Horrible horrible service. Very rude staff with no people skills. I opened an account here…read moreinitially and was told I had to pay an outstanding balance just to open the account but not told why initially. After the account was open and I tried to deposit my first paycheck I was told there was a hold on my account but not told why and when I asked why I was told "there's just a hold nothing anybody can do". The staff was condescending, indifferent and curt. When I called the national number I did not get much better service. Withdrew my account and will never bank here. Highly discourage anyone to do so.

I opened a savings account to add as I already have a chase checking account. I have had a chase…read morechecking account since 2010. So this evening I went to get gas and my card got declined. I live in Watertown and there are no chase branches up this way. The closest location is in Oswego. I called the 800 number to see why I got declined. They said due to security reasons they froze my account and that I would have to go into a branch and show my photo ID. There was a reason why I went to get gas and now I can't get gas and am told to drive on no gas to a chase location???!!! This is complete bs. I asked for a shift supervisor and after 15 minutes...giving all 3 drivers license numbers (yes I have 3 from different states) I gave the amounts that I've spent on my debt card, social security number, past address and all this stuff- then I get told to go to a location and show my ID. Why would I have to go if I just proved who I was!!! I am about to close my accounts and go to a different bank. Chase makes it very hard to solve issues like this. If I lived out of state and not near a location (as I am military) I travel I was told I would have to fly to a state and go in person to solve issues like this. I am about ready to give a big F U to the staff and any chase employee I speak too. I would not recommend any chase bank!

However, seeing that I was there on a Sunday, the branch was closed. Don't fret, though. The ABMs were available. There are two entrances. The branch entrance in the mall was closed. The other door by the main mall entrance was available, which leads you to the ABMs. There are at least four ABMs. I didn't look closely to my right, as there was a couple standing there. Anyways, I had no problem withdrawing cash and was good to go. The ABM side was clean. If you are depositing a cheque or cash, you still need an envelope to complete your transaction at any ABM here. I love NFCU with with a passion. How is this possible? Aren't financial institutions things to put…read moreup with, not t love? That's what I used to think. Before I became an NFCU member. Here are the reasons I love it: 1. FREE ATMS anywhere I go. I live in Los Angeles, but never pay ATM fees. Anywhere. Why? NFCU refunds ALL my ATM fees at the end of the month. There ARE three conditions: you have to a) use direct deposit b) log on to your account at least once a month, and c) use your debit card to make purchases at least least 10 times. But these are no burden, and things I do anyway. 2. I EARN INTEREST every month on my checking account. Currently, it's paying APR 2%, but this varies based on prevailing rates. When I first signed up, I was getting 5%. Considering that some banks charge YOU fees for maintaining a checking account, this is awesome. 3. I'm putting my money in a MEMBER-OWNED, NON-PROFIT financial institution, instead of in one of the profit-hogging, fraudulent, "too-big-to-fail" financial behemoths that caused the country's ongoing financial crisis. 4. When I call CUSTOMER SERVICE, I'm immediately talking to someone sitting in an NFCU office in Watertown, and she stays with me until my problem is solved. She doesn't read a script. She doesn't transfer me to additional people. She might put me on hold while she goes to talk to someone else about my problem, but then she comes back, and she solves it. To join the credit union, you have to "live, work, or worship" in Jefferson, Lewis, or St. Lawrence Counties, OR be an immediate family member of someone who is already a member. I grew up in Jefferson county, but didn't join until I moved away. I was able to join since my dad is a member. Once you're a member, it's for life. There are also a full range of other financial services available -- personal loans, etc., which I haven't yet used. But I think their rates on those services are probably unbeatable. Join a credit union! Join any credit union you're eligible for! But if you're eligible for NFCU, no matter where you live, you're absolutely crazy not to join.

They are fun to chat with and are absolutely caring and willing to work with people in a happy, positive manner. It's very nice to see. I have never gone in and met anyone without a smile on their face. Great service. Great people. Very fun to chat with during transactions.

I can't say enough nice things about this bank's branch manager Scott. I had a hacker get access to…read moremy debit card and they stole $2000 out of my account through PayPal. I went in and talked to Scott and he actually cared unlike the Carthage branch workers. He took time to open up a new account for me and tried to get me a line of credit while my money in my account was tied up. He put thru to the fraud department a 48 hour hardship so I got my money back in around 3 days. Scott really went above and beyond to try to help me, the little guy. I will forever be grateful as I was very upset and stressed cause I had no other money to live on while the fraud team investigated.
