I am 67 years of age and was experiencing the aches and pain of growing older. I finally had enough of going to my primary care physician and getting no relief. All she would do is prescribe medication, which gave me little to no real relief. In fact, I was experiencing more of the negative side effects than positive ones. She finally recommended sports therapy. But I had been there and done that during major surgery rehab. That's when I decided to seek the alternative of massage therapy, and because i did, my life has been changed for the better. My pain specialist recommended Christina and I have gone only once but feel better already. She used pressure and massage and hot stones to relax the muscle spasms causing the pain and stretch the areas. I slept better than I have in a long time. Christina listened to my concerns and adapted her approach during the massage. I will go back for additional massages to keep up this progress, which I will use in conjunction with physical therapy and pain management. The goal seems to be getting you in and out as quickly as possible, not actually addressing your concerns in any meaningful way. Also, be cautious with their intern. There was no introduction, no explanation -- just immediate physical manipulation without so much as a basic "Hi, I'm ___." In a healthcare setting, that lack of professionalism is unacceptable. And quite frankly, very off-putting. Still gives me the creeps. What made it worse was the overall lack of attentiveness. During my visits, Dr. Ryland often appeared more focused on the golf tournament playing on the TV than on the patients in the room. On more than one occasion, he made comments about how he would rather be out golfing. Whether said jokingly or not, that left a strong impression that patient care was not the top priority. Looking back, I regret ever walking through the door. My initial instinct that this would be an overpriced, impersonal experience turned out to be accurate. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this office to do thorough research and proceed with extreme caution.
