    Chicken strips and fries
    Jana N.

Close to downtown Auburn and the college. Small local spot that has a good drink selection along with a menu that has a variety of foods to fill anyone's taste buds. We stopped here before the Mardi Gras parade (glad we came early) because this place was packed! We were able to sit outside and had a phenomenal waiter (also the manager) take care of us. I ordered the chicken strips with French fries. The flavor on these were amazing. Would come back and order them again in a heart beat. The rest of my party had a black & blue burger, chicken wings and a club sandwich We had a great experience. If you are looking for a spot near downtown, off the beaten path this is your spot

Visited while school was out, so admittedly not a busy time. Waiter was attentive, friendly, and not push, providing great service. Great selection of drinks, including some frozen margarita and cocktail options. Good selection of whiskeys, with some hard to find bourbons. Decent selection of beers though it tended to the IPA side. Nice indoor and outdoor seating options with lots of TV tuned to various sports. Relatively quiet environment. Chicken fingers and pinion rings were very good, but just slightly over cooked. Wings were very good, as was the patty melt. Celebratory vodka watermelon "shooters" for the fourth were a nice touch. Prices are slightly high, especially for a college town, still, I'd go back. Worth a visit.

Bacon jam in pimento cheese, burger with hand, breaded onion rings

First time at the Tavern. This location has been three different restaurants over the past five years. They did a complete remodel inside, and the place looked great very much a sports bar vibe, which is cool for me because I really like that setting. Service was a little slow. However, an Auburn basketball game and an NFL playoff game was getting ready to start. So, the place was really getting packed. They may have been slightly understaffed for this day. Our waiter was very friendly and did well. He just looked to be covering the whole restaurant. Food finally came out after a pretty good wait, I ordered the bacon jam and pimento cheese burger with onion rings. The burger was really good and the onion rings were hand, battered and awesome. Overall, I was very pleased with the food so in my opinion worth the wait and the vibe was really cool as well. I will definitely return likely to watch more sports. I apologize for the photo with a few bites out of the burger, but I was hungry and forgot to take a picture before

I've been to the Tavern a few times now. I feel comfortable recommending this establishment. The chicken fingers here taste homemade. The fries that accompanied the meal were also fresh. I appreciate the effort and it definitely comes across in taste. The beer selection is good if not great. They use Untappd as their beer menu but do not keep it up to date. I took off one star because the staff seem a bit untrained and more interested in goofing off than taking care of the tables. Otherwise, a solid place.

I I can't remember the name of the sandwich but it was chicken fingers and pimentos cheese

Service was fast and friendly! Food was great! It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. I I can't remember the name of the sandwich I got but it was chicken fingers and pimentos cheese... really good!! The onion rings were a tad greasy for me. The flavor was great tho!!! My son got the burger and fries, both were good!

The BEST onion rings I have had in a long time! Delish. And, the tiny duck that comes in the slushies is what lured me in to ordering a Tigerita Margarita. Super tasty!

Food is horrific. Prices unreasonable. Don't stop here, find another place of business. Not worth your time.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

A friend & I got to drop in for lunch, and it did not disappoint. The decor hasn't changed much - it's still comfortable & clean. There's free parking in the front & sides of the building. Garrett suggested Amsterdam for lunch. Located near the Auburn campus, Amsterdam is one of more well known eateries off campus. Students may not have eaten at Amsterdam, but most can point you in the right direction. I've been tricked by appearances before but Amsterdam is in a category of its own. There's a front and a back part of the building. But I didn't know that until we were led to our table in the back. The front part is a typical "smallish" restaurant with tight booths and tables. The decorations of impressionist painters adorn the walls giving the front dining room a warm inviting feel. When we were led to our table, I thought I was being led to the restrooms. We actually went past the restrooms down a small flight of stairs and into another large room. This beautiful back room was oozing the "hidden wine cellar" vibe throughout. There were tables and chairs in the center with smaller tables and chairs lining one wall and booths on another. Then there's a large full service bar lining the 3rd wall and a workstation on the 4th wall. The ceiling with hanging panels of wood moved the light beautifully and impressed me. There was also a large floor to ceiling wine rack next to our 4 top. Gary tried their Omelet. Three eggs served with conecuh sausage, bacon, onions, peppers, cheddar cheese, and potatoes. With the sourdough toast, the plating was immaculate. I didn't get to taste it, but Gary didn't have any deiicions/ Garrett opted for their Brunch special: Apple & Pecan Freeman toast. When it arrived to our table, we immediately noticed the large slices of French toast. As promised, the French toast was topped with slices of peaches and apples and butter brown sugar with white powder sugar as well. Again I didn't get to taste, but I savored it with my eye. Paul and I tried the Amsterdam Burger. He got some fries as his side, but I upgraded my side to a beautifully plated side salad. With the added fried egg, my patty was grilled to a perfect medium with just a hint of pink. Stacked with it was some lettuce, caramelized onions, applewood bacon, spicy pickles, tomato and their traditional burger sauce all squeezed together between 2 bun halves, it has to be stabbed with a long food pick to hold it together. It was juicy, tasty and just Yom Yom Yom Yom. Our server was attentive and checked on us frequently. Other notable menu items include fried brussels, lobster egg rolls, rum salmon, breakfast croissant, snickerdoodle pancakes, steak & eggs, egg white omelet and shrimp & grits. I was told their Crab Cake & Avocado is to die for. Meal prices are on the high end but Amsterdam understands how to elevate Southern comfort food.
