Had a very disappointing miscalculation by the accountant we worked with for years. Tried to get an explanation/remedy from one of the owners, unfortunately all I got were defensiveness and excuses. Fired! Sometimes all you have to do as a business owner is acknowledge a mishap and apologize. Costly mistake. read more

They've had all over Texas for months. Still ain't done. We call and asked to talk to someone they say they're with new clients but yet they can't even get there old clients taken care of. read more

Came in with a mess due to family and health issues. I needed help. Met with a preparer and she said she would get started. I came in again and she handed them all back to me and said she decided not to help me. I asked her over and over and over, why?? She refused to answer me. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND USE TURBO TAX INSTEAD! I was shocked by the amount of taxes I owed and, when I researched the matter further, was able to determine that the preparer at Tax Help neglected to find a $1000 hardship credit that prevented me from paying additional taxes on my early IRA distribution. I got to pay Tax Help $175 and then go do my own taxes. They utilize a system that took a quick 10-15 minutes to prepare my taxes and looked to be no different than numerous online software options. Given the recent tax changes limiting itemizations and instead using a standard deduction, it is now easier than ever to do your own taxes. The owner/office manager is an argumentative, sarcastic, interrupting, unreasonable boor that did nothing but escalate the situation. I would have been happy with a refund of 50% of the preparation fees but she would absolutely not meet in the middle and take any responsibly for the mistake her preparer made. She kept saying it's a "he said, she said" type of situation and that she was not going to do anything about it. We will certainly see what the Better Business Bureau has to say. I would definitely like to know if the office manager would have been so brazen and rude if I was sitting in the office across from her. We will see because I still have to go in and provide more information before my taxes are filed. I look forward to meeting her. read more

Gail Briggs was excellent, well organized and very helpful. Erin, however was rude, condescending and unorganized. She did not have the information I had brought to her in our first meeting several months ago, and was angry that I had not printed out the information that she had not told me she would need. Even though I had brought in my laptop, she told me the forms had to be printed, and I would have to bring them back later. I only wish I had walked out of the appointment instead of trying to work with her. read more

We have been getting our taxes done with Tax Help for 4 years now and every time I leave, I leave with confidence. In the past, we have done our taxes on our own, been to a large franchised service, and even to a tax attorney and nothing compares to the service we get with Tax Help. The staff is great from making the appointment to getting our taxes prepared. We have even left and had to come back to sign paperwork, but it was because we forgot something and they caught it before submitting it. It's that peace of mind that we didn't get anywhere else. Taxes are so personal and Tax Help makes me feel like they are my family working on our side. I know that I can count on them to apply all of my deductions and look out for me and my family. read more

Three words to describe our Tax Help experience: Inaccurate, Late, Inconvenient. My husband had uneventful tax preps done with Duff at this place for 8 years, and for the last 2, I joined him (neither times with Duff). At our "appointment" last month we waited over a half hour before we asked if the wait would be much longer. Once we did this, they found another employee, Heather, (not who we made the appointment with), to take pity on us and help us with our taxes. We got married this year and asked Heather if we would get more money back if we filed joint or separate. She hit a button in her tax software and advised us that if we filed separately we would get an extra $400 back. Based on Heather's advice, we filed separately. We paid Tax Help $125 to file mine, and $167 to file my husband's return, and left taking away almost half less than what the two of us normally got back individually before we got married, (which we thought was weird since we had built a home, had a lot loan, sold a house, sold a car, and got married in 2015). But they are the "tax experts," right? A week later I got a voicemail from Tax Help's, Brenda, stating, "There was something that went wrong that went wrong on the transmission of it and all the numbers changed in our system, sooooo Heather needs you to bring your return back in so we can try to get this fixed." Just the kind of voicemail you want to get after you pay so much money for accuracy and convenience. I take my tax return back, wait for Heather again, and when I sit down with her she informs me that she actually needed BOTH my husband's tax return and mine back. What a hassle considering I had not brought his with since they didn't tell me something was also wrong with his! She offered me a pre-paid postage envelope to mail his back so we wouldn't have to drive all the way back there but my husband did not trust them at this point and opted to deliver his by hand a day later. A week later I get ANOTHER call from Brenda and she tells me my husband and I need to come BACK IN to Tax Help AGAIN to sign our returns, and that now he is going to owe over $200 and he would need to pay that at that time. WHAT? Why does he suddenly owe more money, I ask Brenda. She cannot tell me, so I request a sit-down with, Duff, the tax guy my husband used to see there and whom he never had any known issues with. Brenda was condescending and snide during this call so I unfortunately stooped to her level and match her rotten attitude, she hangs up on me, I call her back even more disgusted than before (what a total mess), and confirm our new appointment. Ten minutes later, my husband gets a call from a new Tax Help person who is completely condescending and proceeds to LIE and say it was my idea for us to file separate. (So now, the numbers are not jumbled up in their system, as Brenda had told me, but the real reason is they screwed up by telling us to file separate and they need us to file joint?). After this person blames me twice my husband gets angry and tells her it was NEVER my idea to file separate, that we could care less how we file, and that we just wanted the most money for our tax return! Heather was the one who told us we would get more money if we filed separate and we just followed her advice. The conversation ends with NO APOLOGY and with this woman telling him she is sending our returns back to us and to take our taxes elsewhere to have them amended. At this point, it's been over a week and we are still waiting for our old tax stubs to arrive at our house so we can take them somewhere else to have the mess Tax Help created for us cleaned up. We will NEVER return to Tax Help and strongly advise you avoid doing so too. read more

I had all paperwork to get my taxes reviewed and processed correctly but found their process rushed and they missed several important details by not reviewing my previous years tax return. I got processed in less then a half an hour. They were not patient when asking for documentation and quickly glossed over important areas. This cost me time and money from work and I still had to pay them after they admitedly made a mistake by not taking into account about repayment of an FHA loan. Never again. read more

Extremely unhappy. I emailed in a question about whether I could deduct medical expenses- if I could, I would need help preparing my taxes and if not I could file for free online. I waited two weeks, and after no response I called to follow up. I was told I would have o schedule an appointment I still wasn't sure I needed. I went to my appointment, was rushed through the filing process, finally asked my question and was told I couldn't deduct. My appointment lasted less than 10minutes and I was charged $90.00. I could have filed on my own for free. Very disappointed in customer service, communication, and pricing - especially because the person who recommended Tax Help to me was charged only half of what I was for the same forms. read more

This place is a joke. The worst place to do your taxes. We went there to do our taxes for 2011 and 2012, both time we had to wait for at least half hour even though we had taken an appointment. This year we had enough when we had to wait for 45 minutes and still couldn't get anybody to help us. We had an appointment at 12:30pm, we got there at 12:20 and we waited and waited until 1:10pm and they did not even acknowledge at all, the two ladies at the reception just sat there and did not say a word. My wife had not eaten anything and she started to feel dizzy so I got up and asked what's going on and they were not even sorry at all and just said that it will be little bit more longer...WHAT'S THE POINT OF SETTING UP AN APPOINTMENT??? They are little bit cheaper than other big Tax places but it's not worth it...as a matter of fact I found another place where I could do my taxes and they were just as cheap and got it done right away...So look for other places...don't go here!! read more
