He said he would help set it up but I had to throw him a few extra $$ Well he set my!!! unemployment $$$ up to go to HIS bank account!!! All together he must have gave me maybe $1000 saying that's all the money they gave! I got a receipt from him and the receipt said unemployment gave me a total of $15000! Sharing my son and DIL's experience. I have stopped going myself to Steve for a couple of years now, and his employee's. Steve and his staff put lies into your tax return will get you audited by IRS, nasty, out of control. Read my son recent story. If there were 0 stars that is what he would get. NEVER GO TO THIS OFFICE. You will be robbed and smacked by his RECEPTIONIST/CLEANING LADY! His company is TAX DOCTOR IN STATEN ISLAND. This tax preparer will get you audited. I had such a bad experience with Steve, and especially his nasty staff. 1. Was audited due to Steve "dropping the ball, in his words" and not putting my unemployment insurance on my 2015. Then forgetting and dropping the ball on my 2016. He has made many, many mistakes on my taxes. 2. Filing my 2017, after I told him not too. 3. As per a telephone to Steve, and him assuring that he would make me whole by paying my penalties and refunding for the 2016 and 2017, so I can go somewhere else for the amendments. Telling me come in Friday 3/16/18. I proceed to his office with my baby, wife and myself. I was told to wait, after an hour asked if I could see him, the receptionist/cleaning person, goes and and comes out and says he doesn't have anything for you. I said I was staying until I see see him, and the receptionist/cleaning person was getting irate, and my wife started trying to talk to her. It got pretty heated Receptionist/Cleaning women, started to tell my wife, that she was a f**king Brooklyn princess. THE RECEPTIONIST SLAPPED MY WIFE WHILE MY WIFE WAS HOLDING OUR BABY 11 moths old. Police called and she was charged with harassment. Obviously if you smack and stretch someone with an open hand, that is all you can be charged with. DO NOT GO TO THIS PREPARER. He puts stuff down in your returns that you will be audited by the IRS. read more

I have been a client of Steve Lombardo, the Tax Doctor for the last three years. I found Steve Lombardo through his website and was impressed with his 30 year experience in the field. That said, my first year (2016) with Steve Lombardo was satisfactory. However, in 2017, I received a letter from the IRS after Steve Lombardo prepared my taxes indicating that a part of the tax form had not been completed correctly. I promptly called Steve Lombardo who admitted the mistake and promised to be more careful the following year. I filed my taxes with Steve Lombardo again in January 27, 2018 and received my Federal Refund on or about February 8, 2018. My husband also filed with Steve Lombardo on February 3, 2018 and was advised by Steve that his tax refund would be 12k! My husband still owed the IRS 5k from the prior year and hoped his refund this year would cover that 5k and Steve affirmed that it would! Steve Lombardo also increased the tax preparation fee from $150 the year before to $250 due to the fact that the anticipated refund was so large! In fact, Steve Lombardo advised us that the tax preparation fees were contingent on the amount of the refund. He said, the larger the refund, the more we were expected to pay. My husband did not have his bank information on the day he filed but, called Steve within the hour of filing with the requisite bank account information. Three weeks later and my husband's refund still hadn't been received. I thought this was very strange. I called and left Steve Lombardo numerous messages which he didn't return. Finally, in frustration, my husband and I went to his office on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Upon arrival, Carrie, Steve's Assistant advised that I would be seen by one of Steve's Assistant preparers. After a review of my husband's filing this Preparer advised my husband and I that he would NOT be receiving 12k but would receive a little over 6k (of which 5k was owed) and that he OWED the State over 1500! This was news to us! Steve Lombardo never told us this! On top of this unexpected debacle, the Assistant preparer advised us that my husband's refund was NEVER eFiled by Steve Lombardo three weeks earlier! At that moment, Steve was exiting his office with a client and I called him over. I was livid! The Assistant Tax preparer explained the situation to Steve Lombardo who had the audacity to tell me, "I never told you would receive $12,000...I am sorry that YOU MISUNDERSTOOD me! " Steve Lombardo kept repeating this OUTRIGHT LIE! Now, my husband who is a calm, even-keeled man also affirmed my accusation. He told Steve Lombardo that he did tell us his refund would be 12k and raised the preparation fee accordingly. Steve Lombardo then told my husband that he would refund the preparation fee and had Carrie, his Assistant give us a $250 refund check. Although, I e-Filed with Steve Lombardo on January 27, 2018, I had still not received my NY State return, to date. I called Steve Lombardo and explained the situation and after checking he said that he would re-file my NY State return. He said that this type of thing "happens sometimes" that "sometimes the return is not received " and "is an easy fix". He assured me while on the phone that he just re-filed my return. After hanging up with Steve Lombard. I was suspicious that he probably never e-Filed my return with NY State. So, I decided to call NY State at 1 518 457-5181 to inquire about the status of same. I was told by the Representative that they had NO RECORD of an e-File or return for me! Steve Lombardo NEVER mentioned the fact that he failed to e-File my return! In fact, the NY State Representative advised me if Steven Lombardo had e-Filed my return on January 27, 2018 he would've received an email confirmation from them affirming same about a week later. I called Mr. Lombardo and told him what the NY State Representative told me and all he said was "Well it's filed now.." I am flabbergasted! How can a man who purports 30 years of tax expertise make such rookie mistakes and then LIE about it! How could he "forget" to e-File returns? Then have the audacity to charge upwards of $100.00 for e-Files he forgets to actually e-File? Steve Lombardo's consistent and flagrant errors are unconscionable! Least to say, we won't be returning to the Tax Doctor! DO NOT FILE YOUR TAXES HERE!!!! read more
