"THE DIRTY BLOND SHOULDER LENGTH HAIR GUY" I rent from tates all the time. Everyone is very polite and professional. I feel tates is one of the best and most convenient places to rent from. Unfortunately today I had to rent from a different location and had the displeasure of meeting one of the most unprofessional rude employees I have ever encountered at the Fairview location. When I arrived to the store I thought I was in the correct location. Come to find out I was at the wrong location. This employee informed me that I was at the wrong location in the most rude way. I asked where the correct tates was located that I needed to be at and he said "I don't know, just google it". I told him "well there are multiple other locations" he just sat there and glared at me. He took extra effort to make me feel stupid for being at the wrong location. He was extremely condescending, was almost literally yelling at me, and scowling his eyebrows. I'm not sure why he's so angery but either way I don't feel that any of your personal stuff should show at work when you're in the customer service world. And if you see the guy with shoulder length dirty blonde hair with glasses I suggest you avoid him. Thank you Tates rents for having 99% awesome staff. This guy does not reflect who you guys are and I feel he is an anchor to your company. He is holding you guys back from perfection. After reading some of the other comments other people have had bad experiences due to the shoulder length dirty blonde hair guy. I suggest the owner Haley put him on an action plan until he fixes his attitude, or he will surely lose the company valued customers. I pray the owner takes this very seriously because I know I left this location feeling degraded and I worry about the next costumers he's going to be helping. I rented four heaters there . One of the four worked . Wasted about a 1k and got nothing done . Taking broken junk back and fourth all day . Wasted my whole week and still haven't gotten a job done that shoulda taken a few hours. No refund .... Got a coupon. 20% off .... So I can try to rent more broken junk I guess . read more

This company, like many other, require a lot of personal information in order to rent any equipment to you. I was very uncomfortable with this and not willing to allow them to scan my drivers license with there software and refused to do so. To add insult to injury, there "too bad for you" response was offensive to me as a responsible consumer. It seems they want my personal information more than my business. Be careful who you give your personal information to in this age of digital information and data-hacking. read more

I only gave a rating of two because I'm super disappointed at how people can take such advantage of others. I called the Broadway location inquiring about banquets table rentals - they told me it was like $40 for 4 days.... But they only had one. So I called the Fairview location and gave the same information - my total was going to be over $200. I confirmed what the Broadway guy gave me and the Fairview location confirmed - this was not my "Total total" - this was per table. So I politely said ok let me line up my help and I'll get back to you. In the meantime I called Event Rent and got the same order for a grand total of $71. How can you be charging almost quadruple of others? That is insane!! All I can say people is - get more than one quote - it may just save you a few dollars. read more

Came to Tates for the first time last month to rent a trailer. I called ahead to make sure it was available and said I would be right over and I showed up in within 15 minutes. They clearly have a wide variety of things to rent and a huge lot to store everything. Awesome! I had driven by this place about 1000 times so when needed a trailer I knew exactly where to go. As soon as I walked up to the counter a male employee was standing there on his phone texting and he looked up at me and raised his eyebrows as if to say, "Hi." I said, "I think I just spoke to you on the phone about the trailer rental." He immediately said, "Yeah, I don't think we have any left." I stayed calm and reminded him that he just told me on the phone that he said there were a couple available. I said, "Well, are you going to check." He turns and walks out of the office and comes back and says, "We got one." The entire time he was typing in my info he was rude and condescending as if he had a doctorate in trailers and I knew nothing. I kept my mouth shut (although I clearly knew he was on an ego trip). Extremely arrogant guy. I almost just walked out but needed the trailer. When I returned the trailer I had the unfortunate opportunity to interact with him again and he tried to charge me for being late. I pointed out where it said my return time and that I was not late. He did not apologize for being wrong. He was silent and simply printed my receipt and said, "Here ya go." What an entirely awkward and unpleasant experience it was renting from this place. read more

I've rented the 14 foot dump trailer 3 times from the broadway location. Never gave me any trouble and they were awesome. I went into the Fairview location and asked after the same trailer. The young dirty blonde haired guy with a unkept mustache said I can't rent it to you. So I said oh you don't have one? He said no you have a 1500 so I can't rent it to you. I told him nicely well I've done the same one at broadway several times what had changed. He didn't say anything except what's your name? So I gave it to him thinking ok maybe he's going to let me rent it. After a minute or two he looks at me with a cocky little smirk and says to me in front of the other 3 tates employees and two other customers. Oh I'm looking at your account right now and I show you've never rented it from us. I kindly told Him I don't know why your system says that cause I have and I'm not here to argue with you. I just want to rent a trailer so if you aren't going to rent it to me I will go elsewhere. He responded with I can't rent it to you and we have never rented it to you. Save yourself some trouble and go to Pro Rentals. They rent you whatever you want. They are cheaper. Have customer service and they don't call you a liar and try to humiliate you in front of other customers and employees. Little did he know he was making a fool of himself by acting that way. I wrote this review cause customer service at this location is almost nonexistent. I rented a humidifier two days ago and was shocked when I got amazing service for the first time there from a different gentleman. But regardless I only go to tates when I have to. read more

Fast, Friendly & Economical! I needed to rent a forklift for just an hour or 2. I called Tate's to reserve a forklift & discovered they had 1 available today! 45 minutes later, the forklift was delivered. The total cost for a 2-hour rental, including delivery & pick up, was only $217. I was expecting to pay much more (for a 4 hour rental.) I was pleasantly surprised that their minimum rental was 2 hours. Tony & the guys are awesome! I'm new to Boise & I'm happy to say I now know where to go for equipment rental. Buyer beware. Shop before you rent anything at Tates. United Rentals is 40% less than Tate's and their equipment is much newer, especially mini skid steers. One week rental $900 - at United Rentals $415. This company is by far the most expensive in the Treasure Valley. Their equipment is old. This place is a rip off. read more

I spent 20 minutes going back and forth on Fairview during rush hour traffic trying to find this business. Turns out they moved and didn't bother to update their website. When I walked in and pointed out the error on their website, they argued with me and told me it's my fault because I have an iPhone. (Yeah, seriously.) So, horrible customer service on that part. Their address on this Yelp listing is wrong, and it's wrong on the equipment they rent out. (But that's only because I have an iPhone.) The good news is the ozone machine I rented was effective and the rental process was straightforward. I wouldn't jump at the chance to rent from them again because I've gotten a glimpse of their customer service and I shudder to think how a customer would be treated if something went wrong with a rental. read more

Had a question about being able to rent an item. Drove all the way to their store for them to tell me I couldn't. Seemed happy to be able to not rent to me. Didn't offer any other solutions and had quite an attitude. My advice is try a different store. At least one employee has an attitude problem. Didn't offer any alternatives. Went to Tate's Rents, i was inquiring about renting a piece of equipment that would bury perimeter wire for a dog fence. I had seen videos online of these types of machines that are very simple, 2 wheeled, self propelled units. Tate's said they had one and loaded it in my car. I asked if they had instructions or could they show me how to operated the unit. I was told there was videos online that would show how to operate. it was close to closing & I was planning on renting for 24hrs so I figured if any problems I could take care of it in the morning. I got home and realized it was not even close to what i needed. What they had given me was a trench digger(4"widex4"deep). I took it back at 7am the next day and was told that they couldn't help me and that was all they had. When i rented it they scanned my debit card but i never signed or gave my pin. They charged my card full price anyways. I never even took the thing out of my car. read more

Rented an 8 foot table and 8 chairs for Thanksgiving. I went to pick it up and it wouldn't fit in my SUV. They cheerfully and promptly delivered it to my house at no extra charge! Great customer service! read more

Great bunch of guys! They were very accommodating. I needed an item from another of their locations in Caldwell. They had the piece of equipment at my doorstep in about hour and half! I was thinking next day or two, but they really showed some hustle. I could have called another company and maybe paid a little less, but they have always taken good care of me over the years. Super new location on Fairview too! read more
