The Sampler Platter. Check out those taters!
    Ashleigh W.

This place is off the beaten path, but you MUST stop here! It's definitely worth going out of your way. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the decor! It's all good at The Smoking Pig! My husband and I split the sampler platter, which many have commented on, and it was more than enough food for the two of us. Yes, the sides could be a tad larger, but overall, as stated, it's plenty of food combined. The brisket, pulled chicken, and wings were all fantastic, but our absolute favorite was the pulled pork. SO yummy! The platter also comes with these HUGE, amazing french fries that are to die for! There is a good variety of sauces to choose from-something for everyone's liking-and they have a children's menu. Domestic beers are $2.00-crazy, right?-and cold. Don't miss out on a visit to this place! It won't disappoint.

2 Sample Platters. You. Are. Welcome.

With out a doubt, the Sample Platter is just delectable. The meats simply fall off the bone or melt in your mouth. Highly recommended. I brought Mike for his first visit and he is in Smokin' Pig heaven!! He has insisted this is his all New FAVORITE place to eat. (Yummy)

A better shot of the menu.

So I've finally gotten a chance to make it around to The Smoking Pig.. Albeit just for carry out but I'm sure I'll go for a dinner sit down sometime soon. First off the decor is very country... and very clean and crisp. A lot of antiques hanging around and even an antique store in one of the buildings. I took a look around and will have to come back and check out some things I might want to buy to decorate my own place. There are two main buildings. One is the kitchen building which has a few seats inside and is where you'll order your food. The other is the store area with more seating. There is also plenty of other seating outside. The menu is fairly short but sweet. It doesn't get too complicated with things and gives you exactly what you want in a country bbq joint. I got the Korean Kickin Chicken with the Pig Tails. The pig tails were kinda of like a wide short curly fry, they were fantastic. The sandwich was fantastic. Spicy bbq charred just right and flavored up. All sitting on a pretzel bun. Those two items filled me up!! Pendleton County is littered with failed restaurants.. I'm really hoping that this one survives. It's a good location for many people in the county and it's priced very well. I can't wait to go in and sit down to a rack of ribs sometime soon!!

This place is really neat! It has a great selection for your garden (flowers, veg. & fruit) the vintage store has so many great gifts and such. The food was awesome. I absolutely love this place even the decor fits to a tee. New reason to take the scenic route to Lexington from Cincinnati! Wish it was closer.

Great fall off the bone ribs maybe best I've ever had! Sides were tasty also. We enjoyed shopping the antiques also. We will be back and bring family and friends.

I wish I could give this a 3.5. The Decor of this place is phenomenal and I can't wait to go back when it's not raining and sit out on the patio. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the food was pretty hit or miss. By the way our server was awesome too before I forget. OK so the food - the frog legs were really juicy but they were extremely spicy. I asked my server how hot the Cajun were and she said not hot at all. That's not true, I couldn't even eat them they were so hot. The one by it I did it was pretty juicy, it's just way too much heat. I get that there Cajun and I should've assumed that but because I asked I figured they weren't. So the good things that we had - the pulled pork sandwich was awesome. The fried pickles were great, and so was the corn pudding. That corn pudding with hands-down the best thing we ate. The brisket was OK. I loved the chart on the outside but it was pretty dry. I'm used to brisket from like waltz or Eli's, and this was definitely not like that. This could be how they intended to cook it, it just wasn't moist enough for me. I did not like the mac & cheese at all, and nobody at my table would eat it. Really excited to try the peach cheesecake in a jar, but the table in front of us got the last one so I didn't get to try dessert. Hopefully next time. I think you should definitely go and check this place out, will for sure go down and try It again even though it's about 40 minutes south. Next time I want to try the ribs because the table next to us had them and they looked awesome

Everyone else was happy with their meal: pulled pork sandwich with mashed potatoes, kids chicken tenders, low country shrimp deviled egg salad, meatloaf sandwich with peanut cole slaw and grilled cheese & tomato soup. We also had desserts. We tried the apple cobbler and bourbon bread pudding. The bread pudding was AWESOME! The cobbler was really just baked apples with ice cream and some crumbles. Not really a cobbler, but it was tasty. We ordered coffee during dessert and [fair warning] it was instant coffee. The place is very casual. We overdressed because I thought it would be nicer. Casual isn't bad, just not what I expected. Meals are served on cardboard, brown paper and metal trays. I called twice to make a reservation. No one answered. I left messages both times and did not receive a call back. I called another time and got a person and was able to make a reservation, although I now know it was not needed. There was plenty of seating available. The server was VERY NICE and personable and attentive. The kitchen was slow, however. It is possible she was the only person working since we did not see anyone else. 3 of us ordered the low country shrimp and deviled egg salad but all the hot food came out first. Our server apologized for the missing salads and said she'd be right back. It was a good amount of time before she came back and we had the impression she was making them herself. While the food was delicious and our server was very nice, we probably won't go back. It was worth the drive (we live in NKy) to go once, but not to go again.

When we pulled up, the outside looked a little quiet and honestly the whole town felt kind of abandoned. But the second you open the door -- totally different story. The place was full of life: music playing, kind faces everywhere, and the smell of amazing food. We started with deviled eggs for an appetizer. My dad ordered the ribs with carrot salad, coleslaw, and baked beans. I got the pulled pork with greens, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes. The food was out of this world. The ribs? They understood the assignment and got extra credit. The meat literally fell right off the bone & perfectly seasoned. I definitely stole a few from my dad's plate. The pulled pork was incredible too -- super tender with no gristle, which I loved. And the sides... oh my gosh. My personal favorites were the mac & cheese, greens, and the baked beans. We finished with the apple crisp for dessert -- so good and easily enough for two people. And the best part? Everything is made fresh. We don't live in the area, but I already can't wait to go back.

I got a tray with a pulled pork sandwich, cowboy beans, and coleslaw. The pork was very flavorful with just enough smoke for my tastes, and it went well with the barbecue sauce it came with. I was also impressed with the cowboy beans. Typically, I do not care for beans cooked with beef, but these had a good balance between the two. It also had different varieties of beans that I appreciated. It was savory and filled me up. Lastly, the coleslaw was also good but nothing to write home about. My lunch left me satisfied without being stuffed, which is often an issue I have with barbecue. The only complaint I could see with this meal is portion sizes. While it was a comfortable serving size for myself, I could see others finding the amount of meat given too little for their money and stomachs. Even with the sides, I considered this meal to be lighter than most barbecue I have had. After this experience, I cannot wait for a chance to have a meal at the actual restaurant.

I ordered the brisket grilled cheese with a side of mac and cheese and a can of Dr Pepper. They offered ice to go along with the cans if you wanted it. The total came to 19 and some change with tax. The grilled cheese was heavenly, it was so meaty, rich and filling. The brisket was so buttery - it melts in your mouth literally crumbling. The BBQ sauce it was served with was a tad sweet but more on the vinegar side for me. I was not a fan of the mac and cheese which is why this is rated 4 stars - the cheese sauce just wasn't a good texture to me and I am a huge texture person, but the noodles were cooked and seasoned well. The inside was clean and your normal BBQ joint setup - The outside has fans to help accommodate the heat.
