Been a loyal customer since they started. Always had 3 vehicles all going through several sets of tires each along with engine and interior repairs. I gradually began noticing an increase in cost, several times a very noticeable out of line increase. Price of tires is always way more than you are quoted because of all the extra items, service and fees added. I hate that valve stems are extra charges separate from the tire itself. It's part of the tire. Tire has to have them and they should not be an added cost. Tire disposal is not my problem. I shouldn't have to pay for extra to haul off the stores trash. One of my vehicles is a Lexus SUV. I am used to everything being more expensive for whatever reason. But when I got the bill for 1300 dollars for four tires I was not happy, but paid it. Could have went anywhere else for half that. Having a charge account is to convenient because its easier to just put it on the tab. But the reason I am writing this is I believe they crossed the line. There should be some consideration for the years of being a customer. Maybe not get special deals but at least not get tagged for every penny they can. My daughters window would not move and it was half way down completely stuck. I called told them need passenger window repaired, no problem. She took it in told them passenger side window needs fixed. They gave her an "estimate" cost of 100 dollars which she reported to me and I approved it. I picked her up as they were taking it in the shop to have lunch and shop. Before lunch was over they called saying it was done. I was shocked how quick. Less than an hour. Dropped her off, they put it on my tab handed her the bill and the keys and off she went. She puts the bill in the glove box and life went on. A week later the window gets stuck the same way, i told her to take it back but the next day it began working. A month later it happens again and I forced it closed and told her to just leave the damn thing up, all the while THINKING the bill was close to the estimate of 100 dollars. 5 months pass since repair and it breaks again this time it is stuck bad so I told her to bring me the bill so I could see if there is a warranty on their work still thinking it was 100 dollars. I opened the bill and noticed that they, billed me for replacing BOTH front windows one of which worked fine and was never mentioned as needing or wanting repair. Parts were 150 per window for a new motor in each. Labor charge for installing both was a SUB total of 350 dollars. Here is the beauty part, they charged me 100 dollars which on the top of the bill was referred to as "estimate" but in the billing part was now called a diagnostic charge. Which meant that, we said the window is not working, they agreed to repair the window. I did not know why it didn't work but assumed that prior to repairing it THEY would figure out why it didn't work in order to complete the repair. Broke window, find out why its broke and fix it, is what I believed the process would be. I was wrong. Figuring out the "why" it is broke costs 100 dollars calling it diagnosis time. I would have waived the diagnosis fee just to see how they intended to repair a window without knowing why it was broke. Moving on to the second page of the bill a transportation surcharge of 2.50 as included. I assume thats how much it they charge to drive it 20 feet into the shop. I always kinda figured that was free or I'd have driven it in there myself OR they can fix out in the lot. 2.50 was how much I made per hour at my first job. The bill continues and for some reason this was my favorite. 60 dollars for shop supplies. Would really like to get an itemized list of what supplies were used and the cost of each. Loyal customer for 20+ years and get charged 60 bucks for shop supplies. I'm surprised they didn't charge me for printing out the bill. One more note: on page one it states "customer requests repair of right front window". On the second page it states "Both front windows repaired by customer service tech Donald". Estimate was 100. Actual cost 831.00 for installing one window motor, allegedly. 831.00 for a repair that one week later failed and failed 3 more times within 4 months. One might wonder if a new motor was actually installed considering it lasted one week. AND it really brings into question if anything at all as done to the working perfectly driver window. That one didn't fail after a week because it was never broken. But it was my fault for not reading the bill. It was my wifes fault for putting an automatic pay every month like every other bill has. But it's their fault for fraud. I called and told my story to whoever answered the phone. Told him that she was bringing her car in later and I want the window fixed and all you will hand her when she picks it up is her keys. That happened. Not sure what to do about the bill. They never offered to make any of it right even after he saw it read more

Tate Boys is great! They are pretty quick and are helpful at trying to identify things to watch out for without upselling you. They aren't always the cheapest, but at least I know they'll do a great job and stand by their work. I wish they could do more kinds of auto service sometimes, but they do more than the average tire shop. read more

I went to the Bartlesville location on highway 75 on Thursday, 3/20/2025. I wanted to get an oil change and also inquired about the oil pressure sensor and screen being replaced. Was told by Keith that there was no screen to be replaced but he would call me with an estimate anyway. About 5-10 minutes later at 10:29am he called me and let me know it was $49.98 to replace the sensor, however when I asked if that meant the screen would be cleaned/replaced/removed he said no. So I said please just proceed with the oil change only then. After talking with a personal friend who is a mechanic, he said yes there is a screen and it should be replaced along with the sensor. So I called back at 10:41am and talked to another gentleman who confirmed this, so since the previous gentleman (Keith) told me it would be $49.98 I told them to go ahead and replace it. When I went to pick up my truck at 12:02pm (they had it in the back less than an hour for everything, I know this because I was across the street having breakfast and was watching when the truck left the spot and showed back up) I was told my price would be $614.87. I was completely startled and thought he was actually joking with me until he said that was really my total. I was expecting it to be no more than $125 - about $50 for oil change, about $50 for the sensor and tax, etc. Long story short, I got upset because this truck belongs to my widowed mother, and neither her nor I (a single mom) can afford this. And the manager is telling me I have no choice but to pay it. So to get my moms truck back, I paid it. The manager let me know that the calls are recorded so I indicated to him that I would like him to pull those calls. I also called and spoke to Keith at 12:18pm after I returned home and let him know that I would like the phone calls pulled as well. This was Thursday afternoon and I have not heard back from anyone. I feel like I was taken advantage of, ripped off and completely sick about the whole situation and these men should be ashamed of themselves. I have heard many stories of people being taken advantage of by Tate boys in the last year or so but had not experienced it myself until this day and I will say I will never return and I will encourage none of my friends and family to take their business there. Especially my women friends. They overcharged me for the service performed and would not tell me their shop rates (whether hourly or otherwise). read more

You found the right place, you don't need to look any further! I found myself having serious brake issues over Mother's Day weekend. Being from another state, I relied upon a family friends recommendation to drive 30 minutes to take my car here. Boy am I glad I listened. Theses folks took care of me from my first phone call to see if they would help me to handing me back my keys when they were finished. Coming from a large city and being a female I was prepared for the worst and from the moment I spoke the lady on the phone ( G.Cummings) it was anxiety free and service above and beyond. They were willing to see me on a Saturday (holiday weekend to boot) without an appointment and diagnosed my issues in a very timely manner. While it turned out to be a computer issue they could not address they thoroughly went over the issues with me, wrote down the error codes and definitions, so I could take my car to the dealership in my home town and would not have to repeat the diagnostic again. I was prepared for a hundred dollar plus bill for the diagnostic test and much to my shock and surprise they did not charge me for their services. Let me just tell you in that moment they gained 6 brand new customers! 3 that live within a 45 min range and 3 that will schedule our tire and brake needs as we travel back to the area, as we often do. Based on the recommendation of a friend, I took our car in for new tires and, what I believed was needed, to replace a damaged rear shock absorber. They ordered the shock and called me when it came in. Once I arrived at their location, I was frustrated to wait almost an hour before my car was looked at (the reason for 4 stars, instead of 5). The tires were installed, but I was informed that there was nothing wrong with the shock, but that it was just a matter of a couple of loose bolts that they tightened at no charge. This was a test of trust, as they could have gone ahead and installed the shock, charged me. And to top it off, the tires were a few dollars less than estimated. I will be happy to recommend them to others. read more

bought new mud and snow tires from tates ( been a customer for many years with many vehicals ) took tahoe in to get the tires put on and was told it would be 2 1/2 hours . five hours later I went to pick it up and they also charged me for an alignment ( which I was never told they were doing ) and when my husband called to ask about it they said I said to do it .... very poor business ethics to fraud and lie when they don't need to they stay busy . I do not recommend ever using this place again and they should be reported to better business bureau . read more

They tried to reach me but to no avail. So they took care of me the "old fashioned way" with a car jack. Based on my experience, would be happy to recommend Tate Boys Tire & Service. If you are tired of getting ripped off by auto repair shops, read this. Travelling from St Louis in 2007 Nissan Armada LE 4wd. TPMS warning light on. Stopped in Springfield MO and had TPMS sensors checked and defective one was replaced. Install shop told me that the warning light would reset after driving about 20miles. Warning light did not reset. Stopped for weekend in Bartlesville and called nearest Nissan shop (Tulsa) who advised that they would check TPMS sensors and reset for $110 service fee, or replace defective TPMS sensors @$230 each. Checked local autopart stores and found replacement TPMS sensors $40-$50 but they did not have reset tool and recommended checking with Tate Boys to see if they could reset. Stopped in and asked if they could reset sensors. They were happy to check all sensors and reset the system. Less that 10min. Offered by pay them for this service, they declined. If more places were like this, our vehicles would be better and last longer; AND we would not label auto technicians as crooks! read more

We were passing through Oklahoma on our way to Texas when our car overheated on a Saturday afternoon in bartellsville. They were fast, helpful, very clear about what they were going to do. Recentlly, an acqaientence of mine had her oil changed at Tate Boys. Before her car entered the store her hood open and lattched fine. When she left the store it did not, obviouslly having been sprung by one of the technitions. The manager gave her the stiff arm and will not offer any resolution. Took my car in to get the oil changed and was greeted by an incredibly nice employee. He called me by name, wasn't pushy, made sure my information was up to date, and offered me a water while I waited. He received a phone call during my time at the counter and knew the customer by his voice alone, and remembered exactly what the customer had brought his car in for. THAT is customer service!
