I have always found the service & selection at the S Battlefield store to be very good. The employees are more knowledgeable & helpful than the big box stores. Their prices may be a little higher, but still reasonable. Whenever I have a question about a part or item, I'll go to Taylor's. read more

EVERY time we shop in this store, we are greeted by a sincere, friendly, and professional employee. Totally unlike a "big box" store, we can quickly find what we need, or we can take our time and stroll around. In the springtime, the flowers are healthy and a good price. And during the unexpected 11-inch snowfall in February 2025, Taylor's had the perfect snow shovel at a reasonable price. Definitely our go-to store for everything we need. read more

So an update! After the horrible experience at this Taylor's on Battlefield, when they had to order me the Warranty part that broke only after a week of use, 3 months later the part came in and it was a cheap plastic like the part that broke. Guess what....it broke yet again. HEY STIHL, perhaps conduct some testing on these weak (high failure point) areas and design a better part. Now I am stuck with a dilemma, as the weed blower is JUNK, I have 3 batteries which cost more than the blower. Trash it all and buy a better brand or buy another Stihl blower and risk it breaking AGAIN. My electric blower never had these issues, may just go back to it and throw the Stihl products away. read more

Walked here on a lunch break with a coworker during COVID, evidenced by lots of social distancing signage, blue tape on the floor for checkout spacing, and toilet paper/paper towel rolls being sold a la carte at the front of the store (limit 2 of each). It's a hometown hardware store with less stock and higher prices than Lowe's and Home Depot. Plenty of parking in shared shopping center lot. Some persnickety employees (grumpy old men) but majority are friendly, helpful when available. Place is well kept, fairly clean, and pretty easy to navigate. A co-worker needed some random bolts, a soldering iron, and a few electronic ends. I was looking for a 9/16" LH threaded bolt or tap to repair a bike. I struck out but he scored his hardware bounty. Not a wasted trip, especially on foot during a lunch break. If you absolutely need something for a home repair or improvement project but don't have time to search all over, this may not be the one stop you choose. read more

Since moving to Chesapeake 3 years ago I've been buying my garden starter plants here. The plants have been consistently well developed and healthy and considerably cheaper than the big box stores up by the interstate. I've also picked up some other garden accessories here as well such as nets for pole beans and an awesome all metal sprinkler last year. In addition I have another story to share regarding one of locksmiths here. Last spring (2018) I had a very old key that I needed duplicated and they were unable to do it as blanks aren't made for that type of key anymore and they were out of them. The locksmith went the extra mile and let me know about another locksmith in the city that could help me out. He didn't have to do that, and it was very appreciated. Great place, friendly people. I'll be using them for years to come. read more

They sell chicken coops people! Chicken coops! But you're probably not going to Taylor's for a chicken coop--you're probably going there for an around-the-house pieces part that you need and you either 1) don't want to drive all the way to the big box home improvement center to get it, or 2) you just want to support a local small business. Both options are good ones and you'll leave satisfied knowing you did either or both. However . . . Don't come to Taylor's expecting to find a unique widget for a broken piece of whatever you have. It's likely Taylor's won't have it...and if they do, it will probably be more expensive than at a big box store. For me, walking in to Taylor's and oftentimes smelling the popcorn they have for their customers brings back some very fond memories of shopping at the five and dime when I was a kid. Keep some reasonable shopping expectations before you walk through the door and you'll enjoy their friendly staff and limited selection. read more

We came here on a Sunday morning in search for mulch and grass seeds. They had a sale on mulch and most of the bags were placed outside in front of the doors. However, I noticed most of the bags had water trapped inside and so I decided to forgo the mulch. I did see a good amount of inventory on grass seed and grass food. The employees were very nice and the store was very clean. Hubby was excited to see they sold chicken coops here. read more

Recently visited the Taylor's in Great Bridge to buy several items and thought they might be nice enough to shake some paint cans I was getting ready to use. No such luck. Not a very neighborly policy much less feeling like "family" as is their slogan. You would think that neighborhood hardware stores like this would go above and beyond to keep their long-time patrons but no such luck here. Very disappointing. read more

Don't go to the Battlefield location if you want to stay protected from COVID-19. Many customers did not wear masks at all. Most of the employees didn't wear masks properly to include their nose being covered. The cashier even took off her mask to speak to a customer. Come on guys!! read more

First off, I've been coming here for years and am always very pleased with the variety of merchandise offered, as well as the pleasant service given. You won't find this level of service at any big box store. I am especially pleased when I come in with a home repair issue or need to find a specific item and see John working. He is a gem of the Great Bridge store! John is a wealth of knowledge, always greats you with a warm smile and is always eager to help. He takes his time to listen and then makes sure you have everything you need to complete your project or repair. If you have any reason to visit the store and are in need of help, request to have John help you. You won't be disappointed! read more

Although I find this store to be slightly over priced, it always has what I'm looking for even when Lowe's or Home Depot doesn't. The staff is helpful and friendly and I enjoy stopping in here. It is also very convenient! read more
