I'm updating my review. I increased my internet speed to 1g & my wireless speed wasn't much better then the 300mg speed. I called to report it and I managed to get lucky. A Sr. VP was out in the field with the crew. He and I had a very honest and productive conversation. I explained, in very plain blunt language, the problems I had experienced with TDS. Frankly I've worked with SR level C suites and he was one of the few that, IMO, was honest & plain spoken. He didn't mince words or make excuses. He gained my respect. With all that said, ultimately the wireless isn't going to be overwhelming but it's steady. When you hardwire to the modem your speeds are just at 1g but wireless is around 150mg. In short I've dropped my speed back to 300mg. It seems the bandwidth is slightly less but & the speed ranges 100-150 (wireless). read more

They agree to credit your account next month Meanwhile you have to pay your Visa this month for their mistake or down billing service. The service was fine- we rarely had any issues with it. The problem is their customer service is absolute garbage. We called the day we move to disconnect and the agent lectured me that we should have called the day before because it was the start of a new cycle. They are now charging me the full amount for less than 1 day of service. They refuse to prorate or discount the bill AT ALL. Customer service called me just to say they wouldn't do anything to help me...why waste my time? Absolute rip off! read more

This is the absolute worst company in the world. The price is good for the speeds which is the only reason I've stuck with, and there aren't any competitors in my area offering fiber. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with though. Billing issues almost every month. I'll schedule technicians to come out, get confirmation texts that someone is coming, and then no one shows, and then TDS tells me they don't show an appointment was scheduled while I'm telling them I'm looking at my account and see it under past appointments. If you're in Knoxville and can use anyone else, do yourself a favor and do that. read more

We recently moved and discontinued service with TDS. We were told to return ONLY the modem and the box they sent for the return would only hold the modem. However, 6 weeks after returning the modem we received a bill for $315 because the modem wasn't returned. My husband called and spent over an hour with someone from TDS who insisted we were supposed to have returned additional equipment even though the person we initially spoke to INSISTED that ONLY the modem needed to be returned. My husband asked several times if any of the other equipment needed to be returned. The answer was always 'NO just the modem'. There is no Customer Service to be had with TDS. I gave 1 star because you couldn't give 0 stars. I won't even go into the fact that our bill went up every couple of months but the service continued to deteriorate! Will never ever do business with them again. read more

we recently moved to a new state that doesn't have TDS. We were not able to return equipment to the local office and were told to take it to our new address and return in a box provided by them through mail. After returning all equipment they still charged $109.00. We had been with TDS for over 15 years and for the last two years there service has gone downhill and there rates for said service don't equal the actual service that you receive. read more

Cancelled service 3 months ago due to a move and have received a bill every month since then. Now we received notice that we are being sent to a collection agency for not paying bills we should have never been charged for. I have spent hours over the course of 3 months with TDS and gotten no where. When billing is set to autopay, there is no way to remove this after service is discontinued because the online account is no longer active, so they just keep billing. I opened a dispute with my credit card company 2 months ago and TDS has not yet responded. read more

For the last week, TDS has been broadcasting Bally Sports (channel 1600) programming on Bally Sports Southeast channel (channel 1601). I have called about this several times only to be told that they have received numerous calls about this. But apparently they don't care and choose not to fix the problem. I suspect that they are really playing some game with their channel lineup but don't want to admit it. read more

TDS aka Rock and a hard place internet. Well, first off I was told I was going to be paying for 1gb internet service at 120 a mo. Get my first bill I'm paying 66 for five star phone service and 49 for internet LITE which is 1mb.. Internet service is equivalent to old 56K dial up speeds. So if you're on TDS Internet lite.. Now you know. I call back to have the problem corrected get the run around and finally am told they don't offer anything faster. Ok, heres the thing about that my Mum actually had a fiber line dropped out here because she used to work medical transcription. So TDS used to offer fiber speeds on this road. The line hasn't been removed but now the road only gets 1mbs? Bit odd that. Company is still trying to charge my Grandfather 2 cents *he's not even on the account?* after I paid over 900$ in phone bills because they randomly disconnected long distance. Sick mum and I'm visiting from L.A. Getting anything done or fixed with TDS is a pain. Customer service and service provided is awful. They have a monopoly here unless you want to pay 500-700$ a month for satellite internet that also sucks. Both monopolies show and customers are treated poorly in this area. I'd like my money back but their guarantee is absolutely bs. TDS is very much a case of getting less than you pay for and it's ridiculous. I'll be glad when another company hits this area and puts them out of business. The double paying bit? YEP, they definitely pull that. Good luck getting your money back too. Company is completely and utterly unprofessionally run. Buyer beware. I'm just barely outside of xfinity and other provider areas. The kicker. We don't even USE the phone here. We use internet. so paying over 100$ for lite? Vexing. There should be no reason that a 66$ phone bill is required for a 50$ internet service which is only worth 20 btw. If you can go with anyone else. Save yourself the double bills, bad service, bad customer service and headaches. I'm gonna have to Agree with Bob on this. The service with this company is so bad I wouldn't subject anyone to it. Frankly it's hell's internet which is certainly where it belongs. I've dealt with TDS since I was a kid. Honestly, the company used to be good but when they moved their offices or someone bought them it went all to hell. Pretty sure, it's run by flying monkeys huffing paint now. Not that I can confirm that but it's certainly suspect. The only good thing I can say is the customer service is usually polite albeit woefully inept/limited. Techs are the only people on point. I have been waiting on the phone for an 1:15 minutes to speak to someone. I paid for a hold month and proceed to cancel to hear that they would not pro rate. I dont mind paying shipping to return equipment but to make me pay for services I did not get ......I was wanting to just have the internet. A few days ago, I needed to reach TDS customer service department. TDS used to have an office in our Town of Farragut, but they closed it because ostensibly they could not find anyone to work there. Now, all customer calls are routed to call centers around the country and abroad. First, I was on hold for close to 30 min. The operator finally picked up and transferred me to a number which simply hung up. I called again, was on hold for 42 min. Finally spoke to a rep in Montana, who also transferred me to another rep, who hung up on me again. The third time, I was connected to a rep who was in the Caribbean. All in all I wasted 2 hours 40 minutes of my time that day. It would have taken the local office about 10 min. to resolve my issues. All the while, TDS claims to have monopoly on landlines granted to it by the FCC. In my view, TDS should simply leave this community if they cannot properly service it and allow a more responsible service provider to come in. read more

4/23/21 wanted to keep local businesses in business. a bad move. there's a reason why people left this company. too little cs agents based in the us instead of the dominican republican and god knows where else. if they took as much time trying to push their inferior products on customers and instead worked to keep them satisfied by doing what they promised, then i wouldn't have made at least 6 callls with regard to getting robo calls from the company saying i owe money when each and every call...usually once a day or every other day to the company with the cs agent saying i was paid up. next phone call (i also got letters in the mail saying my service was going to be disconnected) came two days later when i thought the agent was going to exercise their little fingers on the keyboard of the computer and notify each department of this upsetting problem for me and take care of it. no one did. one more screw up and i'm done with this company! if you live a boring life and need excitement, then i recommend this company will keep your adrenalin flowing waiting for an hour or more to talk to someone in the c ustomer service department. even the customer service agents in the us are stressed as they know they are working for a company where mostly they get complaints. i feel sorry for the one gentleman but all i can say is start updating your resume as i don't see this company staying in business that much longer because i expect a robo call tomorrow or the next day getting a computer generated letter in which case, i'll terminate the service when my billing period is up. read more

I heard good things about TDS from most of my neighbors prior to moving from Spectrum. We had nothing but problems out of Spectrum and now we have nothing but problems out of TDS. Very disappointed in the quality of TV. A blue circle will appear every 5 to 10 minutes saying "loading video" and the screen freezes. So totally annoying. It's impossible to watch a show from beginning to end without the screen freezing. Video reloading, screen trying to catch up with itself, volume cracklings, going in and out. We are paying an obscene monthly fee to begin with and getting nothing in return but bad quality products and services. Don't bother calling in about it, you will be on hold 30-45 minutes. Very frustrating experience. Do not sign up with TDS. I regret it. read more

Horrible wifi service!!! It constantly goes out and my computer can't connect because it's searching for a network connection. This happens almost every single day (and multiple times during the same day)! It is very frustrating because I depend on having internet access at home for my job. Whatever the problem is..... Except for the technician, Andy, who installed the phone system at my small business when I relocated to Knoxville in December 2014, my entire experience has been one of only misery, inconvenience, and trouble. Naturally, we ordered the phone service before moving so it would be ready to go when we got here. The salesrep forgot to put the paperwork in so when we called to see where the phone system was, they had to start the process from the beginning. And even though TDS was responsible, they would not accelerate the set up time and we spent the first 2 weeks of 2015 without phone service to our business. About 90% of our business is done over the phone so, this was really bad. They assigned us a main phone number that had formerly been the phone number of ITT Technical Institute. Consequently, we have had to endure literally hundreds of calls from students looking for ITT and this only ended when ITT filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The phones they provided are absolutely horrible phones. (Polycom) Everyone in our company hates them because they are so complicated to use. And they are here on a 5 year purchase agreement that we cannot get out of without severe penalties. They are charging us $159.00 a month for 3M internet service. Also on a contract that cannot be changed without severe penalties even though they are now offering far faster service for less than $50.00 Their bill paying website often is not working and you cannot talk to anyone for help. Instead you have to sit through a Youtube video that does not address the problem of resetting the password when their website link for doing so won't work. Overall and really, in just about every aspect, TDS is the worst vendor I have had in nearly 40 years of doing business. I would not recommend this company to my enemies, let alone my friends. read more

TDS placed fiber in my neighborhood about three months ago. I already had their internet and cable service. The television was provided by Dish however all of my contact and bill payment was made through TDS. I signed up for the fiber service. After it was installed TDS continued to charge me for the DISH service and refused to remove the charges. After waiting forever to get someone on the phone I was told it was my responsibility to contact DISH even though I never had an agreement with DISH and all of my services were provided by TDS. The TDS person who showed up to do the fiber install said that someone would eventually contact me about the DISH equipment he left sitting in my living room. After much phone discussion the TDS folks I talked to said they admitted it was mistake but that there was not much they could do about it. TDS was dishonest in their dealings with me and I would strongly recommend not to do business with TDS. read more
