First time eating at the Tavern On The Hill. Good atmosphere, friendly staff, and affordable. They run specials throughout the week. Got fish and chips because it was Friday! It was fresh and the portions were just right. An open tavern layout that's not really homey. Looks like a nice spot from the outside, actually a nice building but it was a "local" joint. Tavern on the Hill, now Hillside Johnnies is an awesome bar for watching sports, hanging with friends, eating and drinking and most of all, seeing live music. Their open jam every Sunday is awesome! Wicked Rhode and Second Hand Smoke do an amazing job! Recently Say Hello II Heaven was there, an amazing Chris Cornell tribute band. The place was packed and it was a blast. Went on Saturday night....had "The Hill" nachos as my dinner and they were delicious! If they had the option to add BBQ chicken...they would be out of this world! They do have an "Irish nacho" option that is made of potatoes instead of tortilla chips that sounds very tempting for next time. Sat at the bar to eat - which was packed but was being taken care of by two, very friendly bartenders. I had never been to this place (it was originally an ice cream parlor) but found the venue itself to be great. An area directly in front of the stage with several high tops and one standard height table, a large horseshoe shaped bar with some high tops off to the side and an area beyond that large enough for two rope pocket pool tables. While the ladies bathroom only had one stall - it was very large and clean. The band that was playing (Seed Racer - Rock cover band) was awesome and had much of the crowd singing and dancing along by the second set...After finishing my nachos I joined a group at a table in the band area. I ended up going back to the bar for all of my drinks...I don't know why the waitress never came over to our table but luckily, the bartenders were on point so, overall, it wasn't a big deal. I have to say - all of the staff I encountered were super friendly and the patrons were all having a great time. **KARAOKE REVIEW** - before I get into this review I want to say that this bar is awesome, the food is great, and the barstaff, workers and owner are ALL NICE, with the exception of the KARAOKE DJ NAMED BRIAN with his wife Beth. I was a patron of Hillside Johnny's, formerly known as Tavern on the hill in norton mass for quite awhile. A close friend of mine told me about this OUTLAW KARAOKE DJ that was suppose to be good, and at 1st Brian was good until he started playing favorites with certain people namely a guy named DAVE K. who he is apparently friends with, anyways, Brian continues to SKIP PAST PEOPLE who are clearly in the ROATION OF SINGERS. He does not know how to run KARAOKE, HE does not do it fairly..I dont give a fuck whether a singer sucks, or is great, your suppose to keep a FAIR ROTATION and mix in new singers slowly, while still maintain the rotation for people that were there early in the night, YOU DONT PLAY FUCKING FAVORITES.. There are also people that will bribe the DJ and pay him to get them to go up next..The DJ is already being paid by the tavern. The DJ continually tries to sing in the rotation which is not good when u have 40 singers. THE DJ SHOULD NOT BE SINGING, NEITHER THE WIFE BETH, only if u have 6 or less singers, this is a standard RULE in KARAOKE that is widely known..I could go on and on here, but in closing. TAVERN ON THE HILL will continue to LOSE CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF THE SHITTLY KARAOKE.also the DJ gives crappy sound to some singers, brings the mic down, lowers the music on some singers, and others he likes lets them sound like american idol. First time here for the beer man. They have 12 taps and a nice selection. House pour is 16oz. No beer list is posted, but the place just opened and hopefully one is in the works. 30 seat bar with high and standard height tables. Many twists to the standard pub menu, looking forward to trying them all. Staff is friendly and attentive, but it is not too extremely busy right now. Scummy people. I go here to get food with my boyfriend and Im at the front door and NO ONE CAME TO SEAT US! Also they was not bust but our server Felicia I think her name is, didnt come to check on us or refill our drinks!! I was baffled. The food was decent. Taste wise could have been better. Menu wasn't big at all, a bit overpriced! Never will go there again. Kitchen lady was ok, Heather was being a wicked bitch to the black kid that works with her. Great staff that accommodated a very large celebration of life. The venue was a perfect spot to say good bye to our precious son Christian. Scott took care of everyone and every detail. I believe this place is recently under new management. SO and I came because the new burger/beer place down the street had a 2.5 hour wait on a Saturday, but this place's parking lot was pretty empty. Came inside, just sat ourselves at the bar -- it's very open with not a lot of seating, or staff, at least it wasn't at 7pm on this Saturday night. The owner (?) appeared to be sitting at the bar ridiculing the bartender/waitress, which made it uncomfortable. After they left, however, things were fine. Bartenders (also playing the role of server) were nice and tried to be attentive although they seemed overworked (it look like 3 tries to get menus and get our order in). Had the nachos with the homemade chips and they were delicious! I ordered the chicken tenders and they were AMAAAAAZING! Overall, the atmosphere was a bit odd but the food was great. I'd come back again to see what it's like at like 9/10pm when the band is playing to see if it's more lively. read more

We came her when it first opened it was way better than it is now. Tuesday night no waiting. 6 people in the whole place. Ordered the burger on the hill and was cooked to liking. The oil for the fries needs to be changed. My bride ordered some kind of peanut sauce pork type sandwich with sweet potato fries and brown sugar marinate. Cooked in same oil.
