We stopped in here for dinner with our family and ordered an assortment of burgers and sandwiches. My brother-in-law and I chose the smashed burger, which was piled high with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and their special sauce that tied everything together perfectly. It was the tallest smash burger I'be ever seen and almost required a game plan to eat-messy, but absolutely delicious. They also have a solid beer selection, and the beer paired perfectly with the burger. Other sandwiches ordered at the table were the turkey B.L.A.T (tureky, lettuce, avocado and tomato), chicken Caesar wrap and the hot mess (fried chicken, garlic habanero sauce, lettuce, coleslaw, pickles and ranch. Each meal comes with a choice of sides - my fries were crispy on the outside and puffy and soft on the inside, while my husband loved the crispy tater tots. All the meals were hits. The service was friendly and efficient, especially considering how busy it was that evening. This is excellent pub food if that's what you're looking for, and the meals definitely hit the spot! read more

Found this place from an instagram ad-- saw they had pizza flights & we had to visit! Pan pizza was nice & crispy, even with multiple toppings-- the potstickers & cheesesteak eggrolls were really good too! Nice outdoor seating & they had good music (country / today's hits vibes) right next to a 3-par golf course so they featured a house transfusion & painkiller drink. Will be coming back! :) read more

We went to Downtown Public House on a Sunday night, and even though the restaurant wasn't very busy at all, the experience was a disaster from start to finish. We arrived around 6:30 PM and didn't get out of there until closer to 8:00 PM - not by our choice. We specifically went looking forward to trying their pizza flights, but the waitress informed us they had sold out over an hour before we arrived and that we should come on Monday, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays to get it. To our surprise, shortly after we sat down, we watched a pizza flight get delivered to another table. After sitting there for a half hour just to get started, we then had to wait another forty minutes for our food to arrive. When it finally did, it was a massive letdown across the board: - Turkey BLT: It had plenty of toppings, but it literally had only one single slice of turkey on the entire sandwich. - Chicken Caesar Wrap: My wife's wrap barely had any chicken in it, was mostly just lettuce, and was completely missing the croutons. - Smash Burger: My son ordered a smash burger with just cheese, and it was so overcooked and dry that he stopped eating it halfway through. Between the incredibly slow service on a slow night, the conflicting stories about the pizza flights, and the poorly executed food, it was a total waste of time and money. Downtown Public House (formerly The Downtown) opened for business in Norton in May 2025. This casual local pub and restaurant serves up tasty pub fare including a selection of appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salads, soups, fish & chips, mac & cheese, rice bowls, steak tips, South Shore bar pizzas, and desserts. The bar offers 12 beers on tap, wine, and cocktails. The pricing is moderate. We stopped by for an early dinner very recently. The atmosphere inside is very dim. Since it was a very nice day outside, we opted to sit outside in the spacious patio area, which wasn't busy. The outdoor patio has table seating with umbrellas, outdoor bar with seating, TVs and a small corner stage for live music performers. There's country music blasting over the speakers. We got some ice waters and promptly ordered our food, which came out within 10 minutes. The Downtown Burger ($16 plus tax) served with sweet potato fries was a big burger with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, applewood smoked bacon & ranch, thicker grilled beef patty on a soft bun. The side of sweet potato fries were very good, crisp outside and soft inside. The Fish & Chips ($21 plus tax) had an IPA battered haddock filet, golden fries, and cole slaw with tartar sauce on the side. The deep fried batter was crispy, a bit greasy and the haddock was soft and very hot. The golden fries were very hot, crisp outside and light soft texture. The thin shredded slaw (cabbage, carrot) had a slight tangy vinegar base. We finished the fries and fish & chips plate and got half the burger boxed to go. The check with Toast QR code was $39.59 with tax and before tip. Overall, a good early dinner was enjoyed outside on the patio as country music was blaring over the speakers. The atmosphere on this outside patio sort of reminded me of other restaurant/pubs with outside patios & live music performing spaces on the North Shore like SSG where they have country nights during the summer. The drinks here are amazing and the drink menu is always changing. The quality of the food is great. The food for me fluctuates. Burgers are delicious and priced accordingly. Bar pizzas are ok... overly cheesy and greasy, not enough sauce and almost always undercooked. Although many of the entrees are delicious and great quality, I tend to find that their entrees and salads are small portions and overpriced. At other local restaurants, their portions for similar entrees and salads are much bigger and price appropriately. The addition of the outdoor tent this winter has been nice. I'm not sure why they continue to have the live music inside and not in the tent. The inside restaurant is quite small and any chance of having g a conversation with live music is impossible. read more

Always enjoy their sister restaurant, The Gavel, Wrentham. Ordered O/Rings, chix wings and a bar pizza - all came out of the freezer. Rings like frozen supermarket rings, wings - bones had purplish hue (meaning previously frozen) and pizza crust, if not from frozen state, then right off the storeroom shelf. Food is good overall (not outstanding) I did take my salmon bowl home which was a bit dry (no type of dressing at all) and there were bones in the salmon. The service at the bar was good but at the tables terrible. We had to constantly flag down the waitress for everything! They should do some type of planting or treatment for bugs, we were assaulted at certain times and the regular piped in music was way too loud! Hi This review covers 3 interactions with DPH. My wife really enjoys the sweet n spicy pizza on a califlower crust. That is her go to whenever we go there. Last 3 interactions 1. About 5 weeks ago we ordered food to go. We ordered 2 bar pizzas on califlower crust. I picked them up and they were both regular pizza crust. We called them back and they said oh yea our bad we will credit you. 2. 4 weeks ago - We went there with another couple and ordered food. My wife ordered the sweet n spicy as usual and the 3 of us ordered sandwiches. Our food arrived....hers came about 30 minutes later. They gave us a free round but 3 meals were cold by the time the pizza came. 3. I went there with 4 other guys. We were splitting apps. and I told them about the sweet n spicy. We ordered it the regular way, califlower crust extra crispy. It arrived and we could not even pick it up, so i said to bartender I think this is regular crust and she said no it is not it is califlower.....I showed her how soft it was and she said well they didn't make it crispy. She offered another one but I didn't want to argue any more. VERY disappointing because we have always recommended this because they have done nice things to Downtown both inside and out. read more

What an upgrade! I've been coming here since I was a teenager 30 years ago. The place has been completely remodeled and looks amazing. They left just enough of the original Downtown to keep the authentic feel. The bar in particular has really nice woodwork and is the show pice of the whole place. The food was excellent. We had the steak tips on the Caesar salad and chicken fingers. The kitchenn looks like it got a remodel too w new equipment. They have a legit pizza oven and I saw some of the pizzas while we were there. They looked great. I'm getting pizza next time I'm there. There's also a lot of outdoor seating now w an outdoor bar in the back that is a big improvement. read more
