Honestly, any place that can sell fishing bait, as well as have one of the best wine selections I have seen in North Carolina, it right up my alley, so of course Taylor's Wine Shop is perfect! While I did not check out the live bait selection this time, the wine portion was fantastic. Situated a stones throw off of 540 in Raleigh, this store is super convenient if you are driving through as I am often doing from the Triad to the Eastern part of the state. I had heard of Taylor's from a podcast, and finally made it into the store. The state was super friendly and was excited to be able to help me out with a few suggestions for a party I was going to! Just a great selection of things that are unique and the gentleman helping me knew about multiple bottles he showed me. Certainly go in and have a conversation with them and you may come out with something new you really enjoy! Absolutely the best fuel and convenience store I've seen in a long time. So clean, friendly staff and the owner for all these years take pride in his business and it shows. I was unable to find a wine in my area (northern VA), but Taylor's had it, which is only a few miles from our son's house in Raleigh. I ordered 4 bottles of the wine online and, within minutes, I got a call from Courtney at the shop that they only had 2 bottles in stock, but could order more and they would be there in a few days. She also confirmed the address (given the VA address, but I requested pickup) and I told her that my son lives locally and would pick up the wine. I gave her the ok to order the wine and, as promised, 2 days later, I got the confirmation that the wine had arrived, PLUS both a call AND email from Courtney to confirm and to ask for my son's name to ensure that they gave it to the right person. My son reported that he picked up the wine the same day with no issues at all. Thanks to Courtney and the staff for their diligence and excellent customer service!- I plan on checking out the store in person next time we're in Raleigh. read more

I came across a picture of Hunky Dory wine. Coincidentally, I call my husband Hunky Dory, (he's a hunk and I adore him) so the search was on! I found this wine online at Taylor's Wine Shop in Raleigh. Sadly, the website said there was 5 bottle minimum to ship. I reached out via their email and explained the reason I wanted it was for the name and our anniversary was coming up. Ben Cash emailed me back immediately and said no problem! It delivered only 3 days later. Our anniversary isn't until August but I was so excited, I could only hide it for two days. He loved it! Like many during these COVID times, my husband has decided to perfect his cocktail crafting game. So when he googled "orange bitters in Raleigh" we never expected to be routed to a wine store attached to a BP station. I have driven past this store before and thought it might be cute; reminder to put on my Yelp bookmarks. But I never did. So glad we ended up here today as we obtained aforementioned orange bitters, plus I was able to get a nice sparkling white wine, cute wine bag, local toffee and Virginia peanuts for an anniversary gift bag for a friend that I was dropping off later, social distancing style! The store is clean, the staff are friendly and I want to go back already to try wine tasting when we can. It wasn't clear if they are currently doing that. We love Taylor's! Great local place that is right off of the highway and is a bit of a surprise inside. They have an extensive wine selection (hubby likes that), very cool T-shirt's (given as gifts), a small cafe, gas service and more. The restrooms are spotless and the entire establishment is A+. Oh scoff on while I sip on....while listening to local music at their parking lot party. i hear you still snickering. Just go hang out on a Friday night, when they conduct wine tastings and you will see that they know a thing or two about good wine. And yes, they have some wines in a can that were perfectly easy on the tastebuds for an improptu get together or to throw in a cooler for a tailgate moment. They do the range from slay your wallet expensive to knock back a few and have a good time. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Went in for the first time which will also be my last. On 12/08/22 around 2:25 is when I went in and the two women working behind the counter were insanely rude. A lot of the customers are stopping by to get something to make their day better, so having the two of them be so insanely rude to the patrons is just not good business practice. I was yelled at about which register I walked to. Like come on. "Oh I'm actually over here, sorry about that!" That's not hard. "She can help you over there. Great hidden gem! A good well priced wine store out of the way full of good wine and bait (I absolutely loved the idea of a wine and bait shop. It was so quintessentially North Carolina to me). My friend and I found this beer and wine tasting on Eventbrite and didn't think anything out of the ordinary. We'd go and try some wines in a regular wine shop in North Raleigh, right? Put the address in the GPS and when we drove by this gas station on the left, we were told we missed it. Did a double take. The sign clearly was advertising the tasting. Turned around. Parked and went in. This place was happening. It's more a Wine Shop that hosts a gas station on the side. The shop has a vast collection of wine from all around, but the wine shop owner makes it a point to promote locally owned or managed vineyards, but also support people from NC doing wine in other places. The tasting was a wonderful selection of four wines -- 2 whites and 2 reds. I can't drink beer so I didn't get any of that, but the cans looked beautiful. We were super impressed. If I lived around the corner, this would be my go-to. Taylor's Wine Shop is terrific. I also appreciated that their gas station has free air, since my tires got low. read more

their services are above and beyond. a couple of days ago my mother and I were just stopping to get gas and realized my mother left her wallet and phone on the roof of the car. we gave the store a call to see if anyone had turned the items in. the said they would've jeep an eye out before we got there. when we pulled in, they had found both the wallet and phone. and the walked out into traffic just to get it out of the middle of the road. absolute life savers. we are very appreciative. and I bet their wine collection is great as well, but I'll give that review when I'm 21. read more

Due to my own ineptitude, i accidentally ordered a bottle of wine from this business online to be delivered to my home in the northeast. Immediately recognizing my error (i thought i was ordering locally) i immediately emailed Taylors wine shop several times with my order number asking that it be cancelled. No response, and i see now my wine is in the mail. While i take responsibility for my own error, i would have appreciated at the very least some kind of response, even if only to clarify a no return policy or something. Not hearing anything back at all makes me feel like Taylor's is not only is happy to make (very minor) profit off my mistake, but that my efforts to correct it aren't even worthy of acknowledgement. I suppose, as an out of state customer ordering a single bottle, they are not motivated to care about me anyway. But still, perhaps worthy of a one star yelp review: a futile effort from a beaten man. read more

Unassuming convenience store on the outside is actually a very cool wine and beer store on the inside with a vast selection--from canned wine for a few dollars up to bottle are $150.00. This is a wine shop carefully disguised as a gas station. If you are looking for local (to the state) beer and even out of state craft beers? This is your place. The staff is always knowledgeable and can steer you in the right direction depending on taste buds and even price. While my Hubby and I like to have a casual drink every once in a while, we were tired of the same old, same old. Thanks to Taylor's we can go in and come out with something new to try. I work off from Six Forks rd and I would frequent this establishment for gas, propane, beer etc. Their prices are extremely high but I am willing to pay more for the convenience. That is up until today. I went to purchase an item for $1.38 and was informed there is a $3.00 minimum to use your bank card. Really...With the prices they charge? I went down the street and bought the same item for 79 cents. The girl behind the counter has always been unfriendly and today was extremely rude.
