We contacted Home Care Assistance who came and met with us to assess the level of care required and to find a caregiver with the required skill set to appropriately take care of my mother. They found 2 caregivers within a day and reviewed their qualifications and experience with us. We requested an interview with one of the caregivers which was immediately set up. After selecting the caregiver, our Client Manager accompanied her on the first day and stayed a while to ensure a smooth transition. Our Client Manager keeps in contact with us regularly to make sure things are going well and if there is anything additional she and the team can do to assist. It's hard enough deciding it's time to get a loved one some help, so choosing a home care provider is a very important decision. We are very happy with the care and interest Home Care Assistance staff and personnel have supplied with the care of my mother. In a fast moving world with numerous responsibilities to attend to daily, it's very comforting to know that there is someone there taking good care of my mother and to ensure she has everything she needs. In addition to finding qualified help, it was very reassuring to discover the honesty of our caregiver as well. With my mother's dementia and confusion that comes with it, she paid her caregiver $50 cash her first day. The caregiver brought it to my attention and handed me the money. I was so grateful for her honesty as many people these days could have easily kept it.

Danielle helped our family through a difficult time. She is competent, professional and empathetic and was able to get us the help we needed in one day. My brother was recently diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Although he was approved for Hospice, the hospital would not discharge him until we had hired an aide for additional hours. Due to Covid, there is a shortage of health care aides. We found a facility, but they had to cancel us due to staffing problems and another facility canceled when the aide had been exposed to Covid and had to quarantine. That occurred the day before my brother was supposed to be discharged. Needless to say, he was very disappointed. We were referred to yet another facility, who could not help us, but did put me in touch with Danielle. She worked with me throughout the day, patiently answering all of my questions and helping me navigate through the process of getting the help we needed. Thanks to Danielle, my brother is going home, today, only a day later than what had been scheduled with the facility that had to cancel! We have been in touch with others at Home Care Assistance and have been pleased, so far! Thank you, Danielle!

Please make sure you know what your doing before calling this company. There nurse Christy quit and I was never notified. I got a call from a second agency I use, Bayada, and they sent a nurse over to cover this agencies responsibility. I actually had to fill out all the paperwork for the Cordinator because they didn't know how to even do that. Then I had to train this nurse Christy because they don't train them on how to care for the client. They only had two days to cover and couldn't even manage to do that. If you need a great agency please call Bayada. They train all there nurses prior to sending them out to clients. Then the nurse is trained in the clients home by a nurse that's worked here and knows the case without leaving up to family members to train a nurse that doesn't seem to know what a nurse should know. Save your loved one from safe and sound. I now fired the agency.

Everyone is so helpful and caring. She's involved in the many daily activities. These include movies, cards, bingo, "happy hour", frequent outside trips and local entertainer performances. I signed a contract to a different location in Nassau County prior to him visiting what would have been his new home and community. Needless to say, my father father was miserable in the place I signed him up for. He stated that no one showed up for the scheduled activities and it lacked social interaction with his new peers. My father and I were still grieving the loss of my sister, he had been through so much in a short period of time, including the fact that he moved away from his friends and home in Florida by moving to New York. It was crucial that we found the place my dad could happily call home. I researched many communities, however, this time I had the benefit of bringing my dad on the tours so that he could decide for himself where he wished to settle in. The Arbors was his pick! Lisa gave us the tour and my father was warmly greeted by the staff as well as the fellow residents. The Arbors offers a plethora of activities everyday and my father is hardly in his room. It's a warm and friendly environment. The staff is attentive and my mind is at ease since I know that my father's medical needs are addressed. My father has been residing in The Arbors since 2023 and continues to tell family and friends that he is "living his best life" and has absolutely "no complaints". He has a beautiful apartment, which is cleaned everyday by the staff...it's as if he's living on a cruise ship, except it's on land! She came three hours late, when she was supposed to be at Plainview Hospital at 9am. She could talk about her son in great deal about how he was going out with a girl who had aides. She neglected my mom for three hours and my mom had to call up the agency to find out where she was. If anything bad would have happened, the aid would have gone to jail for neglect and the agency would have been held accountable legally. She also neglected my mom towards at the end of her life at Plainview Hospital. She went out for three hours, instead with my mom. My father came in the hospital room and didn't find her. She came back within hours and threw out of the room. On June 14 2024, my mom fell on the dining room floor. The aide Joyce didn't follow my father's instructions not to walk alone with her. Joyce the aide didn't call 911 and the agency. My father who I a retired physician did.

Worst home health care agency I've ever dealt with -- wish I could give zero or negative stars. I…read moreonly give 1 or 2 stars in extreme cases, and this certainly warrants that. Miscommunication or more like NO COMMUNICATION by care coordinators, Liz & Kim and aides that just wouldn't show up -- or ones that just came unannounced. And since I didn't know anyone was scheduled to come twice I was out running errands and my loved one had no way of answering the door. One such aide, Monique, arrived and made such a screaming, profanity yelling tantrum at the guard booth that I had neighbors calling asking if everything was ok. Thank God I live in a gated community but with this young woman's temper I wouldn't want her in my home. She showed up to work the next day only to leave my loved one unattended to make a personal phone call outside while I was out walking my dog. I heard her carrying on from down the block arguing on the phone with someone about her "baby daddy in jail" and she must've been in jail recently too because she was talking about being in a small cell herself. She was unprepared to do any work that day, her only intention was to make and receive personal calls and texts. I noticed a few days later that she unplugged a plug-in next to the recliner she was sitting in to charge her phone and it spilled over getting scented oil all over the wall, carpet and recliner staining everything. At least it smells good?? Another aide this agency sent, Margaret, was 70 years old and the poor woman had so many medical issues she herself could have used an aide. She didn't eat before coming for her 9 hour shift nor did she bring food with her so we were offering her all sorts of food and I was actually serving her like a queen while I ran around like a servant in my own home. There was no way she would have been able to perform the strenuous physical tasks required of her and she should not have been sent here, it was made clear to the coordinators the type of help that was needed and the intake nurse personally met and assessed my loved one. This "aide" was surprised to learn that I would not be pitching in going forward and would not be helping her -- I told her this was not a tag team and the point of a home health aide was to give me a break. Yet another aide, "B" was so frail and also had a major medical diagnosis which would have prevented her from performing critical tasks required of her. At least this aide had her own car because the other two did not and they relied on a friend/relative/public transportation. From our house to the nearest bus stop it is a mile -- there's no way someone would walk that on a daily basis in rain, sleet or snow, and it is our experience that any time an aide doesn't have their own transportation they are very unreliable. It was also made very clear to Nannies with Grannies coordinators Liz and Kim that we have 2 small dogs and a cat -- that behaves like Sasquatch and hides with visitors but a cat nonetheless -- and any aide entering our home would need to know that and be ok with pets. All of these aides had an issue with pets making it very difficult to form a relationship long term. I have no idea how such an agency who deals with disabled or elderly clients could be in existence with such poorly screened aides, such poorly matched aides for the job, aides showing up to a job without proper knowledge and training of the equipment in the home, with clueless coordinators who forget to make a simple phone call, and without the 2 main requests taken into consideration: Pets (who are sweet and don't bother anyone, but we do understand not everyone likes pets and some people are just plain allergic!) and basic knowledge of the equipment used in the home So in a month and a half period of time 3 aides came for 3 days of service. UNACCEPTABLE! GET A CLUE NANNIES FOR GRANNIES! Oh wait I forgot, after almost 3 weeks of no service the guard at the gatehouse calls Christmas Eve while we're rushing to get dressed and ready to catch a ferry to Connecticut to say an aide is here. Um what?!?! Epic fail Nannies Even the intake nurse, Mary, changed the time of her intake appointment and insisted my loved one screwed up the time but what she didn't realize is that she was on speakerphone with myself AND the aide also in the room. She made the mistake but we didn't press the issue because they were a new agency and we didn't want to nit pick at the time. Well, now it is beyond nit picking at this point. I have no idea how so much can go so wrong but it's really unacceptable.

He lied and he was billing us everyday. This agency was taking a percentage of his pay so they don't care. When we found out and confronted Nannys for Grannys they said they have no responsibility for the caregiver they sent. What? Then why do we use them to provide this service? They sent a guy who used to drive an ice cream truck! No refund. No apology. Nothing. Beware if you use this agency to provide care or companionship to your loved ones.
