Not only is the Yale location great but the service here is unmatched when it comes to car repairs! I am so glad that I tried this place when I was in distress over my AC not working in this Tulsa heat. They were able to take me as a walk in, get a diagnostic within 30 minutes, and repair my car and sanity within a short visit! Driving a rental from Phoenix to Ohio and woke up on a Saturday in Tulsa Oklahoma with a very low tire. Tried filling at a gas station but tire sensors still all wrong. Stopped at Tate Boys and they immediately helped us out. They reset the tire pressures, got our low tire filled and all under five minutes. Sorry didn't catch the name of the guy who helped us but quick and friendly and didn't charge us. So big thank you to this business. read more

Don't go to Tate Boys. Classic bait and switch on oil change coupons. I presented the coupon for $39.99 and they said no problem. 20 minutes later when my car went on the lift, they came back and said the coupon isn't good for European cars and it would be $120.00. Of course the coupon doesn't state this..European cars make up over 25% of cars in the U.S. I was getting ready to spend $1200 for new tires with them. They lost my business forever. read more

I had to call the Sun Auto Group Corporate Office again- no response. I spoke to J*** the manager at the 81st and Harvard location. Their employee altered the original report sent to me that my breaks were at end of service to show internally on their docs as 50% degradation. I have attached the actual report the employee sent me previously. Even at the 50% claim that would be quite the feat since the pads were replaced in March 5,000 miles ago. As I told the manager, they are dishonest there. When I asked the manager to reconcile the findings he said "I'm going to put a pause on the situation, "have a good day " and hung up. Sun Auto is the corp office. I don't know about all locations for Tate Boys, but this one is staffed with either incompetent or dishonest people. read more

This place is basically the dollar tree of automotive services!!!! Avoid!!!! My van was in the shop for new struts, shocks, bent tie rod, and an alignment. After three times in the shop they still couldn't fix my problem and caused more problems due to bad and incorrect OEM parts and obvious unskilled technicians. After over week and multiple Lyft rides back and forth (they couldn't even offer me a ride even after making mistakes which caused me to return). So after dealing with all this I finally had to take it to Ford to get the job completely redone, only after finding out they put defective OEM parts on my van. Which was the reason of the problem they caused. I then had to have another alignment done too because the alignment they originally did wasn't even done correctly. They couldn't even do an alignment properly! When I tried to ask for a refund and return the bad parts to them they just made excuses and would not acknowledge the mistakes they made or offer any kind of refund! Thanks for stealing $1700+ from me Tate Boys and wasting my time . This shop has unqualified technicians and they were also not upfront about putting OEM aftermarket parts on my Ford transit van. I would not recommend Tate Boys for any automotive service. You have been warned!! read more

My service at Tate boys was terrible. I had a secondary warranty and they didn't give me a diagnosis so therefore the secondary warranty would not pay so they charged me $181 and didn't fix my car and didn't get a diagnosis. What kind of business is that if you're a woman don't go there yes they were very nice until they got me in there and suckered me out of $181 and didn't get anything out of it. Tate Boys asked me to call or email to discuss my review. I emailed and have not received a response. Just had a friend who had an oil leak, went to Tate, was told it was coming from the oil pan but the leak was originating from above it, which would require removing the engine to access. Cost would be several thousands of dollars. The friend went somewhere else for a second opinion and was told it was just the oil pan leaking. He had it fixed there at a much lesser cost and no more oil leak. There seems to be a pattern with them but draw your own conclusions. I recommend Robertson's Tire, who have been in business for several decades and have several locations in the Tulsa area. read more

DON'T TRUST TATE BOYS especially the bank, Credit First N.A., they use for their credit card. When they first opened they were reasonable in their prices but as time went on they really raised prices and were more into pressuring a person to buy their tires than to fix a flat that was brought in. Now they have stores all over and I guess the pressure has gotten to management about survival in the industry and are looking for ways to stay alive. Just recently they started charging $3.99 for a paper statement in the mail. Therefore they are pressuring me into going online which I don't like so I cancelled the credit card from CFNA. I paid in full and was never going back to Tate Boys. Then I received another statement from them the next month with a $3.99 charge and a late fee of $29 from being sent in the mail, bringing the total to $32.99. Mail is ridiculously slow these days. It used to take only three days to get across the U.S. and now it takes about 9 days to get across the U.S.. Just one of the many reasons homelessness is on the rise. I recently visited needed a mechanic for a red battery light issue. Initially quoted $60 for an inspection, the price jumped to $150 upon arrival. They claimed I needed a new alternator, quoting nearly $1000 for the part and hinting at additional installation costs. I found the same exact alternator they were going to charge me online for $200. Parts are often much cheaper online, and installation fees are frequently inflated. Many shops exploit customers' lack of car knowledge to overcharge. I recommend doing your own research to find fair prices. There are honest mechanics out there, but this place isn't one of them. I even witnessed someone being charged $800 for an oil change. Avoid this shop and save your money. read more

They will make mistakes, charge you late fees and then say they cannot credit their mistakes because it is not within their parameters. And now for Tate Boys. Took my car in to get an estimate for 2 wheel bearings. They came out and told me $2,500.00. Outrageous. "Why so high" we asked. Well, that's what it will cost for the wheel bearings and the three new tires. I DIDN'T ASK FOR TIRES. DID I ASK FOR TIRES? NO. Can you not just do what I asked for? Another unethical company trying to take as much as they can from you. I wouldn't suggest Tate Boys, nor their credit card. Some people like them though. Here's the thing that gets me.. They charged $1100.00 for the bearings, which means, they would have charged me $1,400 for the 3 tires. Absolutely beyond ridiculous. While about to return home to TX our van started with a concerning unknown noise. A call verified that they could look at it, and they did so quickly. The alternator I ultimately needed to replace actually had a lifetime warranty on it (from my previous DIY install many years ago), and they allowed me to pick up the part myself and deliver it to them for install so that I wouldn't have to purchase a new one and forego my warranty replacement. Pros: The best thing about this place is they have the air compressor up front so you can refill your own tires. I got a nail in one of my run flats and since run flats can't be repaired I had to buy a new tire. I ordered it from Sam's and after two weeks of waiting, I gave up on them. This Tate Boys is close to my home so I popped in here. They took care of the situation for me on the same day I came. What a relief. Cons: The tire was more expensive than at Sam's, but I was tired of dealing with that Sam's tire shop. read more

I made a 2 pm appointment through the website to have a slow leak on one new tire repaired. I indicated I would wait at the shop as they worked on the car. At no point while on the website was the policy stated that the appointment time did not guarantee or otherwise indicate that the real policy was first come first serve. In other words, the whole appointment system is false. The term appointment is NOT defined as first come first serve. I hurried to complete my work at out new house about a mile from the 82nd street Tate Boys location. I arrive a few minutes early only to be told they could not service the car until closing. That would be a three hour wait. At age 78 I have chronic medical conditions. My next scheduled medication was a 4 pm but the drugs were an 44 mines away. Without medication I could lose sight or fall in a coma. This was explained but made no difference. All I got was, "We're sorry, it's company policy, first come first serve. I have NEVER been treated so shabbily or dispassionately. NEVER treated with a lack of concern for potential life altering medical problems. As a disabled veteran I cannot recommend this this company. I intend to inform veteran's organization that I cannot recommend this company. Discount Tire in Owasso and Dallas has been my business of choice for over a decade. Discount Tire has always treated me fairly and honored appointment times. Even as a walk-in, the most time that elapsed before service was less that 60 minutes. I left the military as a executive officer and ran clinics as a civilian. I would never allow my staff to treat a customer or patient as I was treated. The Tate Boys company needs to change their policy or be forth coming and state clearly on their website and their stores that the appointment system is a hoax and their policy is first come first serve. I wish to apologize to the staff at 82nd & Yale for losing my temper. But I will never do business with Tate Boys again anywhere regardless of need and circumstances. read more

They offered me choices on how to pay, I stayed in my car, the garage I was in smelled of bleach and car stuff and that made me feel so safe. It was a heated garage and they payed some good tunes while I sat in the car and they worked. They even had a special filter for my car rushed over. By far the worst experience I have encountered in any business. Normally I wouldn't even care enough to post a review but this experience was bullsh*t. I told my tpp was no good and charged me for a tire but then didn't even replace the right tire. The store manager when proved wrong then tried to humiliate me in front of other customers and employees followed by threatening me, telling to come back after close. That's just summing everything up. I would strongly recommend not going here as they have no respect for anyone much less care about their customers or honoring their tpp. read more

I submitted a review several weeks ago and I was told someone would contact me, they have NOT. It seems my review was deleted, so I will add it again. I went in to Tate Boys to get a battery replaced. They did not have one in stock so they ordered it. Two hours later they called and it was in. I went in and when my truck was ready I was told the following by the Tate employee: We did not get the 42 month battery that I was quoted, so they installed a 30 month battery and because it was a bigger battery (?) it would cost more. I said no way and he said "let me look it up" and behold it was a 42 month battery, but it was bigger and I had to pay more!! When the clerk gave my my receipt he wrote that the battery was only 40 months. On top of this they threw my trickle charger that was on my old battery in my front seat, battery acid and all! This is like the old bait and switch that used car dealers did years ago. DON'T use Tate Boys they are not honest. read more

Do not go to the shop on 81st and Yale. They lack good technicians and accountability for bad service. I had brakes serviced on my vehicle. Total service was around $1,100 prior to my daughter going to school in St Louis. In St Louis a couple of months later my daughter went to Sam's to get new tires. Sam's could not get the lug nuts off without breaking the studs, so they turned her away. She went to a tire shop called Dobbs. Dobbs had to break the studs and charged 3 hours of labor. Roughly $400. I called Tate Boys to inform them of the situation, but my daughter also complained of the brakes continuing to squeal loudly ever since having the break done at Tate Boys. The manager said he would call me back. In the meantime, I had the Subaru dealership perform a multipoint inspection on the car to see what else may be wrong or not performed. They found that the oil had not been changed and an additional stud broke. I went to the Tate Boys and the manager was not working that day. Instead workers at the shop pleaded their case that the brake fluid would have been changed simply because it is listed on the ticket and that Dobbs should not have charged me so much for the broken studs. I eventually had to level with them that it wasn't simply about the money it was also because my daughter is 6 hours away from home driving a vehicle, they made unsafe to drive. I expressed that if she had a flat tire that tire simply could not have been changed due to the service they performed on the vehicle, but that the money is just what is fair and equitable. However, they would have the manager call me the next day. He did not call me, so I called the shop again the day after. The manager said he would reimburse me for the brake fluid even though he remained adamant that it was performed, and he continued to express his doubt that his technician did anything wrong. At this point between Sam's not being able to remove the lug nuts from the studs, Dobbs having to break the studs and bill me for 3 hours of service and the Subaru dealership telling me that based on the coffee color of the brake fluid no way it had been flushed and an additional stud broke from just doing the inspection. Yet, the manager tried to convince me that his technicians did everything right and the other 3 service shops that are wrong. He said he would refund the Brake Flush, the charges from Dobbs, and the additional stud that broke at the Subaru dealership. That was over a week ago and I still have not been refunded. He expressed that if there was a reason why they could not do the refund immediately back to the credit card that he would call me back. He has not called me back. While all I have requested was reimbursement for the additional out of pocket expenses of roughly $400 which is less the $1100 ticket; based on the fact that the car became unsafe due to their work, based on the fact that they did not perform the brake flush and based on the fact that after doing a full brake service the brakes squeal when braking they really should refund their charges more so than the additional expenses I occurred due to their faulty service. read more

worst experience and customer service I have ever dealt with. employees do not care about customers vehicles or quality of work. i had my alignment on my truck completed (2023) and several months later almost crashed my truck due to suspension not being tighted correctly and also ate up my tires. they told me the employee that did it is no longer employed at this location. I let them re align but they then didn't want to take responsibility for anything after they already admitted to the fault. they now messed up my truck even worse. after being here the entire day. I had to drive home unsafe with my truck with all kinds of dash lights and truck pulls so hard to the left it's hard to keep it on the road and i will now go to another facility for repairs and get with legal team on everything. Recently I had a blowout on 81 St. and pulled into a bank parking lot. I got out my spare and jack and began working on changing my tire. My jack was faulty and I was stuck. I didn't realize that a Tate Boys store was just across the street at 81st and Yale. But one of their employees saw me. Brian came across to me and changed my tire. He asked me to pull across the street so he could add air and tighten the lug nuts. He was a lifesaver and I really appreciated his consideration. read more
