Taylor is an amazing guy, and an incredible photographer. From the start he made us feel comfortable, it was like a photoshoot with an old friend. By the end of the night we didn't want him to leave-- he was part of the family. And the photos were magical-- he really captured the essence of our guests and of us. Taylor is the real deal. He has taken our engagement photos, wedding photos, and now family photos... and it's not for a lack of photographer options, it's just that he is simply the best. In an age of feeling like everyone is a photographer, there is great comfort on your wedding day knowing that Taylor is professionally trained. Our ceremony was in a beautiful old church where lighting was a challenge (stained glass, low light, beautiful dark wood everywhere). The church coordinator warned "Make sure your photographer knows what he's doing... some people don't have any good photographs of their ceremony here because their photographer isn't sure how to adjust for this setting". Taylor had the gear and the expertise and made it seem like no big deal. Our photos in that venue are incredible. Years ago, I freelanced in the wedding industry doing flowers and first encountered Taylor professionally at a wedding in Point Loma. I was struck by his calm and steady demeanor and kindness toward everyone he came in contact. He guided a grandmother toward the family photo, directed his second shooter, and was timely to get all the shots the bride and groom requested. I remember thinking "I'm going to remember this guy for my own wedding someday..." Taylor is not the cheapest- and frankly this is an area where cheap is a bad thing! When I walk by our framed photos in our hallways, I am reminded that he was worth every penny. There are some things that should not be skimped on, and documenting big life events is one of them. How often do you find a vendor that you work with who you actually like so much that once they have completed their work you find yourself somewhat saddened because they have moved onto their next project? That is pretty rare. My wife and I found ourselves feeling this way after Taylor shot our wedding in Sept. 2012. Not only is his work exceptional, but he is such a fantastic person. He is professional, responsive, friendly, adventurous and passionate about his work. He shot our engagement photos and was willing to take a field trip with us up to Mt. Laguna and Julian. We were having such a great time with him that we went wine tasting while we were shooting pics in Julian. Not a bad way at all to spend an afternoon shooting some engagement pics. For our wedding day, he traveled up to Ojai with his assistant. He showed up smiling and fit right in with everyone making us all comfortable for photos. You can tell he sincerely loves his job. Taylor Abeel is so absolutely amazing words won't do him justice! His photos are beyond spectacular and we will cherish them for the rest of our lives, but Taylor is truly the nicest, most genuine person that you will meet. From the moment that we sat down to meet Taylor he paid such special attention to what we were looking for and really made us feel confident in his abilities, we spent about 1.5 hours talking and getting to know each other just for our introductory meeting! Wow, picking a wedding photographer can be hard work. Through viewing online portfolio after portfolio you have to decide on a person who is going to capture your most important day ever. Not only do you want to find someone who has a style of photography that will be timeless; who can capture the enjoyment, and excitement of the event, you also want someone that you get along with as you will be spending most of your day with them. I had a strong idea of the look I wanted, and found it difficult to find in many wedding photographers. In Taylor's work I found what I was looking for. His photos had a light, ethereal feel and I loved how he captured the couples candidly, not in the standard, stiff and posed styles you often see. Of course there are always the standard portraits of which he is great at organizing and corralling your family members. My fiancé (now husband!) and I met with Taylor at a bar before an engagement session and I know we both felt like we struck gold. He is very easy going and friendly and we got along great. After that meeting we felt confident about hiring him for our big day. (not to mention the engagement shots turned out wonderfully) On the wedding day Taylor arrived early to scout out the locations, and came to us right on time. He shot so many photos and was always pleasant and smiling. He popped up all over the place throughout the evening and was able to handle our 130 person wedding with ease on his own. We are very pleased that we selected Taylor Abeel to capture our wedding memories. Taylor was recommended to us by a wedding consultant. Our first conversation with him convinced us that he would be our choice. He didn't try to pressure us into any decision but rather made sure he would be able to meet our expectations. As he captured our informal meet and greet party the evening before our wedding, he was unobtrusive yet able to catch all of the action as well as accommodating all our friends' and relatives' special requests. When we were looking through his website, we knew that we absolutely loved Taylor's work. He is clearly a phenomenal photographer. Less than a minute into our first Skype session we knew we absolutely loved Taylor himself. He was the first, and only, photographer we spoke with - we knew he was going to be perfect for us and for our wedding.
