A Sweet Surprise on Broadway…read more Thanks to Yelp for the invite to check out Bambu at 5010 N Broadway. My family and I stopped by for drinks, and it turned into a fun little discovery. The space itself is quaint and tiny, but nicely decorated. Seating for maybe six small groups, so this is really a grab-and-go spot rather than a place to settle in. I liked that they use self-service kiosks to order. It makes browsing the full menu easy and takes the pressure off when you're deciding with a group. Now, the drinks. This is where Bambu earns its stripes. Expect bold, unusual flavor combinations, and a generous helping of jelly mixed right into the drink. It's not your average boba shop. Every sip felt like a little experiment, and honestly, that's what made it memorable. A couple of things to know before you go. Prices run about 20 percent higher than similar spots nearby, so budget accordingly. And parking is genuinely tough. My advice: park a block away and walk over, or swing by if you're already strolling the neighborhood. Whatever you do, don't double park. Broadway moves fast here, and cars zoom by constantly. Would I go back? Absolutely. Bambu is worth the walk for something a little different. Give me a thumbs up if this gave you a little more insight

They have regular tables, and then there is a fun section where you can sit on the floor. Outdoor seating in the front and back too. The shop in the back is cool and has a nice variety of clothes, jewelry, books, and gifts. Lots of travel items to match the theme of the cafe. The desserts are homemade and so impressive! The pear Bundt cake was really moist and flavorful. I loved the peanut butter and chocolate pie that was vegan and gluten free and awesome. So delicious! The milkshakes are amazing! I had a boozy one and it was so smooth and easy to drink. They also have good cocktails. I enjoyed a margarita here. The coffees are fantastic! I loved my Thai iced coffee. The matchas are wonderful. I've had the matcha latte and the matcha freeze. I've loved everything I've had so far. Tasty bagels and eggs. The bagel and schmear hits the spot. Nice salads too. The pear and blue salad is delicious. The menu here is expansive and I look forward to coming back and trying new things. I definitely recommend coming here!

We had to take our shoes off to sit comfortably. I think we could've had tables too, but the wait would've been longer. If you have a large group, I would call first to see if they can accommodate you. All the staff here are so kind and friendly. I've been here twice total now, and both times the food has been excellent. I didn't realize this place was pescatarian the first time. I picked the mister grecco panini for the artichoke hearts: It was a little salty due to the olives, but it wasn't overwhelming. I really enjoyed the fresh side salad especially the honey mustard dressing. I would order this again, but there's so many other menu items I want to try too.

As much as I hear about great, fresh food being wasted, this seemed like an obvious app to download. And by this being a smoothie place, I 100% assumed I'd get fruit in this "surprise" bag. A banana, at the very least. They go bad just by looking in their direction. Instead, I ended up paying $3.99 for seven containers of jalapeno corn and two bags of jalapeno chips. The chips were curious in itself because they don't expire until June of this year, so either they're not selling well or the restaurant was trying to add a little variety to the surprise bag. The corn made sense. They would have probably had to throw those out. But it just seemed like a peculiar bag when I could clearly see them making three or four smoothies for other customers. I got there at 7:30 p.m. They close at 8 p.m. I'm having a tough time believing that they didn't end up throwing out any remaining fruit. While I'm definitely going to give Too Good To Go Inc. another shot, it won't be here. I wish management would encourage its employees to give out the "good" stuff that's left. Why? You end up with a repeat customer regardless of the app, and I'd never been in there before. The customer service was strange, too. I walked in. There was one guy at a table and another waiting by the pickup area. The smoothie guy kept on making smoothies but never acknowledged me. You would've thought it was 30 people in there with the way he was moving. I assumed it was my fault and walked to the register instead of the pickup area. A lady came out and looked at me. I showed her my app and forgot the name of the company, but they realized what I was talking about. Then the guy just walked away for a few minutes. I didn't know if he was going home for the night or bringing me a bag. And the lady just took over with making the same shakes he was making. Then the guy popped back up. These two work awkwardly together. On an up note, however, it's convenient to park here on Sundays when Target is closed. The underground lot is not.)
