Overall, I'm happier with TDS than I was with Spectrum. Fewer outages, decent internet speed, lots of TV channels for the price. As with every company on earth, customer service is lacking. It takes forever to connect with a live person and that person is not proficient in English so I keep asking them to repeat themselves. I have a 16 year old Sony "dumb" TV so I can't stream, but when I can, I'll probably not need TV from TDS any longer. read more

Then, if you try to cancel, they charge you for an additional month even though you have been disconnected from their system. I canceled the service because they did not or could not get the auto-pay billing correct. My new service is much faster and 1/3rd less expensive. read more

My husband decided to switch to TDS. First of all it took them three visits over the course of 4 months to get the fiber cables in the ground and ready for use. Once that was finally done it was another month to get the inside work scheduled. We have had this service for about a week. When I tried to watch items On Demand, it prompted me to buy a subscription to that channel. Also, they drilled a hole in the wall and didn't clean up their mess. I tried cancelling my account multiple times without any luck. I have tried calling multiple times the number listed and get redirected to residential then sit on hold for 30+minutes... There should be a self-serve option to cancel or transfer service. Clearly TDS does not have the staff available to manage the call centers and make it really difficult to cancel. Internet service is very slow for what you pay for. Paying for up to 100 mps and lucky to get 40. Called to cancel and they offered me a month free and a reduced rate for the next year. Got the next invoice and it was the same as always. Called and they told me that the request was stuck in their system and that they pushed it along. Couple days later I simply did not feel confident that they were going to get it right. Called to cancel service. Continued to get full service bills. Called and got passed around a bit and told that there was nothing showing the free month that I was told I would get. Asked if this was the final bill and I would not see any more and they said yes. Next month I got another one which was less than a normal month. I feel for the customer service members as TDS' systems are very poor. We signed up for TDS after receiving several mailers claiming service was available in our neighborhood, but the experience has been nothing but frustrating. We were scheduled for an installation appointment, only to receive an email after the scheduled time had already passed. A representative later told us additional work was needed and it would take up to two weeks. It's now well past that, and we've had zero updates. When I called customer service, I was transferred to the triage team -- only to be met with an automated message saying they were closed, even though I was calling during business hours. The lack of communication, missed timelines, and inability to provide any clear answers have been incredibly disappointing. We need internet access, and we were hoping to stay with TDS, but based on this experience, we're questioning whether they can deliver reliable service at all. I've had a very frustrating experience with TDS. They charged a $32 fee for phone services on a vacation property where we don't even live, something we neither needed nor agreed to. When I tried to address the issue, the customer service was extremely poor. Long wait times and unhelpful responses only made things worse. On top of that, our bill kept increasing over time with no clear explanation, just odd and unexplained fees. The company does not seem transparent or customer focused. TDS started off much better, but over time it became unreliable and, frankly, not trustworthy. I still had to pay $40 more than the original bill, so I decided to cancel our service with them. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I scheduled internet setup for 7/8 in advance of an out-of-state move. When I had to relocate to the unit next door on 7/7 due to an apartment mix-up, I called to update the address. I was told the change had been submitted, but they couldn't guarantee the technician would still come. Apparently, moving one unit over required restarting the entire setup process. On 7/8, I received a text saying someone would be coming between 8-10 AM and would contact me. No one ever showed up or called. Around 10:30 AM, I called to check and was told they had to reschedule. The rep claimed to have sent a confirmation text but what I actually received was a message saying they "couldn't reach me by phone" and needed to reschedule. That never happened. Still, I confirmed the new appointment. Then, 7/9 rolled around. Same story. No one showed, no text, nothing. I called again, and this time I was told that while someone had scheduled the appointment, they didn't attach a time slot. While still on the phone with the rep, my phone rang twice and hung up--followed immediately by another "we couldn't reach you" message. Now, the install was pushed back to 7/16. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told all they could do was submit an expedited request for the next day, with no guarantee, and a wait time of several hours to even hear back. I'm being forced to use this service by the complex. Otherwise, I would've walked away already. I've been charged for a full month of service with nothing to show for it and zero reliability so far. I will be filing complaints with both the BBB and the property management. If you have any other option, take it. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

We have had a nightmare dealing with TDS. Our package of TV, landline and internet is ok, but they cannot get the billing right. I have spent many hours on hold and on the phone talking to their representatives to get them to charge me the correct amount. Do not believe their agents who tell you they will correct the bill only to find it is not right the next month. Now they tell me the person I spoke to last month did not correct it as she told me and that they cannot give me credit for the extra fees I have already paid, which the first agent promised would be done. I take careful notes of each conversation, with agent name and date, only to be told that they have no notes from that person so cannot make the reductions. After 4 months of this baloney I am cancel their service - totally fed up with their feigned or real incompetence which serves to grab them more of my money. read more

I have never experienced such terrible customer service from a company. It took them almost three months to get fiber hooked up to my business (after being promised it would take less time), and I was one day away from having to push back the opening of my retail store due to their incompetence. After months of having to chase down updates on when I would finally be able to get internet to my business, they finally install the fiber line and I'm able to have my final install scheduled. So I get an email telling me my install window without anyone asking me if that day/time worked with my schedule. I was not available at that time. I told them this, and they promised me they moved the appt to the afternoon when I was available. But I kept getting reminders for the original appt time, so I emailed and called multiple times asking them to triple confirm they had moved the appt. Karen with TDS says "no worries" they had moved it. I had LOTS of worries!! And shocking to no one, the tech called that he was on his way at the original time that Karen had PROMISED me she rescheduled. I had to leave a client meeting and drive 40 min from where I was to meet the tech. I emailed Karen and told her this happened and never heard one word from her -- no sorry, no explanation, nothing. This is just the tip of the iceberg with my awful experience with them. I so badly wish they weren't the most reliable provider in the area where my business is located. They agreed to give me a small credit on my account but wouldn't do any more than that after "4 managers" agreed they had done nothing wrong. Even though not one of them asked to speak with me about my experience and hear the full story. The service is good but all for times they have done work . They contractor did a nightmare of job. One time they didnt bury the line. Called many time. 2 year later its still laying on the ground. Another time they majorly dug up the yard. Finally called them 4 months later to fix it. They just put grass seen on top of football size chucks of dirt and huge rocks. The worst time is when they hit the well wire. 3 month to fix and 27 phone calls it while we had extension cords on the ground. Then when did fix it. I have been trying to get fiber Internet for 2 years now. My apartment has a fiber line in it. There is people in my building with TDS fiber. 2 years ago, they entered my apartment to set up a modem but could not get light through the line. They told me a repair needed to be made to the line and would contact me when it was finished. They never called contacted me, and I began calling in about monthly and could never get an answer on when the repair would be made. I gave up eventually. (also upset they put a hole in my wall without asking to mount the modem). Then a few weeks ago I got a promo for 4 months worth of bill credits and thought I might try again. Like 2 years should have been enough time to get that fixed right? WRONG. I called and the sales person told me they had notes showing it was fixed but couldn't provide a date. I gave it a try. Tech came out and once again the repair was never made. Now I'm getting the same run around once again and when I call they have no idea when the repair will be made. The tech literally made it sound like a line or splitter that needs repair in my apartment building. Whats rhe point of sending a tech in a truck if all they do is use a small toolbox to test lines and call in with MAC IDS to activate modems? Like shouldn't running a line through existing conduit be something they can do? They get sent out in a freaking truck. The last time I called I was transferred to a closed department. That's the it, I give up. TDS has the worse service and I haven't even started service yet. read more

However, it's been more than three years and I still have a mess of wires on my junction box at the house--this after having a cable running across the back of my yard for more than a year that took multiple phone calls to take care of. I'd give no stars if possible. Because of where we live, for years we have had no other internet choices other than TDS. The latest episode involved TDS email addresses I've had for many years that just all of a sudden stopped working on my email client. (My non-TDS email addresses still work fine.) Customer support was not at all helpful, blaming it on incorrect email client settings and configurations, etc. (really!?!?) when all the error messages I was getting were pointing to problems on the TDS side. I've contacted support THREE times already and have gotten nowhere; this has been going on for almost two weeks with no resolution. Additionally, our internet speeds are not much better than dial-up, although we were recently advised to change some wiring, which we did...and it did absolutely nothing, other than I am not constantly getting kicked offline at certain times of day when our neighbors are also online. read more

Horrible! First they ripped up sidewalks, lawns, sprinklers and cut lines to install. Then finally after service was in did not give the price they had quoted. Then jack d up the price. Finally when I cancelled by phone they told me my equipment did not need to be returned. Then charged $159 because I didn't return it. After going over customer service with a nasty "could care less" attitude to a supervisor, she agreed and sent me a box and labels to return equipment. I took it to UPS and the postal guys said if that is TDS get a receipt. Other people in the line agreed and said negative things about TDS. The next week TDS tried to pull the money from my account without authorization. However the card they tried to use had expired and I had paid the outstanding amount other than the $159 equipment charge which I was told would be refunded when they got the equipment. I responded again with receipt and pictures of the returned equipment and told them it was on its way. Now one week later they mail me a second box and label. Good luck in trying to talk. The recording cuts you off during the choices. I'm Still not done. I'm still waiting for them to take off the charge for the equipment. Not worth the hassle! read more

Worst customer service on the planet, that i have ever dealt with in 46 years of life, literally. I have been on hold a total of 4 hours in the past week trying to resolve billing errors, with still no success getting through to a human. I recently moved l, cancelled service , paid all outstanding balances due, then 2 months later they billed my a random "adjustment" amount of $111 and a "non return modem fee" of $159. The modem they are speaking of was already repossessed by a tech over a year ago when they replaced that DVR/modem with a new modem that i purchased outright. Now whenever i call customer service they never answer my call, seeing that I am a previous and not current customer I'm guessing. read more

Horrible internet and phone company. They love to increase your modem router costs without alerting you, went from 5 dollars a month to 12 in a few years. SLOW-SLOW-SLOW and unreliable. The customer service used to be its saving grace and you'd ususally get prompt help for issues, now they off shored and you will be lucky to understand the person on the phone who will likely screw your billing issues up even worse. Just ask for a supervisor at the beginning of the call...we are leaving them soon and have been with them 11 years, just cant take their lousy service, customer service and dissapreciation toward their customers. They think of so many shiesty ways to nickle and dime you. Not only are you charged a bogus fee called "Cost Recovery Fee" at $2.99/mo., but when you pay by credit card over the phone they charge you an additional roughly $5.00 "Credit Card Processing Fee". LEAVE TDS or you will see that over the span of a year alone, they will scam you $35.88 in COST RECOVERY fees, plus however many times you pay via credit card, say once for each month so 12, an additional $60. Almost $100 more a year you're paying and that isn't even for the agreed up service anymore. It's BS! read more

Terrible service! I had to purchase the highest speed internet service and still had to wait for my television shows to load through out programs and movies. Wait times on the phone for assistance from Customer Service is no less than 20 minutes. I have never gotten my issue resolved with one call. I have had to call back and request assistance for the same issue multiple times. Each time, the service rep had been polite and seemingly helpful, even letting me know they see there had been multiple requests for whatever the current issue is. I tried getting help through the chat feature online. Explained my issue, spent quite a bit of time discussing and waiting each time for the rep to respond, only to be told (the 3rd time I point blank asked my question) that I needed to call the 800 number to resolve the issue. When I asked why the rep was discussing the issue with me and telling me how it was going to be resolved, the reps response was that they only note the issues in the account, they can't actually take other steps to resolve it. I was asked that it would so be noted in my account so I shouldn't have to explain again when I called the 800 number. Guess what.... Yup after a 40 plus minute wait, I had to yet again explain the issue. I am so done with this company! read more

They told me I had "signed" a contract that I had no record of and we're charging me for a package I didn't get to choose. In the end I told them to send me to collections. TDS internet was much better than what we had in rural Wisconsin. Service installation crew was great. However, watch out if you have to cancel your service. I was told I had to pay my full monthly bill of $97.34 and my final statement would show a prorated credit. I cancelled early in the month. So I anticipated about 75% to be refunded. Got my final statement and I was only refunded $8.44. Person I spoke with when I cxld neglected to tell me they only prorate a refund on the modem. I was told my first 3 months were free and I asked at least five different separate times and they still sent me a bill for the taxes and I reminded them that at least five times they said it was free they will not send me a bill yet they still sent me a bill. Customer service, repairs & technical support. Each entity advises of something different. I called on 5/15 to schedule a move and the rep I spoke with advised they wouldn't need to come in unit (news flash, they did) for a 6/1 move and would do the "exterior check" on 5/31. I said okay, of course never heard back on the result of said 5/31 check. 6/1 rolls around and I go to plug my eero into the new unit and am unable to due to it missing something. I call, am transferred around and finally technical & repairs says I have to call back Monday to have a technician come (???). I call Monday morning, am transferred 4x, on the phone for 45 minutes and am eventually connected w a supervisor (I didn't ask to be, they just did) and was told they're taking it seriously (wait for it, LOL) as I've been jerked around repeatedly. Then I get a call back to schedule the tech, guess when they can come? 6/17. A month and two days after I reached out to schedule the move. Just wow. The kicker is I work from home. The other kicker? I'm going to be charged for a full month despite getting half a month of service. I was moving about 10 min away from my current apartment (also using tds). They canceled that appointment without telling me (which I took off work for), so I rescheduled for the following week. During this time they called me probably like 7 times? To confirm my plan and somehow my order kept getting deleted? And then they realize I was moving, not a new customer despite me telling them this, and told me my $90 a month Internet is now $150. So I had to call to change that as well. They scheduled the installation again from 1-3, to which I took off work again (I'm a teacher; it's hard to take off work). I heard NOTHING from 1-2:45, which I finally received a call saying they didn't have a technician for me (even though this appointment has been booked for a week now) and they had to reschedule for tomorrow anywhere from 12-5. Inconsistent speeds, subpar service, and on the off chance you get your service disconnected, it takes 24 hours AT LEAST to get reconnected, and that's if their financial services department is open. Why they take so long and why they can't give the ability to reconnect services to their techs is beyond ridiculous. It's 2023, shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to an hour. I would recommend Starlink at this point. If you can't afford the upfront equipment there, even South Central or AT&T would be better. "TDS" sounds like "tedious" and they live up to this moniker perfectly because of how much you need to call tech support or how many times you have to reset the network to get it to work properly for a few hours. read more

They don't mention this to you so you just get a surprise giant charge on your account. This is about $100 worth of equipment at best by the way. I wouldn't even give them one star... They say they lost my phone number and email address... I returned all the electronics and they still charge me $209... No explanation for the fee... The only reason I heard about the $209 is from a collection agency because they never even sent me a final bill... I called customer service and they basically told me screw you your account is closed. We have no intention of helping you or working with you to pay off this amount and we could care less how it affects your credit report... I would've paid it if they had explained what it was for, but I believe it's fraud, and stealing cash. I will never have anything to do with this horrible company again.. read more
