After checking out park guell, we wanted to get lunch, I know there are plenty of places to eat around the park, but we wanted to walk away a little bit since we felt as if most of the places around the park were for tourists. this little shop is definitely more of a local joint. The dude working here spoke limited english, and most of the people eating here were local. unfortunately, we came here a bit early and the lunch menu was not an option for us. but we did end up getting two sandwiches that were tasty and quite filling. if you're looking for a cheap, no frill place after your journey at the park guell, i'd recommend checking this place out. read more

This place was great. I can't recommend it enough. I came in the early afternoon, and it was a bit crowded, but we were able to get seated maybe 15 or 20 minutes after we arrived. A lot of the dishes I was interested in were already sold out at that point, so I would definitely recommend arriving earlier. The food was great though. I ordered off the set menu, and wasn't sure what to expect (and also not too sure what I got), but everything tasted delicious. There's more than enough food (vegetable dish, entree, dessert) to fill you up. The service here was excellent. The staff don't really speak English, so be prepared for that, but they asked one of the regulars there who was British to help us translate. Overall, super friendly and I would definitely come back. Also you get amazing quality for a super low price as well (bottle of wine included in the set menu too). read more

Xavi is the man, after our morning walk in Park Güell we worked up an appetite and very few places were serving actual food mostly small tapas or pastries. Not having hearty breakfast has been one of the hardest things things about getting used to Spain. We came in hungry and although the kitchen was limited because of the time of day Xavi whipped us up some great food and drinks. We had the salchichas al vino with rice and fideos a la cazuela which were just what we needed some good old comfort food. Don't go expecting tapas. This is a nice friendly neighborhood spot, but they don't do tapas. Many of the items in the photos weren't there, only the plated meals, I was there at 1pm on a weekday, and they have only the daily menu, which wasn't what I was after. We found this hidden gem after walking the Guell Park. We arrived 30 minutes before lunch but the husband and wife owners accommodated us (family of 5) without hesitation. This is a no-frill, affordable and quick spot for lunch. I had mussels, meatballs, the free potato and egg cake slice (was served cold-ish), and some pork with fries. This place feels hole-in-the-wall-ish and is pretty small inside. The mussels were steamed and served with lemon. Service was a 3 out of 5. The food came out immediately after we ordered it. The people working the front of the restaurant (perhaps the owners?) were so genuine and kind and made us feel right at home Totally worth the walk. We were initially skeptical looking at the handwritten English menu but we all made our picks and not one of us was disappointed. €11 for an appetizer, drink, and main course. For appetizers we did the salad rice and the macaroni. The rice salad was rice, vegetables, and tuna and exceptional. Apparently the macaroni changes daily but ours had a red sauce and cheese - It was excellent. We had the cod, hake, and the hot pot chicken. Yes Yes Yes! These people will serve you a meal for 10 euros, everything included. Once you walk in it's obvious that this place is loved by locals. The people that come here mostly know eachother and some of them actually set their own tables and grab wine. We came in with a group of 5 and people started reseating so we could sit together. It was quite the warm welcome. Outside was a sign saying they don't speak English very well, but they do cook good. And not a single word was lied. I highly recommend Bar Casi, especially if you are visiting the Parque Guell. It is just a 5 to 10 minute walk down/up a street that leads past the church of St Joseph up to the west side of the park. My favorite place to eat in Barcelona. These people are so welcoming. When we first arrived it was just before they opened for lunch and the cooks were eating with some family. They sat us anyway and gave us a free tapa while we waited (for 10 minutes, no big deal right). They were so apologetic about the wait, and very excited to know if we liked the food. It was delicious by the way. I grew up eating Catalonian cooking in a small village outside Zaragoza, this cooking reminded me of my great aunt's. They raise all their vegetables at their house just outside of town, and the meat is also local and they hand prep it themselves. The owner was so nice and very good with the small children there from the neighborhood. Oh, and the price for a multi course lunch (which was frankly to large for me to eat all of) was extremely inexpensive. Go there! You won't regret it. read more

Our family happened to come across Bar Casi when the restaurant we were going to didn't open until 5PM and it was 1PM. The moment we walked in the establishment we were greeted warmly. Obviously a local clientele, simple ambience but had everything you'll want for lunch. Grandsons were 7 and 9 and had mac & cheese & pizza, (yummy according to them), the rest of us had a green salad, bean soup, beef dishes and I had the chicken dish (a fix menu for $11E). Dessert included. Simple but hardy meal, friendly atmosphere and lots of humor and laughter. We highly recommend Bar Casi and hope that Alexandra & Xau are there to host you. They're the greatest. Then they gave us a a tortilla plate on the house that was delicious to make up for it, not even necessary in my eyes since it did not even feel like that long. This place was recommended as a good authentic Spanish restaurant, so we went for lunch after 11:30 viewing of the Park Guell. What an awesome restaurant. For 11 euros you get choice of starter and main dish and drink. We had the "egg plant and pepper", "macaroni" starters, "hot pot meat with onions" and "salmon" main dish and really large water bottle. All dishes were great. I highly recommend this place. We visited Parc Guell and were considering lunch in the Parc but it looked very un-inviting , so we looked up nearby restaurants and found Bar Casi on Yelp - what a great find !! The owner was very welcoming and friendly, and although he did not speak much English he made himself understood perfectly. The food and service was excellent, and fairly quick, and the price quite reasonable. We would have liked to have stayed longer, but were pressed for time. I'd highly recommend if you are in the area to visit Bar Casi for a meal. We certainly will next time we visit Barcelona! read more
