Called this tattoo shop to see if they were taking walk ins on a Wednesday afternoon - The man over the phone said come on in! The shop is located on a sketchy street but once upstairs inside of the shop it is spacious and clean. I was lucky enough to find street parking around the corner. This is a cash only establishment and their is an ATM outside if you need to withdraw. My friend and I were getting small tattoos on our wrist and the prices were kind of steep - granted we did just walk in and we are in downtown Baltimore, so kind of expected.... When Danny (tattoo artist ) was about to start, a piercing appointment came in so he got that done right away. His technique was good, he was very clean, using new needles and gloves - it took less then ten minutes for two of my mini tattoos. I was charged $80. My friend was charged $60 for her one cross tattoo. Danny was great and had good customer service but I probably would not come back for the prices. read more

I went to get my septum pierced. Everything was really great up until it was over. The nose ring fell out while I was there! I asked them to put it back in and they did no problem. They don't accept card but kindly directed me to an ATM where I got out cash. The nose ring fell out again while i was just using the ATM. I went back after getting the cash and they told me to stop messing with it, which would have been fine if I was, but as a brand new piercing I couldn't bear to touch it. Here's where it gets a little sketchy... I ask how much the piercing it. He says "20..." I hand him the twenty and I watch his eyes go to my bag where he can see I have another twenty. Then he goes "...one. And I don't have change." So I paid FORTY dollars for a "twenty one dollar" piercing (though I'm convinced it was only twenty) and on my way home it fell out again. The whole "twenty.... one" thing left a bad taste in my mouth so I didn't want to go back. Obviously, the hole closed that day. I wrongly paid forty dollars for a piercing I didn't even have for a whole 3 hours. Would not go back. read more

Such a good experience - I got my nostril pierced at a different place in Joppa the same day and immediately called and this place took me in, removed my botched piercing, made me feel comfortable and welcome & respected. Also re-did my piercing in the correct spot. Rampage is super knowledgeable on all piercings and I would recommend her to anyone. Isn't the safest street but can't judge a book by the cover this place was great. read more

My friend and I stopped in about 3 weeks ago on a Wednesday to get some piercings done and it was such a great experience!! I have been meaning to make this review but wanted to wait until all my piercings healed. I had my nipples (2nd time having it done, 1st time was done somewhere else) and belly button done and my friend had her Christina done for a GREAT price! Unbeatable price! He made us feel very comfortable and it was quick and easy. To be completely honest, the next day my nipples felt GOOD like literally bringing me to near orgasm good they had some fire music playing on the aux and everything. Would love to go back and currently thinking of an excuse to get something else done! read more

This is Downtown Baltimore! This is a historic tattoo shop. The shop is up a really cool staircase. Very clean, very friendly environment. There is plenty of flash on the wall, but I prefer the custom work of Matt Lauter. Just tell him your idea, he will draw it. I've had lots of work done by Matt, and am looking forward to my next piece. They also have excellent piercing. My wife got pierced & tattooed the same day. One step into Tattoo Charlie's can harken you back to a time when sailors would walk up from the harbor for some fresh ink. This place and Danny were great I called right before they closed and Danny stayed open to wait for us. I went with a friend and I got my nose pierced I was a little nervous (1st time) he was cool. It literally took 5 secs and it did not hurt. My friend got her lip pierced she said the same thing. We will be back for tattoos later this summer. Also the price was the best around. read more

I got my septum and nipple pierced at Tattoo Charlie's today and was super impressed with the whole experience. The front desk guy was super nice and friendly as was my piercer. My piercer made me feel comfortable with the whole process, was patient with answering my questions, and kept me laughing with his jokes. Not an easy feat while you're shoving a needle through me! :) I took advantage of their buy one piercing get one free deal which they're doing every day in October (2017) and every Wednesday the rest of the year if I'm not mistaken. Without that deal the septum piercing would have cost $50 and the nipple piercing would have been $45 but I only paid $50 for both plus tip. Just be aware that the BOGO deal is not compatible with the groupon they currently have available so you'll have to pick one or the other. I highly recommend them, great experience! read more

I have MANY tattoos and this by far is the worst one I have ever received. The ink according to another artist I went to spread from it possibly being done "too deep" and now this artist has to try and fix it for me which isn't going to be easy since it is several butterflies and each one of them now have a grey shading around all of them...go some where else!!! Worst 232.00 ever spent. I have had 2 sittings and have 1 more left to take care of the "blow out" caused by the artist going too deep. Solution, put colored shading around "blow out" around all butterflies and putting more color around whole tattoo. Again..DO NOT go here! read more

What a great experience! What this place lacks in appearance it makes up for with excellent work. My boyfriend and I were visiting the area and stopped in to check it out armed with a few ideas. Scott, the sole artist in the shop, patiently listened to what we wanted, drew them out beautifully, and executed he tattoos with a steady hand and a great eye for colors. I had my tattoo idea drawn in black and white, and he helped me decide on the best colors. I took his advice and it came out great! Reasonably priced too. Went in to get a tragus piercing and the guy who did it messed it up so bad that I had to take it out that same night. It was coming out of the side of my ear, nowhere near where he put the dot indicating where he'd put it. I'm also fairly certain I was scammed, as I bought a groupon which promised that the service would be 45% off and then was still charged 52 dollars for the piercing. Unless they're charging 75 dollars for a tragus piercing, I'm assuming I was still charged full price if not more for a piercing I had to remove THAT NIGHT due to how simply wrong it was. If I could attach a picture I would, it was laughable. Won't be going back. read more

I took a belly piercing that I got a year ago. I felt like it closed up so I stopped into Charlie's a couple hours before work to see what was going on. Rampage was a godsend. She quickly checked out my stomach and set me up with a new belly ring at a low price. Since it was Wednesday, BoGo. I asked about if the special was for nipple piercings as well. She hooked me up! For a nice deal she sent me on my way with a new set of nip piercings. They are awesome. She was very helpful and fast! The needle didn't hurt. A simple tattoo made of only connecting lines has a alot ton of errors including a line that is barely visible. I understand when a client is squirming but even remaining very still and still getting an incredibly subpar result makes me want to never return. The price was too high for such bad work and these great reviews are misleading. Please re-consider when coming here and go somewhere else. read more

I had the worst experience here at Tattoo Charlie's and would not come here again. I discovered this place through groupon and I spoke to the owner, who was extremely friendly and accommodating. He recommended me the "buy one get on free piercing deal," which is essentially the same thing as buying a groupon deal and I could go in either on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. The only thing I had to do was call in to ensure the piercer was working that day. I would first like to address that as soon as I walked through the door, I got shushed by one of the male employees with short brown curly hair because of his sleeping baby...I respect him as a parent and his newborn child, but I just would like to say how it was extremely unprofessional to allow a newborn to be in such an unhealthy environment. I would at least hope they have a room where his daughter can rest well in and can be separated from their work. I have read many reviews about Rampage and she seemed friendly. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that it wasn't her day when I went in because I did not feel any of that. I felt a lot of negativity in the atmosphere after being shushed when I walked in. I understand if she has a specific day (Wednesday) for the "buy one get one free" deal, but if there was a miscommunication between the owner and her such as the one we had, then it would only be fair to at least honor the offer or make an exception just once for a new customer (if she wants customer satisfaction). What I did not understand was, even if she did not honor the deal and I came back on a Wednesday, she would still be making the same amount! She refused to honor that offer, but offered me a deal that was only an extra $5. I agreed to paying extra, but when I wanted to confirm if she accepts debit/credit, she gave me a hard time for my choice of payment... With the atmosphere already being intense, I felt even more uncomfortable and decided to change my mind. Meanwhile, she went into the backroom to make a copy of my license and I quickly asked the male employee to pass along the message so she does not have to do any unnecessary work. Instead, he just asked me to wait while I was already refrained from attempting to get her attention because of their sleeping baby... When she came out and I told her, she gave me another hard time and said "Really? You made me do all that and you're going to change your mind?" Wow. I was extremely appalled for the constant blaming, which is one of the many reasons for why I changed my mind. I never wanted my experience to have happened the way it did at Tattoo Charlie, but if it wasn't meant to be, then it wasn't meant to be. Luckily, my other friend, who was interested in getting piercings from her, could not make it to the shop with me. I hope she understands that she just lost two potential customers and possibly more now after my encounter. For the future customers, I wish them the best of luck. read more
