday that was in a week, and the lady that was working just said "No!! it's wedding season and you should've made the order 2-3 weeks in advance" "but you can try to get these cakes that we make fresh everyday" seriously? WOW! Im just upset that she didn't even try, customer service here suckssss!! There was not a "let me check to see if we have an empty spot" or "let me see what I can do for you".. Nope just didn't care, she didn't even ask what kind of cake I had in mind. I was willing to pay extra if it was necessary, since she wasn't helpful I just walked away. Went somewhere else and got my daughters cake order placed! If you are a busy parent just like me and only have just a week to place an order for a custom cake don't even come here! They originally did my wedding three years ago and when we went for the cake tasting (which was surreal it was so good) I knew we made the right choice. The wedding cake was not only tasty but exactly as we had asked. Since then I have ordered cakes for both my anniversaries as well as my wife's birthday and this week, she is getting me a Tasty Layer cake for Father's Day. I used Tasty Layers for my wedding cake 5 years ago and have been going there for cupcakes and custom cakes ever since. The staff is friendly and realistic - they give you good input during the ordering process and ask great questions so they can deliver a design you'll be thrilled with. The cupcake display case is always full of amazing unique flavors along with old favorites and the cake/cupcakes and frosting are DELICIOUS! You can walk-in and pick up one or a dozen cupcakes at any time, and they often have pre-made cakes ready to go also. If you're lucky enough to find ganache bombs in the display case, treat yourself to at least one - they are so yummy! Once in a while you will get someone nice, but most of the time they act like it is a chore to deal with you and they are can't wait for you to leave. My latest experience was that I called at 2:57pm on Saturday because I needed 2 dozen cupcakes for a party. While my cake looked beautiful on the outside, I found it to be dry on the inside (chocolate and banana), with barely a smear of frosting between the two layers. The cupcakes were extremely moist and delicious, but I was very disappointed with the cake. I paid $124 for a dry cake with a cute fondant design.
