She knows her stuff and can utilize many resources, adequately refers patients when needed, and takes time to ensure all your questions are answered. She genuinely cares about her patients, which has been rare in my experience. I highly recommend Dr B to anyone!

I was told to get all of my medical records from my previous doctor concerning a particular blood count which is deficient without medication. So I provided the paperwork and they said insurance wouldn't accept it. This doctor ordered new blood work which was much worse than my previous diagnosis. Still can't get my prescription. Insurance said this office withdrew their prior authorization (PA) for the medication I was sent to have bloodwork for to prove that I needed the medication. I've had multiple visits, paid multiple copays, insurance has paid them and I still cannot get my medication. Someone is either lying or incompetent. I've never been to a "professional" office that is run so poorly. It's been over 8 months and I still don't have my medication and the staff seems to find my suffering comical. So far the only staff I have been able to speak with is the receptionist who has no interest in helping me. I came yesterday and of course no one was there except her to speak with. I was told the person I needed to see would be back this morning, so I'm back this morning and have been sitting here for over an hour and still no one to speak with although I've seen the staff member who ordered my bloodwork walk by the door. No one here will speak to me although they have been compensated multiple times. What do they call it when a doctor bills insurance but doesn't provide the service but they keep charging you and insurance for visits without following through with the service? The photo is a constant reminder of my level of care at this office.

She was in terrible pain and could not even walk from the parking lot to the office. She could not catch her breath and was so weak that she couldn't get into my vehicle without help. She has lung cancer and has been through radiation and is seeing an orthopedic doctor for her shoulder pain. But this was something different. I wheeled her into the office in a wheelchair and told the receptionist that she was weak, short of breath, and in awful pain, which of course still her shoulder was still causing her pain. Dr. Hickman just assumed it was her shoulder and told the nurse to tell her to contact her orthopedic dr. He didn't even look at her or have her vital signs checked. He just had the nurse send her away! My sister was in tears when we left! This was his URGENT CARE part of his practice. When we got home, we took her temp, and she had a low-grade fever. I'm not a doctor, but we assume she has the flu or even maybe covid. If the office had even bothered to assess her, they might have found out that she needed some kind of treatment. I am astonished at the (non) treatment she received yesterday. What an awful, uncaring doctor. Makes me sick.

This place is close to home and we're glad we found someone we can trust. Dr. Scott graduate from University of Alabama Schl of Medicine - Birmingham and did his residency at the Naval Hospital - Pensacola do local is as local does, big props for taking care of the veterans and their families, thank you! They have a very friendly, proficient and professional staff with lots of nurse practitioners and others to meet most every need and the offices and exam rooms are pleasant and modern. They have a very cool app for making your appointment: https://ascensionhealth.inquicker.com/family-medicine/al/gulf-shores The wait time once arriving for your appointment is usually within reason and the doc take his time to listen to your issues and both asks good questions and gives good advice and explanations. This is more than adequate for any primary care physician and I think we found a keeper. Bottom line: Finding a good primary doctor is really important because when you need to get specialists involved you PCP acts as the arbiter of all of your medical needs and if or she doesn't then find another one. This doctor is sharp and on the ball. Recommended!

When I went to pick it up the milligrams were doubled!!! Still no conversation from anyone at the office! And just now I get a notice from the pharmacy saying my prescription did not have any refills so they would call the doctors office. So I remember in all the papers I had to complete one section said they would not approve from the pharmacy that I would have to contact. I didn't think that would be an issue because the order for refills should be automatic from the doctor when I was seen in August! Also I kept receiving a bill for $170 so I contacted my insurance and they said nothing had been submitted. So I contacted the office and they said to ignore as the IT department was working on it. That was around the first of September, however the end of September I received another notice so I contacted them again. The woman answering the phone was short and curt and seemed to be reading from a script, saying my insurance information didn't transfer so she will submit it now! This is so frustrating as a new patient! I am so thankful I am not a sickly person!
