I ordered an old fashioned and well wasn't the best is all I'll say. For dinner I got there chicken bacon ranch flat bread. It was decent. I'd get that again. The wife got the house salad with steak. That was not great. Wife only ate maybe half of it and only had a few bites of the steak. So kind of mixed on place. Food is really kinda expensive. It's basic. My recommendation is to only do appetizers and drinks here, there's better food in Auburn. I recommend the spinach artichoke dip for an app. They have lots of drink specials throughout the week-- Mondays are $4 Mojitos and $3 Draft beers. I know Wednesdays they have a martini special. Service is good! Sitting on the porch is fun when the weathers good. Inside is kinda Olive Garden vibes--definitely recommend the porch. It's huge, big bar. I visited Auburn University for the first time this past weekend and was taken out to Live Oaks for dinner! We sat on a stunning patio with lots of space, twinkle lights, and a perfect sunset view - I loved the ambiance here, especially on a warm evening! The menu wasn't super diverse - lots of staple items such as pasta, chicken, or salmon. I opted for the chicken bacon and chipotle ranch flatbread which was very tasty, and I also tried some of my friends dishes (salmon plate and chicken florentine) which were decent as well. Overall the food here wasn't anything crazy special but the drink menu was pretty extensive! I tried the Pearl's Peach which was a mix of real peach pieces with vodka and peach schnapps - very delicious! There was long wait times for food and drinks here, but our kind waitress had apologized saying they were backed up. I'm sure going on another night instead of a Saturday would have quicker wait times, but it really didn't hinder my experience at Live Oaks! Overall, I would recommend Live Oaks as a good spot for parents/families visiting Auburn University as it does have staple items and a great ambiance that would make everyone happy! read more

I came on a weekend evening just to sit outside and have drinks. Unfortunately it got a little breezy and their heaters were out of propane so we asked to move inside. The waitress was nice and had no problem with this. My 3 stars are mostly because I didn't eat here so it was "A-Okay" based on what I went for. I will say the inside was much smaller than I expected and had a nice intimate, low lighting feel. It would be great for a date. The Wednesday happy hour is great! Half off bottle of wine and $8 hamburgers! Yum! Their Black and Blue salad with steak is big and filling. Many at our table enjoyed tasty drinks. The only problem was the dessert. I ordered the donuts. They were donut holes and had to be a day or two old, very dry and stale. I also didn't get the dipping sauce. I had taken the dessert to go so once I got home it was too late to get the sauce. We were the o ly ones eating in the inside, table of eight. We had to wave our server down and others offer to help. We had a wonderful experience at this Auburn bar and restaurant. The atmosphere, food, and service were stellar. Our party of eight was seated in the large outdoor patio. We started with several appetizers, but the Mac and Cheese Bites stole the show. More than a "bite", these unique creations looked like giant fried cheese sticks. Rectangular patties of mac & cheese were breaded then fried. They are served with a roasted red pepper aioli and a jalapeño honey mustard sauce. The latter was my favorite. For my entree I ordered the Blackened Salmon. It wasn't "blackened" by my definition, but is was still seasoned and prepared nicely. The large filet was cooked just right to me; firm but the meat easily separated with my fork. The Salmon comes with two sides, and I love that there is a wide variety to select from. I ordered Brussel sprouts and a side house salad. The Brussels were delicious. They were thinly sliced and prepared with pieces of smoked sausage. Very fresh and tasty. The side salad was very good, and what you would expect. A mixture of fresh lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, etc. The portion was too large for me to finish. The prices are on the high side for the average college student's budget. But, a nicer experience than the typical college-town restaurant and bar. read more

There wasn't a wait at all, so I loved that on a Friday night, got seated, but I hated how long it took for my waiter to acknowledge our table. But once he got to our table I understood why. His name was Eric and he was new and he was so kind! We had a few mishaps, but he handled them great! The food took a long time, but it was because they were short staffed. I got crab cakes and spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer. They were a bit thin, but so good and way more sauce than other people give. And the dip was yummy too! To drink I got a tipsy tiger with tequila and they filled her UP! 10/10 recommend that drink. Honestly, the entree was the worst of the evening. The wait + the taste was not good. It was seasoned with nothing but pepper and the sauce was WAY too salty. It was a good dish, but not last night. My friend ordered asparagus and they gave her green beans??? As a student of Auburn, I have gone to Live Oaks twice. Both times have left me wanting to come back for more. Live Oaks is a great combination of lively service, great drinks, and exemplary food. Starting with lively service, I was greeted by Erin who promptly gave us service with a smile. She not only found a table that was in a quieter section, she gave my party water as soon as we sat and said if we needed anything before our waitress arrived to call her. Hostess as genuine and golden like Erin are hard to find and are the reason for success in places like Live Oaks. On a different occasion, my dad wanted to take me out to dinner and we visited Live Oaks. Asa served us and gave a great experience. Always checking on our needed and insuring that the food was to our liking. My dad and I ordered burgers, they were savory and lived up to it's name: "The Burger." I would recommend Live Oaks to anyone who is looking for a premier outdoor dinning experience and wants to experience a staple in the Auburn community. Came here after an early day game for dinner around 4pm and it took close to an hour and a half to get our food once ordered. We had a litany of other issues as well such as menu items being unavailable but not being told so until an hour into our wait (after we ordered them) and the chicken add-on to the salad being literally once slice of a chicken breast, not a whole breast. The server was nice and tried her best but they were so far lost she couldn't do much. When I asked for a round of comped drinks, the manager came over and told us no because everyone was waiting awhile and she refused to admit the other issues were legitimate. She ended up comping the app replacement for the one they were out of and the chicken for the salad but was so defensive and rude the entire time. This could have all been resolved better if the waitress has just been allowed to bring a round of drinks, the manager getting involved was the icing on the cake for this review as she was horrible and dismissive. We then ordered dinner. My chicken plate arrived and the two chicken breasts were cold. I don't mean luke warm, they were colder than room temperature. I sent them back and they were reheated and returned to me. They were now warm, but very dry. They were advertised as lightly blackened, but I could not detect any blackening. The lima beans were the best part of the meal. I wish that was all I had ordered. Service was very lackluster, with lots of waiting in between visits. Prices are fairly high, averaging $23 per entree. At that price, I expect better and faster service, not to mention hot food. While the venue is enticing, would only return for drinks, not dinner. read more

I can honestly say I've never had a worse restaurant experience in 44 years of life, and nor has my husband. We understand supply chain and staffing issues. We do not understand continually seating people when you are aware you have no food and the currently seated tables are walking out unfed. After waiting an hour for a table for 4, we sat down and our waitress (super friendly, none of this is a reflection of her performance,) informed us they had run out of 90% of the appetizers. They literally had one thing you could order. Ok, fine. We'll just order dinner. Thirty minutes later waitress comes to tell us they're out of two of the four entrees we ordered. We reorder from things "available." She then returns ten minutes later to tell us the replacement things we ordered are also unavailable. At this point we ask for a manager. Manager arrives with a load of excuses, promising to cook us "anything we want," but also saying how he has no food items left, no freezer, etc. We see another table walking out having never gotten their food. We ask for our kids meals to go (the ones we had ordered an hour prior and were supposedly available). After ten minutes without them arriving, we walk out as well. The most interesting part of the whole experience? As tables are walking out over this fiasco, they are still seating people, as waitresses are in tears. read more

My YELP says I've checked in twice, but really I've only eaten here once. The second time I checked in as we were waiting to get to the hostess station. It was an Auburn football weekend and when we got up to the young girl, she informed us that they were no longer taking names, the wait would be hours. So much for that. I would avoid them if the Tigers are playing. The first time I went it was okay, but nothing special. The weather was nice outside, so outdoor seating and the company we were with made the meal. Probably the best outdoor bar in town that isn't exclusively for the rowdy college crowd. The food has been hit or miss, but the service is usually good. The bar selection is plentiful and good craft beer choices. If the weather is nice, we enjoy it. However, parking here can be really bad depending on the day/time of day. With the abundant construction in Auburn, it's a challenge. Would recommend sticking to appetizers and happy hour here mostly. read more

The ambiance of this place is unmatched in the Auburn/Opelika area. They have one of the best outdoor bars and outdoor seating areas so it's great to come out here on a night or day with good weather. They don't have many beers on tap which is not what I expected from a place like this but they do have a full bar with mixed drinks and wine. Their entrees are just ok. Nothing special and has a really high price point but I do love their appetizers. The mac and cheese bites and the steak egg rolls are both really great. So I keep this in my list of restaurants to head to when I want to bar hop and have a few bites along the way. read more

Service - Pretty good, given the bar vibe. Ambience - It felt extremely homey and the colors were very vibrant. I liked the patio and how the decor looked, but we opted to sit inside to get away from all the college kids. Price - Not bad, around $10-$17 per entree. Food - Our favorite things were the sweet potato fries and the seafood chowder soup, which coincidently, were both sides to entrees. The shrimp and grits were a little too spicy. The dinner service I received last night will not earn my return business due to management issues and low food quality. My group of 6 was seated about 20 minutes before the dinner rush on a Saturday evening- Liveoak's outdoor seating area is beautiful and well-situated. The bar is certainly one of the nicest in Auburn. We were promptly seated and served drinks from the waitstaff, who did an above average job of being attentive and helpful throughout the night. Problems arose during the dinner service. We ordered chips and queso for an appetizer, which was tasty; extra chips were provided before we even asked. However, from the time we sat down, to the time my entree was brought out, 115 minutes had elapsed- I had to leave the restaurant to feed the 90 minute parking meter outside. The staff and management had no excuse or reason for this. It was disheartening to see two tables with more guests than us arrive later, eat, pay and leave before we even got our entrees. I ordered the seared tuna with mac&cheese with grilled vegetables. The priciest meal on the menu, my tuna was harshly over cooked and dry, though the portion was large. The macaroni and cheese was similarly hard, dry and rather bland- certainly not a homemade baked dish like I was expecting. Finally, the vegetables were over seasoned spice bombs, though they were at least cooked properly. Management offered us a round of watermelon vodka shots to make up for our experience, but I came to liveoaks for a good meal, not for a rail liquor apology. 2 stars for ambience, and at least the juvenile attempt to make up for their management failures last night. read more

Quite possibly one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in this town. We stopped by for brunch and while the reviews gave us a lukewarm feeling, they do not do this place justice. The service was friendly and fast, the drinks were spot on, and the food was absolutely delicious! I had the Breakfast Scrambler while my family had the Black and Bleu salad and some eggs and bacon a la carte. The bartender even had my son giggling by playing hide and seek.
