The York had a mayo based hollandaise with Iberian ham on it which didn't have much flavor but was still good. The Cecina had a mustard based hollandaise with corned beef which had a very good smoky flavor to it. Overall it was a nice atmosphere, great service d and great food. I would definitely recommend.

I was hungry, so I sent it and ordered a few items from the classic tapas: the Squid in Ink Croquette and the Patatas Bravas. The croquette was incredible and so flavorful, while the Patatas Bravas were the complete opposite. The potatoes tasted bland and stale, and the sauce on top was just... meh. I hated how let down I was!! As I was finishing up my meal, I noticed a few people coming in and were sitting at the bar--not usually the most go-to spot when there are plenty of tables open. However, as soon as they sat down, they began grabbing items from the display. I went to check it out and lo and behold--PINTXOS!!! I asked my waiter, and he explained the process: pick what you want, enjoy and pay for what charge you grab at the end. And honestly? Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

Not sure if they did this after seeing our struggle to cut it with the standard knife they bring with the meal. After an unexpected jaw workout of the toughest octopus possibly possible, we gave up after eating just half of it. I hate leaving bad reviews but didn't want any other unsuspecting travelers to stumble on this place with great expectations only to be disappointed after spending way more on food and drinks than the other local restaurants charge in the area.
