This company is horrible. I have been forced to upgrade multiple times under the false pretense of getting faster more reliable internet. I have eveno caved and had two seperate lines put in. Sor now my bill is over $170 a month for two seperate lines of high speed that do not work. I can't even reliably play my xbox one while having my phone on my wifi. I have to turn off my computer everytime I go to play online on my Xbox. Both lines are horrible and I do not get anywhere near the speeds I am paying for. I have even rented expensive routers through them to no avail. Every single time I complain about my Internet speed the customer support tells me to either upgrade my router or even the devices I am using. Which btw all of my devices are brand new. It is really horrible but true to say that I had better dial up Internet than this. Even the technicians that come out to troubleshoot say that they have no idea why tds is so unreliable and that it sucks there isn't another Internet option. That is the exact phrasing I was told when I upgraded my packaging the last time. If I am paying for and have the best and fastest package offered and I can not have a cellphone and computer on the Internet at the same time than there is a huge problem. $170 a month to not be able to do hardly anything is a ripoff. Completely unhappy with TDS DSL. Avoid if possible. If you don't live very close to the DSLAM then you can expect terrible service. I can deal with 5Mbps download, but the upload speeds of .5Mbps (yes half a megabit) render the connection basically unusable. A symmetric or somewhat balanced speed would be acceptable. With TDS having no plans to upgrade our infrastructure in the future, I am currently exploring wireless business class cell service. I got orders to deploy and called the carrier to notify them. I let them know TDS trucks were in the neighborhood and I could give the devices to the carrier but they refused to allow this. I let them know I would not be able to return to my home for 6 months, but the only alternative was for them to work with my wife to recoup the assets. They said they would send a label to her. I provided an address. a couple months went by and I called TDS because my wife hadn't received the label. TDS told me there was no record of a call (yes, the recorded call and notes in the system somehow disappeared) I explained the situation and mentioned that my phone call was limited to 30 minutes, once again i was told a label would be sent to the address. My wife informed me today that she received a collections letter from the carrier. I knew they were anti-military, but to consistently lie about support and then send something to collections is just despicable. read more

We were a long-time business customer of TDS (6+ years). We used them for phone and internet. One day, a TDS rep shows up at our office (unannounced) to remove equipment from our server room. Our staff was alarmed because we had not officially contacted TDS to cancel our service. We called TDS' customer service and they stated that we terminated our contract because we had engaged with another service provider. At no point did we contact TDS (verbal or written) to terminate our contract. Then we received a bill for $6,398 for early termination. Needless to say, $6,398 is an exorbitant amount of money for a small business to pay. We have since chosen to fight back, but all we get from TDS is industry jargon and "he said-she said." I will save you all the trouble now: don't get TDS if you have the choice. Where I live TDS is all we can get, unfortunately. Our internet dies all the time and we have to reset it. One time we completely lost internet all together for over a day and customer service said everything looked like it was working just fine. Our phone didn't even have a dial tone... but yes, everything was just fine. The internet can also get very slow. Additionally, I sometimes cannot access my email because their server has problems quite often. To top it off, the email interface is horrendous. Save yourself and just get some other provider. TDS is cheaper, but when you look at the cost benefit, its far better to pay a little more somewhere else. read more

I acquired an internet service from TDS at a secondary location where my family spent our weekends. Because this was closer to my new job, I needed the internet before moving to a new location. The service was very slow and could not be used for much besides checking emails. That is one issue. The biggest issue came when I called to cancel service and was talked into only suspending it instead. Between the time I suspended service and the time came to activate it, we moved and forgot about the account. We continued to receive mail from TDS and always just threw it away because we thought it was more junk mail. Everything had always been set up as auto-pay. I guess what really frustrates me, is the account continued to build charges for almost a year accumulating to over $350.00. TDS never closed the account because of no payments and did not try to contact us by telephone. Instead sent a collection agency. I have always paid my bills and will pay this one to keep it off my credit but I believe this is not the way to treat consumers. If I actually had service and didn't make payment, they would have ended service in a couple of months, not a year. Tried to work it out with customer service and pay even half but was rejected. read more

This is THE MOST HORRIBLE internet provider EVER! Paid for 300Mbps speed but isn't much better than when we had 100Mbps. Our internet went down so I called the service number. It took 10 minutes for them just to find my account since they didn't have my correct phone number on file. Then they put me on hold for 45 more minutes just to tell me that I was in an outage area. They couldn't tell me how long it would be because I was speaking to someone who lived thousands of miles away. Then I wanted to add my current phone number to my account so I would not have this problem in the future. Only the sales department could add a number......so on hold I go AGAIN. I spend another hour on hold until a sales agent answers in order for me to add my phone number! A total of 1 hour and 47 minutes on hold with this company! Insane!!!! They are basically the only game in town and customer service is at the BOTTOM of their priority list!!!!! read more

TDS bandwidths are extreme. Slow, slower, and cannot use. Do not even try to use on Sunday mornings, it will make you say bad things. When I contacted TDS, I was told that I was on the end of the line and my service would vary depending on other people' s usage. Unfortunately, they have no competition in north Camden County Georgia. On top of poor internet, I must keep their landline to have internet. read more

This company is a total dud. They turned off or as they called it suspended my internet service 2 days before the due date of my bill. It took 2 and half hours in dealing with several departments, long hold times to get this matter resolved. The suspension also required me to reset up my apple router, Apple TV, and other apple services because of the suspension. This took another 2 hours to get things working again. Total incompetence from tech support and service staff. The staff has no clue, is trained poorly and can't even deal with the most routine matters. A total service disaster. They also increase billings without notice and suddenly extra charges appear on the invoice. I don't know who is in charge of this company, but that person is not worth the money they are paying them. I suggest stay away from this company. Last, all the evidence points that they really don't care one bit about their customers. Greed and bottom line are their only concern. read more

This company can't park a bicycle straight. It couldn't organize a one-car funeral! When we first moved to NH in 2005, we had their DSL, which never worked. They claimed it was because we were too far away from one of their switching stations. When I told them there was another one closer, they claimed we didn't have the correct 3-digit phone prefix in order to be moved. When I asked them to change my number to that prefix, they claimed it was impossible. However, they couldn't tell me why my next door neighbors all had that prefix and I couldn't. After a time with DISH, we went with TDS Fiberville. Another mistake, idiotic, primitive remotes that never worked right, having to select HD channels by entering a gazillion numbers. They're the only company I know that charges a fee to pay by credit card. When I set up autopay, that's when the wheels came off, never getting the correct amount to be billed and finding out later that I owed a large balance. I'm done with their incompetency, Comcast has never let me down and that's where I'm going as fast as I can. read more

I was FORCED to get TDS because my apartment building was prewired for it. I had to wait 2 weeks to get it installed, and when they left, the password and pin information they left in the paperwork was incorrect, and I had to spend forever on the phone trying to straighten this out so I could set up my e-pay account. After signing a contract that said I would be charged $69.95 a month, I was charged OVER $100 for my monthly bill. When I called to see what was up, they told me the total was after "taxes and fees" that were added on to my bill. And when I called to cancel because I'm moving, THEY ARE CHARGING ME $21 TO RETURN THE CABLE BOX AND ROUTER. There is NO OPTION to drop it off, you HAVE to pay. What a scam! Especially because I had my own router that I wanted to use and was told I HAD to use theirs. I would seriously look elsewhere for cable, Madison has some other great options like Charter (the amount on your contract is actually what you pay) and AT&T. read more

Poor service. Tried to cancel after I had finished my contact and they said no one could take the cancelation but the rep assigned to me. Called my rep for months and left messages. Never received a call back and they did not cancel for over 8 months and I continued to have to pay. Talked to a vp finally and she said she would take care of it. Next month when I called she was no longer there. They finally took the equipment and stopped the service but charged me for three more months and still have never spoken to my rep. read more

This company has gone downhill. They have the worst customer service. They are experiencing all kinds of issues with email. Try to live chat or call in about the problem and you will wait for hours to talk or chat about the problem. If you can get the problem solved--it will just reoccur. I live in Northeast Alabama and TDS is my only available option. We have bought a very beautiful home in a rural area. The ONLY internet option available to me is 5 Mbps. That is not a misprint, that is only FIVE. When you go to their website it advertises all grades of fiber internet from 50Mbps all the way up to 1 Gbps. WOW! But then it states in the print below it may not be available in all areas. The Main road though the area can get up to 15Mbps. But I live 2 miles off the " Main " road and my best available package for my address is 5Mbps. Did I mention TDS is the only internet provider in this area. Do they think that everyone that lives in a rural area can't afford high service so it is not worth an investment to run the wires on our lines for myself and neighbors to be able to have the at least 15 Mbps? I will be Google the address of the restricted subdivision on the same road as my home less than a mile from me and see if they are eligible for more than 5. This in 2018 and 5mbps in UNACCEPTABLE. I am unable to work from home or complete online college courses. TDS this is unfair.! read more

We cancelled our Comcast service to try TDS service and we have since went back to Comcast. That sentence alone should tell you how the service was. We were even okay with paying a little more to go with TDS. We only wanted internet, but were required to pick a bundled package to include TV. We were quoted 70 a month for service, but after the collection of taxes and fees this was really 90 a month. This was over double the price of Comcast. In addition there was a hefty install fee. We ended up with a month and a half of service and 200 dollars gone, because there was also a 21.95 shipping fee to return the equipment (like the cable box we never wanted in the first place). When I went to settle up on the phone there was another fee for processing a payment from a card. You talk to a person after a very long wait and they end up handing you over to an automated system (so why bother with the wait for a person?). Unfortunately it will take them until the next bill to process the 90 dollar credit for next month as well as the shipping fee so I'm still not done paying them. I would strongly encourage you to pick another provider given the choice. read more

This company does not care about its customers at all. You cannot get in contact with them AT ALL if you need to activate your service. I don't have HOURS to spend on the phone waiting for them to ANSWER the phone. When we finally got a hold of them, I am stuck paying for services I DID NOT GET for over four months. I think the response was, "Well it looks like you are getting service." WE AREN'T!!!! When we finally got them to come to the house they gave us a four hour window from 1 to 5. We do not have four hours. We missed four hours of work we cannot get back. They did not show up. We left at 5:15 because we had things to do. I had a call at 5:25 that they were on their way and would be at my home by 5:37. We were too far away at that moment. Then I get a call at almost 6 saying since we weren't home we would have to start all over. That is crap! You should have called to say you were running late. When I can I am switching companies. The customer service and sales departments are comprised of people should never be allowed to speak with another human being let alone a customer. They are rude and completely incompetent. After I told their agent repeatedly not to add any additional services, the moron did it anyway. The company website is completely archaic and impossible to navigate effectively. Don't count on assistance from their billing department either, they are no better and even their supervisor did not return my call as promised (after a week, I had to call back and start over getting assistance). The only reason they are still in business is because they provide service in areas where there are no other options. I happen to be I a area where there is no other choice of broadband internet and home phone service which is most likely the reason for the most UNETHICAL business practices this company has toward their customers in my area. Telling customers LIES then altering notes on a account in a attempt to cover up that lie is just the beginning of this company's actions. I say lie they like to play "word" games. When the notes on my account was altered and proven by their own supervisors by listening to a recorded phone call it became a LIE. What can't be altered is a response to my BBB complaint. Proves everything I have stated. Notes on my account was not the truth or changed I think both but as stated to me everyone can rest assured the "customer service rep" has been UPTrained on this matter.
