Very, very cool high school that dates back to the Underground Railroad AND offers tours!!! Now back to the BBQ. You cannot go wrong here with any of these choices BUT I am partial to the loaded potato, the Texas Twinkies, and ANY and I do mean ANY of the meats, they are all worth a try. The people working here are such wonderful people from this same small community and one small family. They have had so much business they said they have finally had to hire their first employee!!! Yay!!! if you love BBQ, road trips and history give them and the town a visit. It's worth a trip!!!

Spent over $70 on 2 Sliced Brisket, a Brisket Sandwich and Brisket plate, with mac and cheese, a loaded potato, and a sweet tea... except the sweet tea pulled a Houdini and never appeared or maybe it got raptured before pickup because it never arrived. The sliced brisket portions were so small I thought they accidentally packed the sample platter or maybe the rest was still smoking in the back. For $14.95, don't expect "half-pound brisket". The brisket edges actually tasted pretty good, but the middle tasted like roast beef that once saw a picture of a smoker online. The smoked mac and cheese contributed absolutely nothing to society -- no smoke, barely any cheese, just hot disappointment in a cup. Meanwhile, the loaded baked potato showed up ready to save the franchise. When we called about the issues and asked for the food difference or a refund, we were told this is just "how it's supposed to be" and they can't refund food because they "can't resell it." Good news: I don't think anyone was trying to buy it a second time anyway. Really wanted this place to be great, but this carryout experience got cooked harder than the brisket

Rachel A waited on us and took time to find out what was gluten free for me. She was efficient, friendly, and got everything right! We got the homemade chips appetizer. One of the best things I've tried. Hubs got a burger and mac & cheese that he said was wonderful. I got the pulled pork with slaw and corn pudding. Everything was so good. We drive this route often and need to make this a regular stop.

We were seated in the enclosed front patio area which had a really comfortable atmosphere. Jessica was our server and she was pleasant, efficient, and kept everything moving smoothly even as the dinner rush picked up. I ordered the combo platter with sliced brisket and a quarter smoked chicken. I went with the leg quarter since I'm a dark meat fan, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was juicy, tender, and literally falling off the bone. The brisket was thick sliced with a beautiful bark, a slight smoke ring, and was so fork tender it just fell apart. Easily the highlight of the meal. The platter came with two sides and homemade cornbread. The cornbread was light, delicate, slightly sweet, and very good. For sides I chose the grilled green beans and house smashed potatoes. The green beans were actually grilled and tossed with mushrooms and onions which gave them great flavor, and the smashed potatoes were solid too. Great food, friendly service, and definitely a spot I'd drive back to again.

My pic is me really saving the Mac hahaha I should've took a picture sooner but alas. The pulled pork I dipped into their spicy bbq sauce and that could've been more flavorful because it wasn't that spicy to me but still good! Thank you guys!

I have written reviews on a number of other platforms. I published a list of BBQ places I had…read morereviewed. A guy who turned out to be Adam the owner of Lucky Nickel BBQ saw the list and kind of called me out and said I hadn't had his yet. All I could think was who is this guy to call me out. So I decided today I was going to make the hour drive to Washington Courthouse to check his food trailer out. I arrived a little early so that I could take the time to talk with Adam and Tara the owners. They have been doing this for around a year now. They do everything homemade. The coleslaw is made with a chopped salad and a really nice dressing that is a little on the sweet side, I could definitely eaten more of it. I ordered a sampler of the meats. Adam is using Oak to smoke his meats. The chicken had a great flavor to it and was nice and moist. The pulled pork was just as moist and tasty. On the brisket, OMG, the flavor and moistness was over the top. I had put some of the sauce they had from D.B. Yummers on it, okay, it was super flavorful. And then there are the ribs, let's just say right of the gate they were fall off the bone and when you put some sweet and spicy sauce on them. You don't get much better. To sum it all up, these guys are Rocking some BBQ. Hopefully they will test the Columbus market. Otherwise I may be doing a little more driving in the future.
