Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it was packed! We were told the wait would be about 40 minutes but decided to check the bar instead. There was one seat open and so my friend and I kind of shared the space until people next to us left. For brunch, they have a 2-for-1 special on brunch drinks until 3 PM and we arrived just before it finished and both got the blood orange mimosa which was delicious. We also ordered their short rib benedict which was good and their Belgium fries which I loved. They actually have 3 different options for fries. Both the drinks and the food came pretty quickly especially considering how packed they were. For the 2-for-1 drinks, you only have to get the initial order in before 3 pm and they give you a token for your second drink that can be used even if time has passed. We got the white sangria and the bellini for our second round and I really like the sangria. They do have TVs up by the bar and the place is pretty noisy but awesome food and quick service. read more

The service was okay. Our waiter was attentive and checked back in on the table. We received our bill and there were some discrepancies on our drinks. They charged us for Tito's in our martinis although none of us requested it. Our group shared some appetizers and they were okay. We went to order drinks at the bar and two people got up so we elected to sit there. After more time that I typically like, we were finally address by the bartender. I ordered a strawberry mule and my husband got the Bloody Mary. Mule was decent and the bloody was actually really good. It's 2-for-1 before 3pm. For food we ordered the cauliflower bites which were Booooooomb, the Benedict tres with tobacco sriracha, and the white trash hash. Cauliflower bites had a cornmeal covering with a decently spicy Buffalo and a cream blue cheese sauce. Not dressing, sauce. *drool*. The Benedict tres and hash were a bit disappointing honestly. For the Benny, I was expecting more of a pulled pork textured ham, not slices. Sliced ham is not nearly as good as ham steak or grizzled pork on a Benny. The hash was weird. Had some cheese on it? But really no flavor. It's hard to explain. The real ish: we sat close to the end near the entrance. On the corner, 2 on each side, were either friends or regulars. One specifically, sitting right next to my husband had every single employee over talking to her at one point or another. The manager, while talking to her for 10-15 minutes, help putting his hand on the back of my husband's chair and touching him. My husband, our son, and I went to the Tavern for the first time today. We were so impressed by the exceptional service we received that I decided to write a review. In particular, Drew, the manager on duty, was so friendly and attentive!! We enjoyed our conversations with him, and he checked on us several times throughout the meal. Our server, Emma B, was awesome as well. I can't remember the last time we have had this level of impeccable service! Hats off to Drew, Emma and the entire wait staff for great customer service. Tavern is so consistently good that I have to bump them up to 5 stars. My latest visit was for their brunch since their 2-for-1 drink options are too enticing. There is a reason why Tavern is listed among the best brunch places in Nashville. Their food is tasty and not the run of the mill brunch options. Tavern is definitely my favorite of the M street concepts (Virago, Whiskey Kitchen, etc.) I got their red sangria for both of my brunch drinks and my friend got the peach bellini both times as well. I got the Benedict Uno which has short rib and poached eggs on an English muffin with a Tabasco hollandaise. I wasn't sure if I would like the hollandaise so I ordered it on the side. I actually really loved the sauce but it was so rice that I am glad it was on the side. The short rib was tasty albeit just a tad dry but the hollandaise fixed that. My friend got the Benedict Dos. This has smoked salmon and poached eggs on an English muffin with a caper hollandaise. This was so yummy. I had a bite of hers and then I wanted more. I got to give a shoutout to our server, Tim. Good beer selection; I enjoyed the Bearded Iris IPA Cons: fish tacos were just okay, wish they were grilled and not fried. The taco shells were over cooked and hard to eat. Short rib tacos also just okay- really tasty sauce but meat was over cooked. Mahi sandwich was really over cooked and I wasn't a big fan of the homemade chips. The worst part was my mom got sick while we were still there. Her stomach did not do well with the fish sand and fries. Verdict: The whole is greater than the sum of its part. Good food, great drinks, fantastic service, despite how busy it was. Wifey and I decided to stop by for brunch/lunch on a Saturday, and, let me tell you, it's packed. 1.5 hour wait for a table for 2. Thankfully, there's first-come-first-served service at the inside and patio bar areas, which we took full advantage of. Our server (who's name I've unfortunately forgotten), was fantastic. They have a 2-for-1 drinks special for brunch, so we got 2 drinks apiece. The blood + smoke had the right mix of salty and savory. The red sangria was sweet and delicious. Both were very strong. We also ordered the Benedict Uno, the Singapore Stir Fry, and Tavern Fries. The Benedict flavor was great, but the brisket was kind of dry. This place really surprised me with their paid parking lot, 2 for 1 drinks 10-3 everyday, and they're serving brunch until 3 pm. Luckily for me, they include limited lunch items on their brunch menu, a 2 page menu of bites and beverages. I came for their burger since it was featured in an article on the best burgers in town. Only now, its made with filet and strip instead of the filet and ribeye. The server ended up mishearing me when I asked to make the burger medium rare, and wrote down medium well. This made for a very dry burger and I had to send it back. When it finally came back out, by this time I had already been there nearly an hour, believe it or not, and I ate as fast as I could. The fries were pretty good, but at a ridiculous cost, Recommend ordering them with the burger and they reduce the price since its a smaller portion. Overall, I was expecting an amazing burger, and for me it was just a good quality burger. Great place for brunch. We walked in the door at 10:05am on a Sunday and had to wait about 25 minutes before we were seated. People definitely know about this place! If you are a smaller party (less than 3) I would recommend sitting at the bar since they have a lot of bigger tables that they will not seat you at due to the size of your smaller party. We ended up here by accident. After Patterson House was closed, we skipped around to bar-pub type places. Apparently, it's extremely easy to get a seat at a bar in Nashville. This place had the right amount of people in it. We started out here for a drink. I wanted a beer. Their beer list is just ok. They have various local brews with a couple of brews from elsewhere. It was ok but there weren't any beers that hopped out at me. Since we had an impending Mantra trip on the schedule, I ordered a bottle of the Mantra brew they had here. It was good and a nice introduction to Mantra (Chai inspired creamy stout). The real star here are the fries. This place could get 4 stars for the fries alone. They have quite a few things that look appetizing. Most of those things look creative as well. I mean, I don't see Lamb Vindaloo tacos everywhere else or a salted caramel pork chop. I could've easily dined here had I not been full from ribs earlier in the day. Could there be better places to hang out, eat and drink in Nashville? Probably but if you're close by to the Tavern, it seems like a little secret that is somewhere in the middle of too cheap and too expensive. The customers are also mixed between the casual and passing through suit types. You could choose from the following loaded fries for 7.50! The pepper was a little too much on these fries. They were still delicious but we did have to ask for aioli to get through them all. I'm torn here... I want to give 5 stars, because the service was great and the food was very good. Problem I had was the price. $180 for lunch for 3. Granted, we got two apps and each had two drinks. But all three of us got a $12 burger. To be fair, they place the notecards on each table, stating there is a 20% service, so they can update the wages accordingly. (I have zero issue with that). I also can't imagine being a restaurant owner in these shitty times. But, a 20% service fee, plus the 20% tip I leave is a bit much. Spent the weekend in Nashville and visited twice for brunch to start my day. Let me start off by saying ... tavern opens at 10am and has a wait by 1030. I visited during covid so there was additional spacing between tables and then offered both indoor and outdoor seating. Friday evening several friends of mine and I came for a dinner, we are all fans of the MStreet restaurants so we were very excited to try this place. We waited for a table for around 35-40 mins which was understandable because we had a party of 7 and they had the predators game on every TV so no one was complaining. Once we were seated and ordered our drinks, it took quite some time (15mins) for them to be brought to us. We all ordered beer so it wasn't like we all had specialty cocktails. For appetizers we ordered the nachos, Tuscan fries, Tennessee fries and buffalo cauliflower. The nachos were the best of the appetizers, layered with bean dip, cheese, and jalapeños. The buffalo cauliflower was very good but pretty small portion, only about 4-5 pieces of cauliflower total. The fries were okay, nothing special in my opinion. Unfortunately, 6 of us al ordered the Blackberry sour beer they had on tap so when we went to order another round of drinks we were told the keg was out. For my entree I ordered the Seoul bowl, which was good and spicy. The egg the was on top could have been cooked a little longer bc some of the white was quite uncooked giving it an unpleasant consistency. My boyfriend ordered the tavern burger with pepper jack cheese which to his surprise was made with ghost pepper, making it almost inedible due to the amount of heat that came from the cheese. Two of my friends had the Korean bbq tacos, which they were not impressed with, tortilla and filling ratio was off. The lettuce wraps were also not a hit, the presentation was lacking and the flavor just wasn't anything to write home about, we have had better at the Cheesecake Factory. Another friend had the junk salad and added a piece of grilled salmon on top, she said it was good and light. All in all, it was okay. The inside of this restaurant is very interesting, and frankly something that all of us agreed seemed very Atlanta. The design was very cool, but a little strange that it's also a sports bar with many TVs playing sports-- didn't quite match the design. Food was pretty good, but the cheddar biscuits were just biscuits with pieces of cheddar place on top and then smothered in gravy, which was honestly strange. I really wanted to like Tavern--especially since it had such great Yelp reviews. We were there on a big football game day. We got there about 2 hours before kick off and it was already starting to get a little crowded. We had a very nice server who was very attentive and kept checking back with us for drinks. We were mainly there for drinks but decided to order some food. We ordered the nachos with the "angry chicken." When they came out, the first thing I noticed was that the little bowl of salsa was plopped down on the top of the nachos--like King of the Hill or something. Ick. The salsa itself was really good, but I just wish that it was served on the side. As for angry chicken, I am guessing they called it that because it was supposed to be spicy? I could not taste any spice on the chicken and there were about 4 little strips of chicken on our nachos total. Maybe I should call it Angry Chicken because I'm angry that I paid an extra $5 for those little four pieces. As we dug into the nachos, we noticed that they were not hot. The melted cheese was room temperature and when we flipped over the cheese, we saw that the majority of the cheese was not even melted. Also the stacking/creation of the nachos was not that great because all of the chips under the layer of unmelted cheese had nothing on them. They were bare. The server was running around, so we knew that if we tried to return the nachos to get reheated, we would be waiting a long time. We did ask for more salsa since the pile of chips was so big and the salsa portion was so small. We got that right away but when we got the bill, we saw that we were charged $2.50 for that extra little salsa. So I think overall we spent about $21 before tax and tip for a plate of nachos that were not good at all. I wish I could say that I liked it more and that we had had a better experience. Visited tavern as part of a food tour and got to try three dishes there. First we went with the Tuscan kale and Parmesan salad which was surprisingly good. As a kale eater I usually eat it because of the nutrition and not the taste, but somehow here they made the taste work too! The second dish was the buffalo cauliflower and it was my favorite. So... it took me a while to write this review but my visits have been so spread out in time. Bottom line is any way I love it!!! My favorite server is Jaclyn and even though I got nothing but good service here I would say she's a superstar. So very helpful and friendly Food wise I don't think you can go wrong. I have been all over the menu and had all good experience. Some of my favorites are the Parmesan fries, the buffalo cauliflower and the kale salad. The lettuce wraps are perfect if your not super hungry or just looking for something healthier, the black bean falafel is so yummy and their chimichanga is even better than Chuy's! The only bad thing is you can't book a table and it's usually a long wait in line, which I just hate.... bartenders are super hood working both the seated and people waiting behind so you can always get a drink at watch TV while waiting for your table. Watch out for the Saturday and Sunday brunches if you don't like a crowd, I love it though. Came in town on a Sunday night and heard great things about the place. Decided to come alone and ordered the burger with extra patties, onions, bacon and cheese at 7:52pm, the burger didn't come out until 8:27pm, 35 minutes wait on one burger at the bar. The burger itself tasted really good but the food wait time for one burger is a little bit absurd considering that the restaurant is not at its full capacity. Would consider coming back for the good food and vibe but would stay away if you don't want to wait 35 minutes for one burger (especially on a Sunday night) . For the record, a couple of guys coming in after me, sat at the bar, ordered and almost finished eating until my food arrived. Added: The management team responded to this very professionally. She told us that brunch cocktails were 2 for 1 and immediately got our drink & food orders down since the kitchen was obviously slammed. When my Bellini arrived, it was much sweeter than expected (that's what happens after living in LA for 4 years, where bellinis/mimosas are a flute of champagne with an eye drop worth of juice). Our waitress could tell I didn't like the drink, and suggested a "reverse sangria" which is mostly champagne with a little bit of sangria, as she said that would be much more dry. We were in town for the weekend, and looking for a place to eat Friday evening. This wasn't our first choice, but at least we weren't going to starve to death! I had high expectations for Tavern...perhaps too high. I tried the Tavern Burger as it had been recommended to me so many times. The "meltaway" bun was the highlight, but everything else fell flat. The meat had a strange (to me) taste that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It may have been the rib eye/filet beef mix, but as I like both of those cuts I have a hard time believing that was the culprit. I couldn't even finish it, which as a burger lover is extremely rare. The side of fries were relatively standard yet plentiful. The service was okay. I would have expected better from an upscale restaurant, but it was sufficient. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great -- definitely my favorite part of the meal. While visiting Nashville we stayed at the brand new Hilton Fraye hotel and asked for brunch recommendations. The Tavern got rave reviews. The atmosphere was cool and the food was delicious. We had a bit of a slow wait to be served and when the General Manager Tim came by to check on us and apologize for our wait time, he offered to take care of us himself! He was kind and professional. Tavern was a huge disappointment for us while visiting Nashville. We stopped in on a Saturday night and from the menu and exterior it's looked promising. Despite all of the positive reviews, we were extremely let down. We were sat immediately in the bar area. This was one of the few places that didn't offer live music. It was our last night on Nashville and we were hoping to see some. Our server while nice was overwhelmed and pretty much non existent. It was a hassle just getting refills. We started with the cheesesteak egg rolls and they were the highlight of the meal. The meat was delicious! The egg rolls were crispy and the cheese sauce was fantastic! Our meals though were another story. I went with the fish tacos and the wife had the chicken lettuce wraps. My fish tacos were mediocre at best. First I was missing corn, not a huge deal. The fish was so greasy the tortillas couldn't hold up. They were just breaking which then caused a huge mess. They were also very very salty. The guacamole was good though but didn't. seem fresh. My wife's lettuce wraps had one cashew in each wrap, yes just one. The chicken was overcooked and the sauce was terrible. It was like a curried ranch, not very appetizing. And there was entirely too much on them. Like I said we had high hopes but were just let down. When we're back in Nashville I'm not sure we would stop back in. read more

While visiting Nashville, a group of 6 in my party went to Tavern for a late lunch. A few in the group recommended it since they had been here before & said the food was really good. Well, they were right. It was about 3:30 in the afternoon, so we didn't have to wait for a table which was nice. To eat, we ended up getting a few salads to share and a bunch of appetizers to pass around. At 3:30, the full menu wasn't available or I probably would have tried the tacos. I can honestly say I liked everything we got was really good . Items we ordered were: 1/2 wedge salad, caesar salad, egg rolls, guacamole, Tuscan tavern fries, Belgian tavern fries & short rib nachos. Originally, we were served chicken nachos by accident but before anyone even noticed, our waitress brought us the short rib ones and let us keep the chicken at no charge, excellent! To drink, I ordered a strawberry mule which sounded really refreshing on a day when it was 95 outside. Our waitress thankfully warned me when ordering it that it was made with whiskey, asking if it was okay, which I don't drink, so I asked if I could do it with vodka instead. Since we were celebrating my birthday, we ordered a round of lemon drop shots. The shots were HUGE. Like, serious bigger than my mule. Can't complain there! Overall, I would recommend Tavern. We received amazing service here! The have an interesting menu too. I wish you could split up the tacos and order the ones you want, but they're preselected for you. The tacos were pretty good though and they will let you substitute the tortilla for lettuce which is a nice touch. Overall, it's a cool place for a weeknight dinner. read more

Buzzing atmosphere, loud with lotsa TVs for games, concrete walls, arched wood slatted upper deck ceiling and garage doors 4.5*. Food value 2* with a good dose of flies to add to the air; don't they make blue light restaurant zappers to take care of those? Basmati had large chunks of clumped together ie old rice, warmed through and tikka was way heavy on cardamom and packed good heat; chix was dried out, esp ends, maybe cooked under broiler first but not good method whatever they did, as curry protein is softer not hard or dry, mango chutney was fresh made and great condiment. 2nd texture needed, pampadums or naan, esp for $15.50 tag in a pub! 2* Chimichanga at $14.50 was about half the size of your traditional cantina's, chock full of cluckin' with good spice pack but still ends up tasting somewhat generic with cheese sauce lending a gooey wrap instead of the flaky crisp exterior of a traditionale, and nicely presented on a bed of negro frijoles.Where's the guac? 3* Bulleit Old Fashioned was excellent $12 in large glass and mini ice. Large cube format expected for upscale price but flavor definitely on point. 5* Okay $7 for a pint in a TAVERN is gouging and its local TN brew?! You are supposed to promote the drinking establishment, not scare pint lovers away! 1* Ditto $3.50 for a single Tazo teabag?!! Never understood how a $4 box of tea allows you a single pour vs $10/lb coffee with unlimited cups?? 0* Waitress was a real dud, barely talked and not engaged in serving. read more

4.5 stars! Yelp did not fail me! In some areas people are too generous with the stars. I wish Yelp had a 4.5 star option, because who's perfect? I asked the waiter my standard question: "I'm only here one time. What do I get?" He said the burger and Belgian fries. Anyone who reads my reviews knows that South of the fries savant. I'm here to tell you that this week of fine dining from Cali to TN and tasting great fries, this place wins!! The burger was awesome too. Plus, we came on Thursday and got a pitcher of cocktail half off! Great place. A solid 4.5!! read more
