The movers from Tate the Great did a great job. 5 guys and two trucks showed up on time and methodically broke down, packed and moved us out of one home and into another on the same day. They took great care of our belongings and protected the integrity of our home while moving items in and out. They worked very well together and put everything where it needed to go- often times remembering where it was previously without having to ask any questions. We moved into a house with lots of stairs and they never complained once- they had an attitude of service and positivity the whole time. Each one asked how the service was going and if we were happy with the work they were doing, made sure nothing was left behind and expressed great concern for customer satisfaction. We were extremely satisfied!!! These guys are great and we highly recommend them. The rates are very reasonable and it was very easy to set up a reservation. Here is the bad: they broke a light fixture off the ceiling in my house while moving my furniture. That was $500 worth of damage please see attached photos. They also damaged a $5000 painting which they hid in the back of the storage unit so I wouldn't see it and I found it today shoved in the back of my storage unit with no covering protection around it today. The art is detached from the frame. I attached a photo here. If you care about your belongings getting to your destination DAMAGE FREE. I suggest hiring a different company. I've never been more disappointed with a moving company in my life. First off, these movers were completely unprofessional. They took way too long for such a simple move -- it was only two apartments, one being a 1-bedroom and the other just a few boxes and 2 bedroom sets. What should've taken no more than 4-4.5 hours somehow dragged out to over 8 hours. They started at 9 AM and didn't leave until after 5 PM. But the worst part? They used my bathroom and left it filthy. Someone actually pooped in my toilet, used my personal Clorox wand, and still managed to leave visible stains behind. That's not only disgusting but completely disrespectful and unacceptable in someone's home. This entire experience was ridiculous from start to finish. They were slow, careless, and clearly had zero respect for my space. If you're considering using this company, don't waste your time or money -- I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. ******************UPDATE******************** I honestly don't even know where to start. The manager from Tate The Great Moving Company came by today to drop off a piece of glass from my outdoor table that was left on their moving truck. While here, he said he wanted to further discuss what happened during my move yesterday. During our conversation, he brought up my previous review and essentially tried to bargain with me to take it down. I told him that if anything, the company should consider refunding part of our payment due to how unprofessional and unpleasant the experience was. He said he'd have to speak with the owner, and while he did apologize numerous times for how the move went -- including confirming that one of the movers actually pooped in my toilet -- the entire situation was still unacceptable. He even said he could tell I "had sense and wasn't dumb," which was unnecessary and condescending. Shortly after, the owner, Thomas Crawford, called to apologize as well. I calmly went down the list of everything that happened -- the bathroom incident, the excessive amount of time it took, the movers disappearing for nearly two hours -- and simply asked for a partial refund or at least for the final charge to reflect the 4.5 hours the job should've taken instead of the 5 full hours I was billed for. Rather than taking accountability, he became combative and defensive. I told him that this was the same behavior I experienced with his manager Derek -- arguing and going back and forth before eventually apologizing and asking for continued business. When I used the slang "chy" during our call, he took offense and said, "please don't call me a child," as if I was being disrespectful, when that was not the case at all. Overall, this company showed a complete lack of professionalism and accountability from start to finish. The movers took far too long, disappeared for extended periods, and even left my home in an unsanitary condition. The follow-up from management and ownership only made things worse. After purchasing insurance and unfortunately incurring many, many damages to my property, their third-party insurance offered me $75. I was extended the opportunity to file an appeal of which they came back and offered me $100. Most insulting. The company charge me an additional fee to Go Back on another day to retrieve items they left and upon delivering those items they too were damaged In route! Start by saying me and my wife have used moving companies in the past and never encountered any problems what so ever. I choose this company because it was local to us and thought it would be better. By far this was not a good moving company for us and I would not recommend to anyone at all. If you choose this moving company understand that you are paying for their time and they should be working the whole time your paying them. A couple of the guys were playing with basketball during the move and in the street racing in our new community. Front door frame was damaged and some of the walls. Our bed collapsed on us in the middle of the night from the install. The main thing that really got my attention is while we where unpacking at our new home we starting finding that things were missing, even brand new things. That was an outrage for me that we paid a company to move our things and stuff just magically comes up missing. We've never had anything like this happen to us before but never again. I was with the mover the entire time at our old home while the movers were packing but I left for like ten minutes to find an ATM for tip money for the movers but now I wish I could take that tip money back. It may have been the movers I had but I was not happy at all with this company. If you choose this moving company be sure to stay with them the entire time, don't let them bring their personal vehicle, if they take a break with your things on their truck go with them especially if you have valuables. In August of 2024, I hired Tate the Great moving company to move me from Cartersville, Ga to Powder Springs, Ga. I stressed that I wanted all heavy items moved before anything else. They sent 4 guys with one packing at a very slow rated and not even bringing enough packing paper. Also, left dishes in dishwasher. After about 4 hours my garage was still full, my office was still intact, and they had broken the legs to one of my console tables. Once we got to the new house they broke the legs on one of my chairs, I found the clothing boxes were not pack full, my adjustable bed was not set up properly and it took me months to find the cords. After complaining to the ops manager Derek G and sending emails with no resolution ended up filing a moving claim only to come back with the company offering me $89 for less than stellar service and having to replace my broken items using more of my own money. That is unacceptable and I would definitely use caution when considering using this company as they say they are veteran own but did not take care of this veteran. read more

EDIT UPDATE: In response to the owners comment. The last minute change was to ask if they would quote on a second job in addition to the first. It was irrespective of the first. Accommodating false 'last minute' changes wasn't the issue they cancelled. Below is why. Paid a deposit with Tate the Great yesterday on the recommendation as a strategic partner for the self storage company I had hired. I had reached out today to see if they wanted to quote on a smaller additional move. He had said it was possible and would add it into the move I already had booked with them. In my conversation with Thomas I raised my concerns that he had spoken to UNITS Storage about the unit I had requested and not come to me directly. Instantly the second move was not available and could not be accomodated. 10 minutes later I get a call from UNITS storage saying they are pulling the container job and the move job. Tate's didn't even bother to call to cancel they would have been a no show. Both jobs were booked for today and tomorrow. I am beyond grateful for the service Tate the great and his team provided me! I was very concerned about my walls and floors being damaged because I purchased a townhouse. The movers had to take my fridge up a narrow stairway and move the washer/dry to the 3rd floor. It was hard work but they did it and didn't damage my home. When I booked our move, during the Covid-19 crisis,I was assured that the movers would take proper safety precautions including masks, gloves, frequent disinfection, and keeping their distance from us. They did none of these things, not even wearing masks. Additionally, though I didn't realize until after they'd left (with good tips, no less), they were sloppy with our furniture that required breakdown. We have several bookshelves, which they took apart and reassembled, but the shelves weren't assembled properly (the support pegs hanging out of their peg-holes), and several pegs were missing. I had to go back through and essentially reassemble the shelves myself. Also, our nice king-sized bed was reassembled loosely and part of it collapsed under our weight that night. The next day, while I was at our previous address doing final cleanup, I found a handful of bolting hardware from the bed just lying on the carpet in our old bedroom. I had to rebuild the bed properly myself, and it's now not as structurally sound as it used to be, making a lot of noise when we shift our weight. On top of that, they left several very noticeable scratches on the nice hardwood floors that I'm sure our landlord will hold us accountable for. The guys SEEMED to do an efficient job, and were friendly, but the sloppiness we discovered afterwards really made us regret hiring this company. UPDATE: The owner reached out and apologized, which was appreciated though it didn't change the material facts of our experience. No offer was made to compensate us for the problems or missing furniture hardware and I didn't push the issue because I just wanted to be done with the matter. read more

Dresser did get fixed but, it doesn't take away from it being damaged in the first place... I would refer them to friends but, don't know if I would I hire movers in general again. read more

I chose this company from a referral. I would definitely not recommend using their services. They damaged items and charged me for fake insurance that didn't cover the items to pad the bill. When I filed the "insurance claim" I got a "good faith" offer to release the company from liability that wouldn't cover any damages. I reported them to the BBB and they pretended that they would come to get 2 of the 5 items damaged to repair them and then stopped responding as soon as the time ran out for the BBB to appear as if they were trying to come to an agreement. Worst experience ever with a moving company. I emailed and called multiple times with no response to follow up. When I contacted the owner he was less than accommodating and acted as if he was too important to discuss referring me to the operations manager who admitted that he couldn't do anything without the owner's approval. All in all none of my damaged items were repaired or replaced, no compensation was given and I would definitely not recommend. read more

It was an awful move, the worst I ever have experienced. I am qualified to judge. In my 86 years I have moved numerous times. I hold an MBA (Michigan State) in Transportation Administration and have had substantial experience in in packing, storage, and movement of materials. My first comment about Tate the Great is that I would not hire him again even to carry my lunch bucket across the street. We have met others who feel the same way. We found this firm simply not trustworthy, and its crews not professional by any standards known to me. My wife and I moved from Acworth to Rome in December 2018. Owing to unexpected loss of the house we intended to buy, we had to spend three months in temporary housing. TTG stored our belongings in its private warehouse during that time, delivering these goods to the home we finally purchased in March 2019. Their condition was disheartening. Though we had attempted to oversee the packing in Acworth, the TTG crew brushed us aside and refused to allow us any meaningful supervision. Goods were packed hurriedly and poorly, were obviously mishandled in shipment and storage, with the result that wood surfaces were chipped and metal surfaces rusted. One wooden treasure, 38"X33"X1¾", was destroyed and irreparably broken apart into five pieces, bound in a bundle to fit into a carton. Of six expensive wardrobe cartons, five were crushed, along with their contents. Numerous other cartons were also crushed, showing little or no protection of the damaged items inside. One carton contained two expensive table lamps that were not ours. We reported this several times, but TTG refused to acknowledge the issue or to return these items to their rightful owner. Several small items never showed up in Rome, but the worst loss was a wooden box containing irreplaceable sterling silver tableware, some pieces of which had been inherited through several generations. Thomas Crawford [aka, Tate the Great] was notified of these discrepancies as they were uncovered but refused help of any kind and absolutely held himself aloof from any responsibility or accountability. Mr. Crawford would not allow any criticism, however well deserved, to stain his reputation. I can only conclude this account with the observation that TTG is unprofessional and of questionable character. read more

Posting this here because they removed my review from Google somehow. We moved on June 22nd; we hired this company to move our 3-bedroom plus a piano into a PODS container. The only "good job" they did was of turning an already stressful situation into a full on traumatic experience. I will detail our day chronologically below: - We scheduled our move a month in advance. We explicitly stated more than once in the email that we had three bedrooms worth of stuff and a heavy piano. - Our move window was scheduled for 8-10 am on the 22nd. At 10, one guy showed up. About an hour later another guy showed up but left as soon as a third guy came. So in total, we had two guys for our move when we explicitly stated we needed four (piano). They also weren't wearing matching shirts or anything (we used this company in one prior move and they were) so this added to their unprofessional vibe. - It was lightly raining during the move, and instead of getting boxes directly into their truck, they left them outside. Boxes were damaged before even getting to the container. - When it was still the single guy there, he informed us that the lift on the truck wasn't working and that he also didn't bring any ramps. In hindsight, we should have just asked him to leave right then. We explicitly stated in our email that there would be stairs (AND attached pictures). - Because they showed up completely unprepared, we ended up having to hire a different company last minute to move the piano. They did a fantastic job by the way (Fox Movers if anyone is interested in a real moving company). - They also did a bad job of wrapping furniture. Check out the couch in the second picture with its sad little single piece of wrap. That couch belonged to my partner's deceased grandmother; it is surely torn up by now. - After they got everything into their truck (on its way to the container) they asked us for some water; we would have gladly given them some but they didn't bring bottles and our apartment was obviously empty. So they disappeared for about an hour to get some water...I guess. - At this point we were trying to be positive and assumed that the issues were caused by management and the guys couldn't really be blamed until... - 6 long hours later they finally got the container packed and left. We went out to make sure there was enough space for the piano to be moved in and found the most disorganized and unprofessional pack I have ever seen in my life (pictures attached). We were on such a tight timeline we couldn't repack it completely and the Fox guys that came the next day said they were sure everything would be broken after it ships. Thanks! - The icing on the cake is that after we paid and tipped, they had the audacity to call us later, claim they didn't charge us the correct price, and ask for more money. - After our cross country move, we opened up our container and discovered that they had also stolen our TV. The men that were sent did not finish setting me up at my new home. They left when they wanted to without consulting me whether I was satisfied. They also demolished my living room coffee table that was made of partially curved glass and is irreplaceable. When I opened the kitchen boxes, I discovered a number of dishes and bowls from my good china were broken into pieces. The boxes were marked "fragile" but looked to have been roughly handled. There were other things I was unhappy with. When I called the company office and talked to the company manager, he told me that I would have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to sort things out. I have moved 7 times in my life and have never had this bad of a move. I would never recommend this moving company to anyone. If I could give them a negative star rating. I would. They are very efficient movers that really go the extra mile. To be honest, they made moving a simple process. I felt somewhat like a princess as I sat and sipped my Starbucks, while the team of movers loaded the truck in an organized military fashion that even the toughest drill sergeants would be impressed. They arrived promptly on time, and one of the gentlemen instructed me to sit on down and sip my tea while they work their magic (sits down happily). They wrapped my kitchen items, had boxes with rails to hang my clothes, and unpacked my new place in no time. This is not a moving company that plays games and moves slow to drive up the cost given that they work on a per hour basis. Tate the Great was precise and efficient. I was so pleased with their work that I referred my sister and another friend. They too, were exceptionally pleased with the stellar degree of professionalism of this company. I gave my deposit, they called to confirm time, showed up when they said, explained all the paperwork ahead of time, had 4 intelligent and strong men with positive attitudes who carefully wrapped and moved everything at a very fast pace then set everything up and were gone. I had an AMAZING experience with Tate the Great Moving services. I used them for packing and moving. I provided all of my packing materials and hired the staff for packing. They packed my materials with care and labeled all boxes appropriately. I then used them for moving from Acworth, GA to Atlanta, GA. The guys handled all of my items with great care and treated them like they were their own. They packed the truck very meticulously and ensured all of my items were safe during transport. Before this move, I moved from North Carolina to Acworth, GA. The movers I used then damaged a lot of my items. Not only did Tate's crew take extra special care of my damaged items, they also made recommendations for how I could have them repaired and in some cases they made the small repairs for me. Dexter, Will, and Shaheed were GOD sent!! I could not have asked for a better crew and I told Tate that I want the same three guys the next time I move. There is no way another moving company could have packed my stuff so perfectly in storage (I had a ton of stuff and a TINY space, but they have experience in knowing how to properly load and pack). They were super professional, and they worked together so well that it seemed like they had been working as a team for years. I'm telling you - these guys are PROFESSIONALS. My last moving company damaged some of my items (which I know happens), but my Tate the Great guys in this move wrapped all of my stuff and worked carefully and quickly to make sure my items were taken care of. We were pleased with our office move, primarily file cabinets and file boxes. Before our move Mr. Crawford did a preliminary walk through and gave us a very competitive quote. We said yes and signed a contract for the move on the same day. He confirmed the move date and time and made the effort to make a one week before and day before call to confirm that they would be ready for work on our move date. The Tate Team arrived 20 minutes early for the appointed 8am start time. The three man team introduced themselves and began prepping for loading the truck. They were very professional in providing extra care with our files and boxes, all had critical confidential items, and the movers shrink wrapped each file cabinet and box to ensure nothing was lost. When they completed loading they walked through the space with us to ensure we had all items and then when we arrived at the new location, they unloaded, double checked the empty truck and walked the new space with our staff to ensure that we had all items off the truck. Thomas and the Team did an amazing job! Dexter and the guys (Mike, The Shah William, Sam, and Eddie) showed up on time in Inman Park, 2 stops needed, 3 floors later, everything was on the trucks. I have no idea how these Guys lifted the things they did with such ease and speed as I remember it taking 4 guys to get in but only 2 of them to get it back out! Super friendly, super fun, and super efficient. They shrink wrapped and cushioned everything that needed to be which meant that in two whole trucks not one thing was broken. The delivery and unloading went just as smooth with the extra complication that everything needed to be divided between three separate dwellings, all with 2nd floors! PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, PROMPT, FRIENDLY AND EXTREMELY EFFICIENT! I cannot say enough about my experience with Tate the Great! I needed to move--already an unpleasant prospect--and was planning to have my sons do all of the heavy lifting, but one of them ended up with an injury, so I needed to hire someone FAST (I was looking for packers/movers). The son I mentioned before called around, and after getting similar price quotes from several businesses, he recommended calling Tate the Great because the guy who answered the phone was the friendliest of anyone he'd spoken to. So, I called and spoke to Thomas, who was was, indeed,friendly; but he also knew what he was taking about. He didn't promise anything he couldn't deliver, and gave me a highly accurate estimate of how long the job would take if the information I'd given him about what I had was accurate. He took a nominal deposit and told me that his crew would arrive the next morning between 8 and 9am. Sure enough, Shahid (the foreman) called me at 7:45 the next morning and said he'd be at my place shortly. He and his crew showed up right on time with a huge truck, and they introduced themselves with handshakes and smiles. We'd already gotten and assembled boxes because we originally planned to move ourselves, so the guys just started packing up the kitchen. I'd neglected to get packing paper, but I had a huge amount of plastic grocery bags I'd not yet taken for recycling, so they used the bags, which worked very well, and they had such great attitudes about it. They are not only professional, they improvise in less-than-perfect circumstances. The day turned from cool, to hot and sunny, and, though they were sweating buckets, they kept a great pace and even finished early. Great experience. I hired a three man team and had two stops, an apartment and a storage unit. Once they arrived, they moved very quickly and worked closely as a team. Good communication with each other and me throughout the day. I expected the move to take about 6 hours. However, they worked so efficiently that we were done in 4 and a half. Excellent! read more
