Did not let the gel fully cure between coats and did not even bother to shape my nail like the rest of the hand. I can't speak highly enough about this place! My friend and I made an appointment to get acrylics at 6:15 PM. They close at 7, but were very patient with us as we chose the colors for our nails. A husband and wife duo did our nails - they were so sweet, accommodating, and kind. Their young daughter was playing while we had our nails done and she was so entertaining! Eventually, it was just the 5 of us in the nail salon. It took almost 2 hours total for our nails, and we felt bad that we were there way past closing time, but they did not rush us at all. I had small lines drawn on my nails, and they were done very well. We were so satisfied with our nails! The best part is that the acrylics lasted for a very long time. I had them done on July 1st, and only the nail on my pointer finger got loose within 30 days. I used nail glue to keep it down for a week before it eventually fell off. A few more got loose between August 1-14, and I eventually had to take the other acrylics off because I didn't want some fingers to have long nails while the others were short. The nails that still remained were stuck on tight and probably would have lasted another week! The quality of their work is amazing. I had such a great experience here! I would totally come back! The woman doing my nails made sure that the shape and length was exactly what I wanted and to my liking. When it came to adding the polish with the cat eye effect, she took her time and made sure it was symmetrical. You could tell that there was a lot of attention to detail in shaping my nails and applying the acrylics. I have never felt the urge to write a bad nail salon review until today. Unfortunately, I am really upset with my nail service (an acrylic removal and gel manicure) from today. I first visited TC Nails with my friend a few months ago and was not pleased with my experience either. It was the only place that had last minute availability and i was hoping to give it a second chance and try someone new. Last time we went, my friend's toes were so badly done that she went home and took them off right away. It looked like a left handed 5 year old painted them. There was more skin covered than there was nail. It was a regular pedicure, nothing fancy. I figured it was a one off situation and was desperate to find a place my friend and i could go to ASAP. Today, I think the person I had doing my nails was the same lady who did my friend's feet. She had no idea what she was doing and it was very clear she had little to no experience. I will attach photos but here is what I am most upset with: 1. I asked for squoval nails and got all different nail shapes that weren't consistent in shape or length. I asked her to fix something but it was clear that she was not experienced enough to know how to fix it or make them all look consistent. 2. I admit i accidently hit my nails when putting then under the light to cure.... I apologized and she looked exasperated when I showed her. 3. She looked at my nails and very blatantly said "wow, your nails curve down a lot at an angle". I pointed out that it wasn't actually my nail and it was left over acrylic that she was not able to get off. I was only slightly concerned that she wasn't able to tell the difference and thought it came off as rude. 4. My friend pointed out a few polish marks all over my fingers. There were at least 5 marks all over my skin. She didnt apologize and her co worker casually said "thats why we file". She half hearted tried to use rubbing alcohol to dab it off. None of it came off so her co worker told her to use rubbing alcohol. 5. She made a call and talked on the phone (speaker phone, super loud and obnoxious) while doing my nails. One of my biggest pet peeve's because im paying for their time and expertise. Overall, i will not be returning ever again and am really upset that someone there could be that untrained. I paid $60 today don't think any amount was worth the service... due to the unprofessionalism and lack of experience. read more

I've been coming here every 3-4 weeks for a dip manicure by Sammy and I love my nails every time! He's very quick (~45min including removal) but always does a fantastic job! MY FAVORITE NAIL SALON IN ALL OF MADISON!! I'm a UW Madison student and had been looking for a place just as good as my one back home in Chicago. TC by far passed my expectations and is my favorite nail spa in the Midwest. Rachel is so precise and detail oriented in all of her designs. TC has nail technicians who specialize in dip or gel. I have gotten extensions here several times and they last for over a month. Also have gotten simple manicures here. Everyone is so sweet and I refuse to go anywhere else in Madison to get my nails done. They are so accommodating to fit you in their schedule. It's a 15 minute drive from campus but worth every penny, especially with their prices being so reasonable and with their rewards program. I am very disappointed at this Salon. When I arrived the person I made the appointment was just starting a dip powder on another client. They ask me that if I made an appointment and for what service and that I would have to wait 30 minutes. I have been a client for over year and this is the second time that I had wait over 30 minutes. I was lucky enough to actually get the nail tech Hannah that everyone else on here raved about. Her work really does live up to the reviews! She was quick and paid attention to detail. Shaped my nails beautifully. She was really sweet and nice to talk to as well. I definitely plan on returning! They also have a very large selection of gel colors. Three months ago I had a pedicure scheduled for 1015 when I got there they argued with me as to what time it was scheduled the rude mad said I must had the time wrong so I went to leave but a very nice lady stopped me and did my pedicure. In July I schedule a pedicure for 1 was there on time waiting for over 30 minutes a young girl comes in and the get her in right away I then spoke up the rude gentleman that I deal with before gets me into a chair for my pedicure but does a half ass job at it when he gets to my polish I asked about the wax he said not today!! This is definitely going to be my regular place! My manicurist was very nice and gentle. When I was looking around I noticed that the other workers were very nice. My manicurist didn't talk to me that much but I didn't mind. I was was a great selection of regular and shellac nail polishes. I have been to many salons and spas and I sometimes have a bad feeling within 3 minutes of being there. I did not have that feeling when I walked into Tc nails! There were a lot of people when I came in but I'm happy that my appointment was still accommodated. I didn't have to wait at all. At the I loved the nice arm massage. Lastly, at the end you get a punch card. Visit 8 times and the 9th visit you get $10 off. Overall this was a very pleasant visit and very worth the $30. I will definitely be back read more

This place is a perfect example of why it's not a good idea to judge a book by its cover. I can't remember how I ended up at this location but I know that if I were to go based off the reviews I wouldn't have stepped foot in this place. However, I did, and I'm glad that I did. The location of this place is a bit strange as it doesn't have a street facing entrance. Instead it is tucked into a plaza that opens up into a into a small oddly shaped parking lot. On the inside, the space is really small and it looks kind of old. But those are my basic gripes about the place because everything else is pretty freaking great. I have been here four times now and each time I've been, I have been seen by four different people; I will however that Hwa is the best! After each visit I have left completely impressed by the quality of service and application by the staff. I have finally begrudgingly gotten used to the pricing of these services and this place is in line with the pricing of other nail salons in the city. The nail technicians take their time to ensure that you are happy with the color of the nail polish, shape of your nail, and application of the polish. After every step, I was surprised by how genuinely concerned each technician was with ensuring that I was happy with the process thus far. I have been to many nail salons in this city; some in nicer locations with pricier service options. TC Nails however is the best around. Very satisfied with my gel manicure! The spa overall is a little dicey looking and not super clean but the quality of my manicure and pedicure outweigh all of that. For my base level pedicure at $33 I got a 5-10 min exfoliating massage, then a hot towel, then a hot stone massage, AND THEN a Parafin wax treatment for my feet - all for $33??? Thats nuts! The nail technician was able to get my ingrown toenails out too without any pain (that's never happened). I got normal polish on my toes and gel on my hands - usually I struggle to find matching polishes but on their palettes they tell you which colors they have for gel only, regular only, and combo!!! So convenient!!! My manicure was shaped exactly how I wanted - rounded - and the polish is evenly applied. My nails looking freaking rad and I'm so glad I took the chance on coming in. $33 gel manicure also includes a hand massage AND a Parafin wax dip. Great nail place I'll be back!! read more
