i would give this a zero star if i could. LACK OF COMMUNICATION!!!! Got their information from a friend of mine who has been going to tax wizards for years and he's had no problem with them so i decided to give it a try. Everything was going well until i received my tax forms and noticed that they put the wrong first name and missed a W-2 on my taxes and notified the number i've been texting. they said they would get back to me since david was out for whatever reason so i let a few days pass and texted and called again and they said they would follow up with david. it's been a few days again and taxes are supposed to be submitted by april 15 and HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATE. where i missed up was that i paid david before even receiving my tax forms. if i would of knew that they were going to mess up on my forms, i wouldn't have paid a dime until i received and checked that everything was correct. i didn't do anything wrong. i sent them all the information that was needed. they should of checked multiple times on their end to see if everything was correct. 0 stars read more

David is very unprofessional - likes to blame his client/staff for every mistake & will never own up or take accountability for his actions. He does not answer the phone, texts, or emails the only way to get a response from this man would be to write a bad review as you can see here those are the only reviews he responds to, he is FULL of nothing but excuses & NO solutions. David seems to be a pretty pleasant and knowledgeable guy. So much so, I didn't feel the need to check yelp for a run down on other's experience. With the referral of a friend of mine and a solid phone introduction my wife and I went into this assured we would fair better than our previous tax preparer. After waiting almost an hour with a 2 month old baby we are brought into David's office...no, actually after letting the receptionist know we're ready to leave because even with an appointment my wife and I have waited for about an hour with a 2 month old baby, we were brought into David's office by one of his staff. Apparently there was an issue with "whoever" about "whatever," it really doesn't matter because I made an appointment for a reason. So we sit down, go through all the "this is what we're going to do and how we're going to do it" and "this is how great my staff is"....I'm not going to bash the actual face-to-face experience because David was all in all professional while we are there...but I wish I had given more consideration as to how/why we spent the majority of our non-waiting to be seen time talking about non-tax return matters. Which is a great explanation as to why the address on my wife's filing was wrong. I was going to David for taxes for about 5-6 years . It just started declining really bad. The first bad year he or his assistants{he doesn't take responsibility for mistakes} made an error for banking info so it took awhile to get my return. The next year i forgot to give a form to him so we had to amend my taxes no biggie it was my fault i didn't care . When they filed my amended taxes they didn't include the correct form so i waited a whole year to find out that they filed it wrong . The irs was backed up so that's why it took so long to find out they did it wrong. David did apologize but blamed it on the staff and myself for even having to amend my taxes in the first place . He gets NEW staff EVERY YEAR, why ? no idea but that was the reason he blamed the mistakes on. Down the This year we talked and he was supposed to file an extension on my taxes and didn't file anything at all and i'm finding this out because i wanted him to go ahead and file my taxes, as he told me to call him when i'm ready. He is not answering any of my phone calls or texts . I had to call the IRS to find out nothing was ever filed . I trusted him and his company for way too long giving him benefit of the doubt and even recommending people to him when it was good . I will no longer be doing so, save your time and money and go to a more professional Tax person . read more

Let me start David is good but not great. He is strictly in this to help himself and sometimes will do so by overcharging or making it seem like you are getting a great service return. That's not all the case you will get stuck paying extra fees which range from the additional fees like process, bank and for some reason direct deposit even when you ask for a check Find someone else. You will get the same return no matter what for cheaper. There's a tax service near him just google it. read more

I honestly don't know where to begin!!! Since 2008, I've filed my taxes with E-tax services in Anaheim, CA but this year, I went a different route. I was having a conversation with a good friend and mentioned that I haven't filed my taxes yet with 10 days till the deadline. My friend referred me to David McGee of Tax Wizards. He told me to give him a call and to make an appointment. Due to series of unfortunate events, I didnt have reliable transportation so my friend offered to give me a ride. I called David Saturday afternoon and he suggested that I should make an appointment but I told him my dilemma with mobility and that I would be carpooling with a friend from Anaheim. He was trying to arrange for Sunday but I was unavailable(because I need JESUS in my life and I attend church on Sundays) LOL! So David said it was okay for me to come in on Saturday but he would have to squeeze me in. My friend and I drove in from Anaheim around late afternoon. After buzzing at the intercom, we were shortly greeted by David who then introduced us to his Wizette. She then took my 2 forms of ID and W-2 forms. We then waited in the Lobby for about an hour or so.. Idk I was knocked out on the comfortable chairs. We then went into his office and was introduced to his other Wizette, Monica. David then filed my taxes very efficiently. Him and his staff are helpful, professional, very down to earth and not to mention FUNNY. My boyfriend was recommended by a few of his co-workers, to visit David and have his income tax prepared by him. My boyfriend telephoned The Tax Wizard's office and was able to schedule an appointment immediately; without a hassle. The Tax Wizard is conveniently located in Torrance, and since Old Torrance is only a few blocks west...it was another plus for us to visit Torrance Bakery. My boyfriend and I, arrived at The Tax Wizard's office building and were in awe of how nice, clean, and neat the office was. We were promptly greeted by David and Nikki, his office assistant. David processed my boyfriend's income tax in a timely fashion and expressed a lot of professionalism. We also met Vanessa; another office assistant, and she was extremely professional as well. This is my second year using David's service and I hate to say this but I'm disappointed. Last year, his staff made the mistake by entering incorrect account info for my direct deposit. This issue was resolved once I realized it on my 1099. This year, David told me that I would be getting my refund in a week and I still haven't received my funds. I filed my takes with David on 2/18/18 and I cannot even find a record of my filing using 'Where's My Refund' on the IRS website. I e-mailed his staff on 3 times, left 2 voicemails and David still hasn't returned my call. What's worse is that David has taken the time to respond to reviews here on Yelp and I still haven't received a call back regarding the status of my refund. What's the deal David? read more

So today I had the pleasure of meeting David! He squeezed me in to do my taxes the day before they are due. His lovely assistant greeted me & began to process my information as soon as I arrived. My past experiences doing taxes was a timely and expensive process, so I expected the same. However, I was completely wrong! I only had two W-2s, so nothing too complicated. He made it his goal to get me back as much as he could, and I am so thankful for that. Like I said my past experiences, it seemed as if they were only trying to do the bare minimum of their job. I seriously felt like I was having a friend do my taxes. He took the time to ask me about my day, and personalize the appointment. I would also like to mention he is absolutely hilarious! Would have been my second year doing my taxes here. Excellent job if you can actually get a phone call answered. I ran into the same issue as I did last time. I showed up 15 min early and checked in with the front desk. I sat in the waiting room for 45 min without one person coming to let me know that I would be seen or to acknowledge that I was there. I wasted a day that I could have been working. The only reason I didn't give 1 Star is that the job is good quality but the service surrounding it is awful. Better communication with clients and maybe hire better staff to attend to clients whether it's updating on the wait or responding to voicemails, texts and phone calls. This is my second year coming back to David, as i was referred to him by a good friend of mine. 1st time i was there he charged me twice for the preparation , when i called him about it he was very good about refunding me in a timely fashion. This 2nd time going there has been by far the worst experience EVER deff not worth going there again. My husband and I filed with him going on 4 weeks ago . The day we were there hes printer went down he stated he would email me my husbands paperwork that same day...NEVER received anything! Ive been calling speaking to staff (olivia) they say they will send it yet nothing! Spoke to David the begining of this week he swore he would call me in 1 hr to go over my husbands forms..didnt hear from him after 5 hrs so i called back and olivia stated he left fpr the day... He had processed my husbands forms the same day i did mine 4 weeks ago, yet he was clueless and started telling me all this other crap about filing his taxes and what he owed ....Im like wait up he did them already all i need is for u to email me the copy of the forms you submitted!!! How hard is that? My info was not even appearing on the IRS web page until he sent them whatever piece of informatiom missing so im still waiting on the IRS to accept my return cause he just literally submitted. Im very disappointed its taken me over 7 calls with messages No answers maybe talked to someone 2 times & nothing is getting resolved! read more
