Sent a request on Yelp and received a quote I was OK with from Philip. The firm is conveniently located near downtown Monterey Park and has a private lot. Receptionist collected all my paperwork and offered me water as I wait. I worked directly with Tracy Xu who did a great job filing my 2019 taxes and preparing amendments on behalf of me for previous years. Tracy is also very responsive to phone calls and sends me paperwork to review via email. My experience with this service was very rushed and unorganized. Let's start with everything prior to the appointment. Setting up an appointment was very easy and fast. The response rate was fast but I was given no instruction on what was needed for my appointment. Next the actual appointment. Turns out that I needed to print out my forms. It's 2023, man. All of my stuff was digital so I wasted about 10-20 minutes trying to email these forms to the accountant. After that, It felt rushed. I had to constantly remind the accountant about the forms I had. It felt like she thought she was done when she entered my W-2. What's the point in going to an accountant if I only have my W-2? I could've had my taxes done for free with turbotax or whatever if I only had my W-2. After going through my forms. There were no questions asked by the accountant if I had anything else to share or if she thought I was missing something. I don't know if that's standard procedure and, if it is not, it should be. After the appointment, I had a few more questions regarding the taxes after my appointment. So I shot them an email. There was some confusion on both ends but, in the end, I was ignored. After weeks of waiting for an email response, I decided to go into their office to ask the same question only to have my question answered within 5 minutes. WOW. Filed my taxes here today and had a good experience. Krystal was friendly and took the time to personally walk through my tax items with me. The staff speaks both Chinese and English, and are knowledgeable in both. I did wait slightly longer than I should've because the receptionist did not communicate I was waiting to file my taxes, until I asked a 2nd time. I came here to file my 2020 taxes and had a pleasant experience with Jeff. He was very thorough and asked questions to ensure everything was being filled out properly. I referred to my invoice and saw that I was charged $55 for an individual file that year. I came back here to file my 2021 taxes, filing with the same 1040 individual form I was shocked that the rate went up to $100. As another reviewer said, Jeff is no longer with the firm. I was disappointed to discover this as I preferred him to do my taxes since I had a good experience with him last time. I called before coming in and a lady picked up the phone. I asked if they had availability to come in and she says "Sorry, I have a client, will you call back later, so sorry." That's fine, but at least suggest the next best time for me to come because how am I supposed to know when that will be? I presumed to head directly there and when I showed up I guess I got lucky the accountant was finished with her previous client and was available. To the staff of Philip K Yeung, CPA: I have filed my taxes with your firm for 2019, "Philip K Yeung, CPA", and I have called to see if I could speak to any available cpa who can assist me in reading my field income tax. I was told that no one is available and to call back Monday. The staff member "Female", asked is there something that she can help me with. I asked her a very simple question since I don't know how to read my filed income tax that was filed. I wanted to know what was the total income that was filed and what was adjusted income, where do I find this on what was field, what line item. The staff member who didn't provide her name "female" kept saying to me to look at "line number 8", it so easy, and then look at schedule c, 1099, and whatever. The staff member kept saying it was easy to read, as well as look at the forms. The staff member said to me she has no time, she is busy and you are so eager to hang up! It is easy, and keep saying to me she is busy! To the staff member aka "no name female", if it was so easy, why would I call your firm to ask this question? I just hope that when your are needing help for something that you need answered, that you are treated like your treat others! If you are going to ask "Philip K Yeung, CPA, customers", "what can I help you with?", and then later say you're too busy, and you have no time. DON'T BROTHER ASKING, you need to be educated! To Philip, aka Owner: You have not only lost my business entirely but others that I know who goes to you! I have a few Corporation and couple of personals that I was going to use you for, unfortunately, this isn't going to happen! Philip when I was speaking to you originally and asked how much it would be to filed with your firm, you mentioned $60, then at the time to pay, your firm charged me either $100 or $125 for a basic filed. Was looking for a CPA nearby to do file my tax return. I normally would not write poor reviews but not this time, they should close their business for good. Extremely poor service and attitude. Worst experience ever. The CPA was late for 30 minutes and did not even give any notice or apologize. The girl at the front desk served the guy who walked in / did not make an appointment and kept avoiding my question, very rude and unprofessional. You will regret using their service. I gave them my 2015 w2 to do my tax. They say will call me once the w2 is reviewed. Never heard from them after 2 week. So, I call them telling them I need to get my return done before the tax due day. They never called or file an extension for me. So, I got angry and call them if they need any more tax info. They said no. So, they setup an appointment to go into their office to review and discuss all the details. I took a day off from work to go to the appointment because they told me their appointment are all booked except on the Monday and told I was lucky to that they can fit me in. I went there on Monday and the Jenny, so call accountant sat me down. When she look into my w2 & other document she say she don't have enough information, they need 2014 from my previous account that close down. She told me to get them all the info from 2014 before they can do anything. I found a copy of my 2014 tax return and send it to them a day later and called them if they finish with my tax return. Jenny said she also need more info like bank statement. I told them she should of ask them for all this info when I drop off my w2 at the beginning. Jenny told me they were busy and can't get to me. I say it been 3 week already and you didn't even ask me for the require doc from 2014. She say:" it's up to me if I want to use their business or not, that is how they are". We hang up! I thought that's all but no. She found my # from their database and text me her picture taken with Leroy Baca, the force retired Sheriff chief. I didn't reply. I was thinking, I just want to do my 2015 tax, she took it so personal. I also gave her my SSN, personal address and ID. You guys make the decision if you can trust her and her business. read more
